Trump: ‘US will withdraw from Iran nuclear deal’

May 8, 2018

Trump: ‘US will withdraw from Iran nuclear deal’President Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump confirmed on Tuesday that the US will exit the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran.

By: Ebin Sandler, World Israel News

US President Donald Trump declared that the US will exit the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), an agreement under which the United States was obligated to ease crippling economic restrictions on Iran under periodic “waivers” that technically suspended sanctions.

“I am announcing today the US will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal,” Trump announced from the White House on Tuesday afternoon.

The US president pulled no punches in his address, noting, “the Iranian promise was a lie,” in reference to the Islamic Republic’s assurances under the agreement, which he also called a “giant fiction.”

Starting during his presidential campaign, Trump has threatened to extricate the US from what has referred to as the “worst deal ever negotiated.” Trump’s stated reasons were Iran’s unabated development of ballistic missiles, its role stoking bloody wars in Syria and Yemen, and the fact that Iran lied about its nuclear weapons program.

With regard to the last point, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented half a ton of evidence last week demonstrating that Iran had not only been developing nuclear weapons, but also meticulously preserved the records related to the program. Israeli intelligence services succeeded in spiriting the records out of Iran, which many saw as a smoking gun proving that Iran had lied repeatedly in the run-up to the nuclear deal’s conclusion.

On Tuesday, Trump referred explicitly to this evidence, in addition to a litany of Iran’s terror activity throughout the regime’s 40-year history and its “bloody ambitions [which] have only grown more brazen” since the deal was signed.

“The deal allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium . . . in exchange for very weak limits on the regime’s activities,” Trump lamented, referring also to Iran’s “sinister activities in Syria, Yemen and other places around the world.”

“America will not be held hostage,” Trump warned, promising to “reinstate nuclear sanctions on the Iranian regime… [and] the highest level of economic sanctions.”

European leaders have remained in favor of keeping the deal, with nations such as Germany heavily involved in business dealings with the Islamic Republic that will undoubtedly be curtailed when US sanctions are reinstated.

Middle East nations such as Israel, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia have remained wary of Iran’s escalating aggression. Operating out of military locations in Syria, the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps has amassed considerable Iranian military assets in the civil war-ravaged nation.

With sanctions set to “snap back” in the wake of Trump’s announcement, foreign companies will be subject to US penalties if they do business with Iranian entities.

While Iranian President Hassan Rouhani claimed on Monday that Iran could remain in the nuclear deal even if the US gets out, he warned that Tehran will continue to resist US attempts to curtail Iran’s influence in the region.

Trump ended his Tuesday address on a positive note, stating, “The future of Iran belongs to its people . . . they deserve a nation that does justice to their dreams.”

Not since Reagan has the U.S. had real leadership. I think CNN better get used to the fact that Donald Trump is in charge.

I liked Bush, but I agree with you he could have projected a stronger image as a leader. So I agree with you. But then Neither Bush was in a position to use the phrase make America strong again. Like it or not Gulf Storm was one of the most one sided defeats in military history and Bush did defeat Hussein and company and put its leaders on trial, but the US military did accomplish its mission in that respect with half the force needed and 1/4 the force the DNC thought was necessary they provided insufficient support almost as if they wanted Bush to fail as if they wanted a US defeat. But that's not to say President Trump has had an easier time; anything but.

Yippee-doodle!!!!!!! After 8 years wandering in the wilderness while Obama tried to persuade the world to be nice to everyone else - except, of course, Israel - America once again has a real president.

You have no idea how delighted I am (and I'm a Scot, living in the UK). Thank you, Mr President, thank you.

Renegotiation is a necessity for Iran. In other words the US can curtail Iran's imperial plans, including its ambition to create an Iranian Fertile Crescent.

This ambition goes back several thou years by the way.

Demolishing the ambition will clip Iranian wings and reduce greatly the risk of another MidEast war involving Israel.

During the renegotiation, Iran will be forced to delay any war plans, and to reduce its support for Assad, 'Hizballah, and 'Hamas. President Trump : well done !!

I fully agree with the president that sanctions should be reestablished ASAP as Iran cannot be trusted and a new deal shall put the world out of mortal danger.

Dismantle and remove all turbines and enriched uranium from Iran now. Iran lied and will keep telling lies. Half a ton of evidence removed from Iran by isreal's intelligence shows why. Check on YouTube and see for yourself!

President Trump is a man of his word, he promised to pull out of this terrible deal with Iran and he did. He will go down in history as one of the most courageous presidents.

He did more in one year than the three previous presidents did in their terms.

This is almost funny. The only thing the US is withdrawing from is funding Iran's terrorist activities. Even according to the Obama administration in November, 2016, the controversial nuclear arms agreement with Iran was never signed and is not legally binding, The report went on to say,

"The State Department made the disclosures in a letter to Kansas congressman Mike Pompeo, a Republican, who had written the department to inquire why the agreement as submitted to Congress in July did not bear the signature of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani."

Let the Iran regime implode!

God has raised the United States to stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel in this hour. Israel has no closer and truer ally at the moment- not Germany, France, and sadly to say UK.

See how they sympathise with terrorists and evil doers!

Let us continue to pray for Israel and the United States.

"Middle East nations such as Israel, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia have remained wary of Iran’s escalating aggression." -

What planet are we currently living on?

The last news I read, Saudi Arabia was bombing and killing innocent civilians in Yemen and had invaded the country.

Israel, with its non-confessed 2-300 nuclear devices was still occupying territory belonging to surrounding nations and was regularly bombing Syria. And they accuse Iran of aggression?

This is complete propaganda . .

Did you note that Trump's statement mentioned regime change.

There can only be one way to accomplish that and its war. I just hope my brothers in Israel are prepared for war because it will extend into Israel.

And then try a war against Iran without involving Russia. I worry that we rare led by cowboys and fools.

Regime change requires Nation change.

No improvement is possible while the nation remains populated by Muslims.

Mass apostasy is the prime requisite for improvement.

It certainly is a bad deal. Iran merely puts its nuclear weapons research on hold for 10 years while concentrating on their missile development.

Nonetheless, there are two points I worry about:

1. Trump has no alternate plan to either confine Iran or to keep the US engaged. There is no next step.

2. John Bolton, hardly a supporter of the deal (actually probably more opposed than Trump), warns that walking away, with no alternative, would do more to isolate the US than Iran.

So what is the long term plan with Iran? Has anyone thought it out that far?
