Report: White House Will Not Oppose Expanding Jerusalem’s Borders

October 27, 2017

State Department spokesperson Says legislation to expand the Israeli capital is an “internal matter,” expresses neither opposition nor support.

The Trump administration would not oppose a law, if passed in Israel, to expand the municipal borders of Jerusalem, reports indicate.

The Greater Jerusalem Law would include the city of Ma’ale Adumim, Gush Etzion, Efrat, Beitar Illit and Givat Ze’ev – captured during the 1967 Six Day War – under the jurisdiction of the Israeli capital.

However, a vote on the issue has been continually delayed at the Knesset. The bill was initially submitted by Member of Knesset Yoav Kish with the backing of Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz – both members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party.

“My understanding is that the piece of legislation is in the early stages of development. Some of these would be internal matters that I wouldn’t want to comment on. I know that it has to go through several steps before it would even become law,” State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert told reporters on Thursday.

Nauert gave no hint of US opposition to the law, which will be brought on Sunday for the Ministerial Committee for Legislation’s approval.

There is a gross error in this article: "The Greater Jerusalem Law would include the city of Ma’ale Adumim, Gush Etzion, Efrat, Beitar Illit and Givat Ze’ev – captured during the 1967 Six Day War..." should rea, 'The Greater Jerusalem Law would include the city of Ma’ale Adumim, Gush Etzion, Efrat, Beitar Illit and Givat Ze’ev – RECOVERED during the 1967 Six Day War..."

I expect to see this correction made as soon as is humanly possible, if not sooner.

Yes. Recovered it was! We're talking about Judea and Samaria, which were always part of Eretz Israel since Abraham!

Why do you use language such as: ......Givat Ze'ev "captured during the 1967 Six Day War" ?? Why the word "captured" and not freed and re-united with Israel? It is like people using the word "occupiers" when in actually, how the hell does a people pejoratively "occupy" their own land?

The Palestinians are keen not to have that part of the War for Independence known, what they call the Disaster of 1948.

The fact is the "Palestinians" attacked first and months later the Arab States invaded because the Palestinians were getting beaten.

These are sites that Palestinians also committed atrocities at but would have us only remember Deir Yasin a crime against humanity committed by Jewish extremists and disavowed by the nascent Israeli government.

The false positive being that the Irgun and Stein Gang had tacit approval to commit terrorist acts. In fact, the Hagannah and Palmach fought it out with the extremists over a ship load of weapons.

The false assumption being that Abbas disproves of Hamas the same way Ben-Gurion would have disapproved of Jewish extremists, wink wink. But it is not the same thing at all. I don't know if the old political tract "Freedom Fighters or Terrorists" helped or was very misguided and convoluted.

The Peace Process is as done as last years Thanksgiving Turkey. Without the Peace Process which the PA obstructed bringing peace to a full end,

The issue that the PA would not budge on was the Right of Return and the status of Jerusalem, but they argued these two points from the beginning in bad faith with the intent of using these two issues as mechanism to politically achieve what they can not with their weapons, the end of a Jewish State in which submission to Islam is not the guiding principle.

The Right of Return would have caused a demographic shift and the Partition originally argued for UN control of the city. Who trusts the UN raise your hand ? Everybody, everybody please put your hands down.
Qatar is on the UNHRC need I write more?

If the Palestinians and OIC cabal had their way the Kotel would now be under Islamic control and if you were allowed to pray there you would first have to be instructed how by an Imam.

Yeah, it's OK for the US to steal land from natives who were there thousands of years before them, but it's no OK for us Jews to reclaim land that was stolen from us.

You and your people, along with 5 armies, attacked us in 1967. We kicked your collective tuchus' and made the big mistake of allowing any of you to remain in Israel. If you would have won that war, you and your people would have slaughtered all of us Jews.

And you know that this is true. So......make a choice to live in peace with us, and your collective lives will be much better.

Choose otherwise, and things will most likely get very much worse for you and yours.

Shalom.

The above is what I would share with any Arab in Israel who does not like that we Jews exist. Feel free to share this as you may wish.

I did not attack at all. Perhaps you missed the late line I wrote. The "we" in that line includes Heather, as a fellow Jew, like me. I hope that she did not take offense, as none was presented. Pardon any confusion which may have occurred. Perhaps I should have put it first. Here it is:

"The above is what I would share with any Arab in Israel who does not
like that we Jews exist. Feel free to share this as you may wish."

Native Americans now own tax free Casinos, sell tax free gasoline and tobacco and have exclusive commercial fishing rights as well as many other privileges as restitution and economic inclusion. Can you see a Palestinian Casino in Tel Aviv for Israel's future?

There will never, ever be peace with the Palestinians. Hamas will not allow it and Abbas and his cronies will not allow it.

Israel will always be at "war" with the Palestinians.

Just like America, the Palestinian people have no say in their so called government. If they were to push aside their centuries old hatred of Jews they would have a thriving state.

But there is too much inbred hate there for that to ever happen
.

I disagree, there will be peace with the Palestinians just like there is peace between America and Japan/Germany. Unfortunately, it takes the utter defeat and submission of the opposing side, something Israel has stayed its hand from accomplishing.

The US - and Canada, in case they get the same wild hair - has no business objecting to Israel's domestic policies anyway. The US - and Canada - stole all the land they've got.

Israel's was stolen from them and now they're trying to get it all back.

This contradicts Trump's post-inauguration position. But his post-inauguration position contradicts his election position. Hold on tight.

Not in the first Trump term when he needs to be elected for the second at least.

After that, a different POTUS will arrive on the scene.
