The most advanced medium-range air-to-air weapon of its kind, a single burst can be directed at several targets, DEBKAfile’s military sources report. Their sale was announced by the Pentagon along with 30 Harpoon anti-ship missiles and 500 AIM-9M Sidewinder air-to-air missiles in a transaction worth $334 million. Congress has 30 days to negative the sales. The Pentagon also announced the possible sale to Israel of $308 million worth of JP-8 aviation fuel for its aircraft and diesel fuel for its ground forces.
DEBKAfile’s sources add: This is the first American sale of fuel for supplementing the strategic reserves of the Israeli air force and armored divisions against any war contingency. Israeli military planners estimate that in the event of hostilities erupting between Israel and Iran and Syria, the IAF, its missile and air defense units will bear the brunt of combat. The prices of the fuel offered by Washington are substantially below world levels.

The Pentagon statement includes also the proposed sale of kits valued at $847 million for M1 Abrams tanks co-produced by Egypt.

Well, Israel requested the AIM-120C-7, the most advanced varient is the AIM-120D, which is just being produced. And I have no idea why they need the AIM-9M as its inferior to the AIM-9X, not to mention python 5.

Israels Python 5 is the most advanced medium rance air to air missile in the world, at least as far as targeting goes. Multiple firing at the same time, is obviously also fire and forget, beyond visual range and is the only missile ever made with photoptic guidiance and yet it has an infa red guidance system for a back up fully equiped with a jamming system that jams the jammers. Something that only the most advanced infered guided missile come equiped with let alone one thta olny uses it as back up.

Israel are buying American missiles because 80% of American military aid must be used to buy American made systems. Seeing as much of Israels own military budget goes towards wages and general upkeep aswell as maintaing its 3000 merkava tanks, Israel ends up buying a lot more American systems then it otherwise would.
