lol, pretty funny, but seriously, at least Iran is trying to make its own advanced fighter jets, and it's almost done its own 4th gen. jet, the Shafagh (Shafaq)

Don't make me laugh. Re-manufacturing an F-5 airframe does not constitute development of a new fighter.

Shafagh is not "Re-Manufacturing" an F-5, it is a new 4th gen. jet similar to the F-18 (said by officials). It was a project between Russia and Iran, Russia dropped out in the 90s, Iran continued it.

The jet that is similar to the F-5 is the Saegheh, and yes, it is pretty crappy compared to modern jets, but the point is Iran is making their own jets, and Saegheh was a start.

Despite being a bit of a joke, the Saegheh has at least been built and flown.

The Shafagh on the other hand, exists only in models, and as a full scale mock-up (like that pictured below).

It is nowhere close to being equivalent to an F/A-18. It's size and design are closer to the Russian Yak-130 trainer and light attack aircraft - but with two vertical tails in place of the single tail on the Yak.

The Iranian leaders are so used to lying about everything to their own people, that they simply don’t know when to stop – and continue to claim credit for weaponry that they simply do not have.

Shafagh does not only exist in models, the final prototype will be done before 2009, and I also dont think its comparable to the F/A 18, but that was what I read last year.

Sorry for the late reply - no, it's not mine unfortunately (I'm a cat fan). It belongs to a woman in Dallas, Tex. and the cat will smile for her on demand!
