Israeli Air Force Focuses on Air-to-Ground Weapons

There is a media report, suggesting that relative to the past couple of years, the Heyl HaAvir has focused its lates round of weapons purchases on air-to-ground weapons packages. According to published reports, they have scaled back air-to-air missile purchases, buying fewer new weapons and less expensive air-to-air weapons, while the lion's share of their weapons budget went to air-to-ground munitions.

Nothing's certain, but I have to believe that this shift reflects the shape of the next war that the Heyl HaAvir expects to fight.

yep.... we probably wont encounter any sort of air to air resistance in future wars....

another fact that supports that argument is the fact that israel is now asking to buy 25 f-35 lightnings, these are meant to be second wave fighters which take out important ground targets and provide some ground support, they are not meant to dogfight (though its still not a lame duck, it can move quite well)....

but theres also a counter argument, that israel is only buying the f-35 and not the more expensive and superior f-22 raptor because the US wont sale it to us....
