The IDF M113 Exhaust Shield Tutorial:

In this first tutorial I will show how I made my M113 exhaust shield. First here's a photo of all the thinkgs I will use to make this part. I'll give a list of sizes later in this tut.

First I cut out a small size of K&N .005 Sheet Brass. Now at the time I just guessed at the size. Seeing that I was using solder to make my exhaust pipe, I knew that the sheld should not touch the exhaust pipe. (There must be a gap). So I bent the small peace of brass around (3/16 x .014 )aluminium tubbing. I also use 1/8 x .014 to help in the bending process.

Here's a test fit/shot of the brass over the solder.

At this point I saw that this size was just what I wanted, I then went and flated the part out and used a 0.6mm high speed drill bit to make the small holde and the mounting holes. I also bent the sides so that once I was finished drilling out the holes, I could go and re-bend the part around the tubbing.

Here's the flatend part next to a ruler showing the metric system side and then on the "inch" side.

I used (3/64) No.221 styrene rod to make up the mounting points and (.025")No. 219 for the bolt heads.
