Report: US may recognize Israeli sovereignty in Golan.

Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz reportedly announced that recognition of Israel’s right to the Golan Heights now “topp[ed] the agenda” in diplomatic talks with the US.

By: World Israel News Staff

In an interview with Reuters, Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz said that Israel is now urging the Trump administration to acknowledge the Jewish state’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

While Katz reportedly predicted that the US may take the step within a few months, the White House offered no immediate comment on the matter.

In the wake of the US’ withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal, its declaration that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, and its subsequent embassy move, recognition of Israeli sovereignty in the Golan could send another strong message to Tehran and Israel’s other foes in the region.

“This is the perfect time to make such a move. The most painful response you can give the Iranians is to recognize Israel’s Golan sovereignty – with an American statement, a presidential proclamation, enshrined [in law],” Katz told Reuters.

Israel captured the Golan Heights in 1967, prior to which Syria controlled the area, which has strategic significance to the Jewish state as a buffer zone protecting it from Iranian aggression.

Israeli officially annexed the territory in 1981, but the decision was not recognized internationally.

“I reckon there is great ripeness and a high probability this will happen,” Katz explained with regard to a US move on Israel’s right to the Golan, adding that the US’ decision could come later in the year “give or take a few months.”

Katz also maintained that US recognition of Israeli sovereignty in the Golan has the potential to push the Palestinians back to the bargaining table, a prospect they have avoided repeatedly.

“They should hurry up and sit down with Israel, because where Israel says it is determined to be, it will be, and it won’t give up, and history is working in our favor,” Katz concluded.

Towelheads have never been any good at winemaking or skiing.

What on Earth do they need the Golan for?

When I was in the Golan, the head of my group stopped the car on that border road and made us have a panoramic view from the heights. He asked us: how can you tell where is Israel and where Syria starts?

The Israeli side was visibly beautiful, green with lush vegetation, trees, vineyards, vibrant and radiant with life.

The other side, the Syrian side of the road was arid, deserted and sad.
I still have the pictures.

May the G-d of Israel bless the Golan Heights and all Jews who inhabit it.

Actually Fuzzy it will be even before that. Israel and God, God mostly, are going to devastate the hoard that attacks Israel in the coming Gog Magog war and she will become much more powerful and larger.

Jordan is not realistic and not practical at the moment.

But all the land between the riven and the sea, yes, it is ours, including Gaza. And this not just feasible and practical, but absolutely necessary.

Who cares? The Golan is part of Israel fair and square as are Yehouda and Shomron. The Golan acquired by defending itself from Syrian attack precisely from the Golan.

Isrel liberated Yehouda and Shomron from the Jordanian land grab in 1948 and liberated when Jordan attacked yet again and lost it’s land grab. All of this is part of Israel recognized or not.

Time to declare Kurdistan from Iran to Turkey. That is what needs to be recognized: Kurdistan!

Amen, the UN were charged to act as peace keepers in the Golan which we did for years.

The first sign of aggression they ran or got captured,in typical UN style.

Give it back to the real owners, they will do a much better job because they are defending what God gave to Moses and his people thousands of years ago Amen.

When the Golan temporarily wasn't ours, the filthy Syrians sat up there and threw mortars into the kibbutzim. They used to shoot machine guns at swimmers in Kinneret.

The battle for Golan was tough (you can watch it on YouTube).

We earned it.

Anything those filthy Arabs touch has to be cleaned up before it can be used. Like Jerusalem; they left it a mess. Hadassah Hospital and historic sites desecrated.

Daesh were even filthier, but Syria deserved them.

Support the Kurds, drop stuff on Hizbollah!

When some nation or nations, declare war to another nation, which is the case when those Arabs Nations declare War to Ysrael,:

The nation that win the war, take lands from the defeat enemies. This as been a custom since ancients Biblical Times, This is a Right for assurance that those Nations never again, intent to make war once again.

Syria lost it in '67 attempting to exterminate the Jews.

Then were repulsed on a sneak attack in '73. That strategic depth gave Israel the time to mobilize. If not for the cowardice of the syrian commanders the fate of the Middle East would have been far different as The Sampson Option would have been implemented. assad, iran, the eu ,and un can go to hades.

The Sykes-Picot created syria will NEVER control the Golan again.

Israel gave away 70% of their territory after the 1967 war.. they gave away the sinai and gaza to their arab neighbors as a gesture of peace and goodwill.. guess what.? this never worked.. biblical prophecies of got and magog are becoming reality every day.. god and magog will come from the north.. during the administration of O-dg and Lurch .. both wanted to force Israel to give up the golan heights..

I have been to the golan heights and it is essential to protect Israel from the enemy..

Israel is relatively flat after gaza and would be impossible to defend in a war if the enemy controlled these mountains..

same with samaria and judea.. all natural borders.. not one inch of the golan heights can be given away.. may G-d help Israel..

The Golan is too strategically critical to give up, especially in light of Iran’s presence in Syria. It has been annexed...done!

Iran's military positions in Syria are severely crippled already and Israel now has all intel thanks to Mossad.

The real threat is coming from Lebanon with their 140K missiles capable of reaching the Golan. That's where the Iranian threat lies and that is why new attention is needed in the protection of the Golan

"Israel captured the Golan Heights in 1967"

At high cost. The IDF soldiers in place sacrificed themselves to buy time for the reserves to arrive.

The Israeli HQ was underground, and the Syrian tanks rolled right over it. The Syrian HQ was above ground.

Israeli airplanes attacked it in intervals, but left the Syrian helicopters intact. In between the attacks, the Syrian high command left in the helicopters until the Syrian HQ was empty, and the attacking Syrian forces were without direction.

A cautionary tale. Now Israeli airplanes strike at will in Syria, due to the Israeli's superior technology. When will the Arabs ever learn? Do the Iranians really want to put Israel to the test?

Never forget, never again.

Israel will get a lot more then the Golan in the future as well, but I say too, 'recognize' and 'get'r done,' it's about time, Syria can never have it back, it's so strategic for Israel it's a must keep.

Just as US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital was the right thing to do so would recognizing Israel's sovereignty of the Golan be. It would also be recognizing facts as was the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

For nearly two decades Syria used the Golan as a shooting gallery against Israel. Many Israelis died or got hurt by sniper fire. Israel had to take the Golan from Syria and use it as a buffer.

During the Yom Kippur War the Golan served as a buffer against the Syrian invaders.

Decades ago PM Menachem Begin extended Israeli law to the Golan. Hence Golan is an essential part of Israel.

Israel uses the Golan for agriculture, tourism and as a strategic buffer. The Golan cannot be returned to Syria!

Syria abused Golan to shell Israel populationalong the lake of galilee. Golan is also a buffer between Hezbollah.

this move is probably not necessary. There is not need for the US to formally recognize exact borders of Israel. Borders can be liberating, but they can also be confining. Jerusalem was a different matter because it was a diplomatic necessity regarding embassy location.

The Golan Heights also have great symbolic value. Israeli soldiers died in its capture.

Am Yisrael chai!

Never forget, never again.

I am not a Jew except that the Hebrew tradition is woven into the US Constitution.

WASPs are (Messianic) Jews in effect, whether they know it or not.

US policy toward Israel was created over time, and not in a vacuum. Roosevelt was an aberration.

There, cleared that up for you. The rest of the world would do well to take this to heart.

Yisod Lachochma ****ika. Why can't people learn the beauty of silence. What social need is there for
the public to know this. It doesn't involve security or social welfare. So many people suffer from a malady
of what I call, 'diarrhea of the mouth'
