Thumbs down Movie: Failed nun, virgin "saving herself for Christ," aids jihad terrorist

Movie:
Failed nun, virgin "saving herself for Christ," aids jihad terrorist "because she thinks planting bombs will bring her closer to God"

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/12/-p...-cant-get.html

I haven't seen this film -- if any of you have, please add a comment or send me an email at director[at]jihadwatch.org. Maybe it isn't as witless a manifestation of politically correct moral equivalence as it appears to be from this review; if that turns out to be the case, I'll add an update. But from the looks of this review, Celine is fanatical, obsessively pious -- to the extent that she has to leave her convent due to her apparently obvious emotional instability. Then later, when she meets Nassir, she is still fervently Christian, telling him that she is "saving herself for Christ." Nonetheless, she joins him in his jihad terrorist activity, because she believes that "planting bombs will bring her closer to God."

So does Celine convert to Islam in the movie? Or does French director Bruno Dumont think that piety is piety, and that a girl who is "saving herself for Christ" one minute might just as well starting setting off bombs to bring herself "closer to God" the next? After all, all religions have their "extremists," right? And they're all essentially equivalent -- or so the mainstream media dins endlessly into our ears.

There are some hard facts here, however -- indeed, essentially irreducible ones. Christianity contains no doctrines that could lead a Christian to believe that "planting bombs will bring" him or her "closer to God." The rare occasions when someone actually does commit violence in the name of Christianity -- e.g., the handful of abortion clinic bombers, whose actual numbers are dwarfed by their cultural presence as an all-purpose bogeyman of the Left and Islamic supremacist moral equivalence artists -- are acting in defiance of the teachings of every mainstream sect of Christianity. By contrast, the mainstream sects and schools of Islam do contain doctrines that can and do lead a Muslim to believe that "planting bombs" will indeed lead him "closer to God": the Qur'an passage used to justify suicide bombing, the guarantee of Paradise to those who "kill and are killed" for Allah (9:111) is just one of many available examples.

But in the popular culture the mainstream view, reinforced with dogmatic certainty and ostracism for those who dare to dissent from it, was articulated a few years back by Rosie O'Donnell: "Radical Christianity is just as dangerous as radical Islam." And when she said this on some TV show, the studio audience applauded respectfully. This is what everyone takes for granted -- and so we get astoundingly stupid films like this one (or at least so it appears to be). In movieland, fanatical Christians are just a likely, or more likely, to kill you as are Muslims, who are generally not fanatical at all, but wise, patient, and victimized. Apparently self-hating Leftist Westerners feel more comfortable in a world where the Western Christians they've always despised are the perpetrators, rather than the victims, of terrorist violence.

The problem with films like this one -- again, if it is indeed the way it seems to be from this review -- is that it paints a picture of the world that is false, and misleading, and ultimately dangerous, insofar as it weakens the resolve of Westerners to defend themselves from Islamic supremacism and jihad. After all, why bother? Christianity is just as bad, and ergo, the Judeo-Christian civilization, even in its post-Christian form, is not worth defending. Maybe the wise, patient and victimized Muslims will civilize us -- you know, the way they did the proto-multicultural paradise of Al-Andalus.

Going way beyond Gregory III, and without any kind of gun to his head, the execrable pro-Hitler hyperdhimmi Metropolite of Piraeus Seraphim echoes the most bizarre claims of Islamic antisemitic conspiracy paranoia.

"Leading priest blames Jews for Greece's problems," from the JTA, December 22:
ATHENS, Greece -- A high-level priest on the morning show of the largest television station in Greece blamed world Jewry for Greece's financial problems on Tuesday.

The Metropolite of Piraeus Seraphim also blamed world Jewry for other ills in the country during his appearance on Mega TV.

Mixing Freemasons with Jewish bankers such as Baron Rothschild and world Zionism, the Metropolite said that there is a conspiracy to enslave Greece and Christian Orthodoxy. He also accused international Zionism of trying to destroy the family unit by promoting one-parent families and same-sex marriages.

Thirteen minutes into the program the Greek host asked the Metropolite, "Why do you disagree with Hitler's policies? If they are doing all this, wasn't he right in burning them?"

The Metropolite answered, "Adolf Hitler was an instrument of world Zionism and was financed from the renowned Rothschild family with the sole purpose of convincing the Jews to leave the shores of Europe and go to Israel to establish the new Empire."

Jews such as "Rockefeller, Rothschild and Soros control the international banking system that controls globalization," the Metropolite also said....
Seraphim ,is the same priest who ask for a Hummer from the goverment ,to use it as a 'small' car for his needs....
the tv host ask him if he is a hitler fun...

EU sends out millions of diaries to schools listing Muslim holidays but omitting Christmas and Easter

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/01/eu...and-easte.html

Cultural suicide and capitulation. "EU sends out £4.4m diaries to schools which list Muslim, Chinese and Hindu holidays... but miss out Christmas and Easter," by Allan Hall in the Daily Mail, January 14 (thanks to Sr. Soph):

The European Union has sent millions of diaries to schools which list the dates of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish and Chinese festivals - but omit any mention of Christian celebrations.
In an extraordinary move, three million 2011 notebooks were printed at a cost of £4.4million to the taxpayer. Around 350,000 of the diaries have already been shipped to schools in the UK alone.

There is no record for Christmas, Easter or Lent - despite bureaucrats carefully listing the EU's self-styled 'Europe Day' on May 9.

The EU was forced to apologise in the wake of the blunder as religious groups expressed their disbelief....

Arrow Tony Blair's Muslim sister-in-law wants him tried for war crimes

Tony Blair's Muslim sister-in-law wants him tried for war crimes

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/01/to...ar-crimes.html

Islam trumps family ties. "Blair sister-in-law wants him tried for Iraq crimes," from AFP, January 26 (thanks to Weasel Zippers):
KUALA LUMPUR -- Former prime minister Tony Blair's sister-in-law Lauren Booth, a rights campaigner and Muslim convert, said on Wednesday that he should be tried for war crimes over the invasion of Iraq.Booth, the half-sister of Blair's barrister wife Cherie, is in Malaysia for lectures organised by Viva Palestina, a British-based organisation associated with controversial politician George Galloway.

Asked whether Blair should be arrested and sent to the International Court of Justice in The Hague for war crimes, Booth replied: "Absolutely. He misled the British people and took Britain to war on a lie."

The conflict in Iraq was "an offence", she told reporters after a speech at a Malaysian university, saying it was organised well in advance between Blair and the United States leadership.

Booth has been a vocal opponent of the war in Iraq, and a supporter of the Palestinian cause, and in 2008 travelled with other activists to Gaza by ship to protest against Israel's blockade of the territory.

The 43-year-old, who wore a black headscarf that tightly framed her face as she gave an address on "Islam from the perspective of Western women", discussed her own conversion which took place 15 weeks ago.
"My friends think I was naive and stupid, they have rubbished me so much," she said. "Really, joining Islam is not a trendy thing to do.

"Friends ask me, don't you miss going to the pub?"

But she defended her decision, which came after a trip to Iran in September 2010, and said that perceptions about Muslim women were incorrect.

"I sat down in the mosque in Iran, there was such tranquility. I had the compulsion to pray and from then on I knew I was a Muslim," she said.

"Muslim women are not oppressed, it is Western women who are oppressed... Western women are bored, lonely and oppressed."...
And becoming a slave is clearly a viable alternative.

Muslim Students in Britain Reportedly Taught to Chop Off Hands of Thieves, Hate Jews

Published February 09, 2011
| FoxNews.com
Islamic schools across Britain are reportedly teaching their students how to cut off thieves’ hands and that Jews are plotting to take over the world.
One textbook given to 15-year-old students outlines physical punishments for violating Shariah law, according to BBC.
“For thieves their hands will be cut off for a first offence, and their foot for a subsequent offence,” the book says.
Diagrams are given to teenagers detailing where the amputations should be made, The Telegraph reports.
Investigative TV show “Panorama” on BBC One will reportedly present evidence Wednesday night that the textbooks were uncovered at a network of 40 private schools that teach a Saudi Arabian national curriculum.

Textbooks claiming Jews were transformed into pigs and apes have been distributed to up to 5,000 students at weekend schools across England, according to The Telegraph. Another book for 6-year-olds says that people who don’t believe in Islam will suffer “hellfire” in death.
The TV show also found that some private Muslim schools are promoting extremist sentiments on their websites.
Britain’s Education Secretary Michael Gove said such sentiments would not be tolerated. But researchers warn the education system is “not equipped” to handle threats from extremist organizations. The country’s new “free schools” – run by parents, teachers and charities – can be used to indoctrinate students, according to Policy Exchange, a conservative think tank based in London.
BBC says it has uncovered evidence that links the schools to the Saudi embassy, but the embassy vehemently denies any connection.

Arrow Anti-Semitism is Back in Greece

Anti-Semitism is Back in Greece

Anti-Semitism is rearing its ugly head in Greece, where the phenomenon is more prevalent than ever – especially in Athens.

In the 10 months since a Holocaust memorial was dedicated in the Greek capital, a neo-Nazi candidate has been elected to the city council and the city's Jewish Museum of Greece has been slathered with swastikas.

Jewish cemeteries have been desecrated across the country, and Holocaust monuments and synagogues have been vandalized. The country's 6,000 Jews – a vestige of the 60,000 others who were deported in 1943 and 1944 to Nazi death camps – have been the target of a recent surge in hate crimes in Greece.

Moreover, a visit this month by Jewish American leaders was greeted with dismay, and unchallenged anti-Semitism by many, including a prominent Greek composer, Mikis Theodorakis. “Zionism and its leaders are here, meeting in our country!” he warned in a television interview. “This is no laughing matter,” he said, slamming Zionism and its “control over America and the banking system of which Greece has now become a victim.” Theodorakis openly admitted to being an anti-Semite on the program, a confession that reportedly did not raise even an eyebrow.

“We've always been under siege by fanatics and far-right political movements here,” David Saltiel, president of the Central Jewish Board of Greece, told the LA Times in an interview published Monday. “The fear now is that anti-Semitism will get worse with the financial crisis.

The country's deep economic difficulties prompted a massive 110 billion euro ($147 billion) bailout last year by 15 financial ministers in the EuroZone (European Union) and the International Money Fund. The leaders of the 16-nation Eurogroup agreed to the deal in order to prevent Greece from defaulting on its massive debt. But the bailout could not prevent the rage triggered by the cascade of unemployment and skyrocketing immigration -- some of which has since been aimed at the Jews.

Not Only in Greece
Greece is not the only country in which anti-Semitism is on the rise, however. The dangerous trend is also being seen in the southern Swedish city of Malmo, home to only 700 Jews. Many Jewish residents have been prompted to move out for their own safety, according to Frederik Sieradzki of the Jewish Community of Malmo.

In 2009, there were 79 hate crimes against Jewish residents reported to police – double the number reported a year earlier. Jewish cemeteries and synagogues have been repeatedly defaced with anti-Semitic graffiti.

A similar trend has been noted in France, where 832 anti-Semitic incidents were recorded in 2009. Half that many, 474 incidents, were reported in 2008, according to the Aid to Victims Department of the Jewish Community Protection Service (SPCJ).

Nearly a third of the gravestones in a 200-year-old Jewish cemetery in the northeastern part of the country were smashed last November. Of the 126 thick limestone tombstones, 49 were broken and toppled in the 19th century cemetery in the town of Bar-le-Duc, located in the Meuse district of the Lorraine region.

A Jewish cemetery in eastern France was similarly attacked in the town of Wofisheim, in the Alsace region last July. In nearby Strasbourg, some 30 Jewish tombstones were broken and defaced earlier in the year, with “Juden Raus” (Jews Out!) scrawled on one of them. Swastikas were painted on 18 others.

Vandals desecrated a memorial to Jews deported by the Nazis in the city of Marmande last August, an attack that followed another, targeting a dozen kosher stores.

The post talked about how some anti-Semitism has begun to show up in Greece as well as other parts of Europe. It does not have to be against Israel to be anti-Semitism but against Jews in general.

Arrow House of Dior: Swift Response to Designer's Anti-Semitic Rant

House of Dior: Swift Response to Designer's Anti-Semitic Rant
by Maayana Miskin

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/142596

John Galliano, one of the world's top fashion designers, has been suspended from his job with the Christian Dior label over alleged anti-Semitic and racist verbal assaults. A video is circulating online in which Galliano tells two women, “I love Hitler.”

The story began with a confrontation between Galliano and a man and woman at the La Perle restaurant in Paris. During the fight he told the woman, “Dirty Jew, you should be dead,” and said to the man, “Asian *******, I'm going to kill you.” The incident led to a police investigation.

The Dior company responded quickly, announcing Galliano's suspension just hours later. “The House of Dior confirms, with the greatest firmness, its policy of zero tolerance for any anti-Semitic or racist comments.”

Galliano's lawyer termed the suspension “totally disproportionate,” claiming that Galliano “never made an anti-Semitic remark in more than 10 years at Dior” and had simply been responding to insults. However, since then more allegations have surfaced, including a video in which Galliano is shown telling two women, “I love Hitler,” adding, “People like you ought to be dead, your mothers, your forefathers would all be ****ing gassed.” The video was shot at the La Perle restaurant by a friend of the women.

A fourth woman has alleged anti-Semitic abuse as well. None of the four women is Jewish, however, it is believed that Galliano thought they were.

Controversy at the Oscars
Galliano's anti-Semitism created controversy at the Oscars, where some actresses wore Dior gowns despite the controversy, while others did not. Israeli-born Jewish-American actress Natalie Portman did not wear Dior, despite having recently signed on as the face of Dior's Miss Dior Cherie perfume.

Portman, who won the coveted “Best Actress” award, did not immediately respond to questions about her choice of gown. However, she later went on record as “deeply shocked and disgusted” by Galliano's remarks.

“In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way,” she continued. “I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”

The neo-nazi in greece is a very complicate matter.
-you see ,is not like the others neo-nazi in europe....the same idiots but they are a mix of oposite ideologys...and always was short of numbers ...very short.
-always in times to times few of them paint walls and to acts like this.
-they get publicity ,because the problem in athens with the huge number of illegal muslims.....and this is danger for the democracy ,no matter how big it is.
-yes i get your point ,about israel and anti -semitism....my point is (and many more here) ,why some 'people' in and out try to inved an enemy to blame.
- why to bother with conspiracy theories ,like the seraphim and theodorakis did ,when the guilty is in my house.
the one who is against israel with no reason is a idiot.
the one who is anti-semitism ,to cover and blame ,is 2 times idiot.
the one who is against jews in general ...needs medical treatment.
(and i feel ,we have to learn from israel in the near future ...strange times coming. the post does not help for that).

Someone needs to take this pathetic drunken little fairy into a darkened alley in order to teach him some manners...and I'm not kidding, either.

Exclamation The Inquisition of Melanie Phillips

The Inquisition of Melanie Phillips
The British columnist is under investigation -- for not being nice in describing the murderers of the Fogel family
by Robert Spencer

Last week British columnist Melanie Phillips wrote a blogpost at the Spectator entitled “Armchair barbarism,” discussing the brutal jihad murders of the Fogel family in Israel. Her references to the “moral depravity” of the Arab “savages” who committed the crime have gotten her in hot water with Britain’s hyper-PC Press Complaints Commission, which has launched an investigation.

Phillips is being investigated, ironically enough, for writing that “the moral depravity of the Arabs,” as she chose to term the murderers of the Fogels and those in Gaza who celebrated those murders, “is finding a grotesque echo in the moral bankruptcy and worse of the British and American ‘liberal’ media.” And as if on cue, the watchdog organization in Britain of that liberal media swooped down upon her.

The irony was compounded by a further statement in Phillips’ column: “Overwhelmingly, the media have either ignored or downplayed the atrocity – or worse, effectively blamed the victims for bringing it on themselves, describing them as ‘hard-line settlers’ or extremists.” In this case, however, they were not blaming the victim, but blaming the columnist who spoke forthrightly about the nature of the murderers.

After the column was published, the P.C. Commission received two complaints about it: one from Engage, a group that is dedicated to advancing Muslim participation in British society, and from one of Britain’s most prominent Muslim leaders, Inayat Bunglawala, the chairman of Muslims4UK. Bunglawala fumed that Phillips’ words “went far beyond just denouncing the killings. It was a far more generalised racist outburst against Arabs as a whole.”

Ignoring the fact that Arab Muslims commit jihad terror attacks on a virtually daily basis, and that there is no equivalent among Jews, Bunglawala claimed that “if you insert the word ‘Jew’ or ‘Jewish’ where she has referred to Arabs then I am sure she would have no doubt that those words would be antisemitic. Just as she abhors antisemitism it is important that she maintains the same vigorous anti-racist stance against Arabs. It is just unacceptable to use that kind of language.”

Yet Bunglawala and Engage were ignoring one undeniable fact: the Islamic jihadists who murdered the Fogel family were savages, as were those who celebrated their murders in Gaza. I would say this while standing in the middle of Trafalgar Square, and if Britain’s PC Commission had any residual sense of shame, it would drop its investigation of Phillips immediately.
It is also worth noting, however, that it may have been a lingering politically correct impulse on Phillips’ part that played into the hands of the Islamic supremacists who complained about her piece. For she referred to “Arabs” again and again, when the murderers of the Fogels were killing not because they were Arabs, but because they were Muslims, and Islamic jihadists. So many Western analysts will call jihadists anything — anything — so as to avoid calling them what they are, devout and observant Muslims. They just can’t bear the idea that religious teachings might really have something to do with this conflict. Yet to characterize the Itamar murderers again and again as “Arabs” may have made it easier for the execrable Bunglawala to characterize what she wrote as a “generalised racist outburst.”

On the other hand, since resistance to jihad violence and Islamic supremacism is routinely described as “racism” also, if she had referred to the killers as jihadists or Muslims it may not have made any difference. In any case, note the moral inversion from the complaining Muslims — a moral inversion that is now so common that we may not even notice it. Bunglawala and the other complainers are full of righteous indignation against Melanie Phillips for her words, but where is the indignation of these supposed “moderates” against the jihadists who murdered the Fogels? Which is worse? Phillips’s allegedly “racist” remarks, or the cold-blooded killing of a family sleeping in its home?

I recently completed a “speaking tour” of Norwegian Universities on the topic of “international law as applied to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.” The sponsors of the tour—a Norwegian pro-Israel group—offered to have me lecture without any charge to the three major universities in Bergen, Oslo and Trondheim. Norwegian universities, especially those outside of Oslo, tend to feel somewhat isolated from the more mainstream academic world, and they generally jump at any opportunity to invite lecturers from leading universities. Thus, when Professor Stephen Walt, co-author of The Israel Lobby—a much maligned critique of American support for Israel—came to Norway, he was immediately invited to present a lecture. Likewise, with Ilan Pappe—a strident demonizer of Israel—from Oxford. Many professors from less well-known universities have also been invited to present their anti-Israel perspectives.

My hosts expected, therefore, that their offer to have me present a somewhat different academic perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be eagerly accepted, since I have written half a dozen books on the subject presenting a centrist view in support of the two-state solution and against civilian settlements on the West Bank. Indeed, one of my books is entitled The Case For Peace, and former President Bill Clinton praised my blueprint for peace as “among the best in recent years.” But each of the three universities categorically refused to invite me to give a lecture on that subject. The dean of the law faculty at Bergen University said he would be “honored” to have me present a lecture “on the O.J. Simpson case,” as long as I was willing to promise not to mention Israel. The head of the Trondheim school was more direct:
“Israel and international law is a controversial and inflamed theme, which cannot be regarded as isolated and purely professional. Too much politics is invited in this.”
But is it less “controversial” and “inflamed” when rabidly anti-Israel professors are invited to express their “politics?”

Apparently, a pro-Israel perspective is more controversial, inflamed and political than an anti-Israel perspective—at least at Trondheim. The University of Oslo simply said no without offering an excuse, leading one journalist to wonder whether the Norwegian universities believed that I am “not entirely house-trained.”

Only once before have I been prevented from lecturing at universities in a country. The other country was Apartheid South Africa where the government insisted on “approving” the text of my proposed talks on human rights. I declined.

But despite the refusal of the faculties of Norway’s three major universities to invite me to deliver lectures on Israel and international law, I delivered three lectures to packed auditoriums at each university. It turns out that the students wanted to hear me, despite their professors’ efforts to keep my views from them. Student groups invited me. I came. And I received sustained applause both before and after my talks. Faculty members boycotted my talks and declined even to meet with me. I was recently told that free copies of the Norwegian translation of my book, The Case For Israel, were offered to several university libraries in Norway and that they declined to accept them.

It was then that I realized why all this was happening. At all of the Norwegian universities, there have been efforts to enact an academic and cultural boycott of Jewish Israeli academics. This boycott is directed against Israel’s “occupation” of Palestinian land, but the occupation that the hundreds of signers referred to is not of the West Bank but rather of every single inch of Israel. Here is the first line of the petition: “Since 1948 the state of Israel has occupied Palestinian land…” Not surprisingly, the administrations of the universities have refused to go along with this form of academic collective punishment of all Jewish Israeli academics. So the formal demand for an academic and cultural boycott has failed. But in practice, it exists. Jewish pro-Israel speakers are subjected to a de facto boycott. Moreover, all Jews are presumed to be pro-Israel unless they have a long track record of anti-Israel rhetoric.

Read the words of the first signer of the academic boycott petition—an assistant professor of Trondheim named Trond Andresen as he writes about the “Jews”—not the Israelis!
“There is something immensely self-satisfied and self-centered at the tribal mentality that is so prevalent among Jews. [Not] only the religious but also a large proportion of the large secular group consider their own ethnic group as worth more than all other ethnic groups. [Jews] as a whole, are characterized by this mentality…it is no less legitimate to say such a thing about Jews in 2008-2009 than it was to make the same point about the Germans around 1938. [There is] a red carpet for the Jewish community…and a new round of squeezing and distorting the influence of the quite dry Holocaust lemon….”
This line of talk—directed at Jews not Israel or Israelis—is apparently acceptable among many in the elite of Norway. Consider former Prime Minister Kare Willock’s reaction to President Obama’s selection of Rahm Emanuel as his first Chief of Staff:
“IT does not look too promising, he has chosen a chief of staff who is Jewish, and it is a matter of fact that many Americans look to the Bible rather than to the realities of today….”

Willock, of course, did not know anything about Emanuel’s views. He based his criticism on the sole fact that Emanuel is a Jew.

All Jews are apparently the same in this country that has done everything in its power to make life in Norway nearly impossible for Jews. Norway was apparently the first modern nation to prohibit the production of Kosher meat, while at the same time permitting Halal meat and encouraging the slaughter of seals, whales and other animals that are protected by international treaties. No wonder less than 1000 Jews live in Norway. No wonder the leader of the tiny and frightened Jewish community didn’t get around to meet me during my visit to his country. (The Chabad rabbi did reach out to me and I had a wonderful visist with a group of Norwegian Jews at the Chabad house.) It reminded me of my visits to the Soviet Union in the bad old days.

The current foreign minister of Norway recently wrote an article in the New York Review of Books, justifying his contacts with Hamas, a terrorist group that demands the destruction of Israel. He said that the essential philosophy of Norway has always been to encourage “dialogue.” But I’m afraid that that dialogue in Norway these days is entirely one-sided. Hamas and its supporters are invited into the dialogue, but supporters of Israel are excluded by an implicit, yet very real, boycott against pro-Israel views.

Exclamation EU Panel Chooses Passover to Approve Anti-Semitic Food Labeling

EU Panel Chooses Passover to Approve Anti-Semitic Food Labeling

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/143679

A European Union food safety committee chose the first day of Passover to approve a proposal designed to steer consumers away from buying meat from animals slaughtered according to Jewish ritual by labeling it as “meat from slaughter without stunning.”

The proposal will be presented to the EU parliament in July and differs from a decision two years ago by the European Union Council of Agricultural Ministers, which officially recognized shechita – Jewish kosher slaughter.

The new draft proposal does not restrict the sale of meat that is slaughtered according to Jewish law but highlights the lack of stunning, which animal rights activists claim is a more humane method for killing animals.

Rabbi Aryeh Goldberg, Deputy Director of the Rabbinical Centre of Europe (RCE), decried the timing of the vote with the first day of the Passover holiday and vowed to convince EU legislators to defeat the proposal, the European Jewish Press reported.

"It is inconceivable that members of the European Parliament, representing Jewish communities across Europe, could not have chosen another day to vote on such a tendentious issue that gravely affects European Jewry," Rabbi Goldberg said.

"The laws themselves appear to discriminate against the Jewish community as no other method of slaughter will be mentioned.
"However, just as we learn in the Passover story that the Jewish people will overcome adversity, so we will overcome this as well and the RCE will use all its efforts to defeat this when it comes for the official vote."

The draft legislation, if adopted, could lead to a massive drop in non-Jewish sales and a subsequent substantial rise in the price of kosher meat. Many non-Jews consider kosher food, including meat, safer and healthier than non-kosher food and purchase it. Kosher slaughterhouses also sell non-Jewish stores the parts of the animal that are not allolwed to be eaten by observant Jews even if the animal is killed by ritual slaughter, the stoppage of which would mean a tremendous loss.

According to the RCE, the draft legislation "runs contrary to the European Union’s own guidelines, not only about freedom of religion, but also the fact that shechita has been proven to be one of the most humane ways of animal slaughter."

Arrow Pro-Hamas Israel-Hate Fest in Germany

Pro-Hamas Israel-Hate Fest in Germany

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

A German city funded and hosted a pro-Hamas “The Return Generation Knows the Way” conference Saturday, complete with Nazi terminology and incitement for suicide bombings.

The Hamas-linked anti-Israel Palestine Return Center in London, which has become a de facto center for Hamas and other radical Muslim groups, hosted the confab that in the words of the American Jewish Committee, has the single aim of “the denial of the existence of the State of Israel.”

The annual conference promotes the Arab world demand that millions of foreign Arabs, whose grandparents and great-grandparents left Israel in 1948, be allowed to immigrate to the Jewish state.

A flood of millions of Arabs would reduce the number of Jews in Israel to a minority, and the Arab demand, couched in the term of the “right of return,” has been rejected by virtually all Jewish political streams in Israel, including left-wing parties.

The “right of return” is the Arab copy-cat version of the Israeli law that guarantees Jews everywhere in the world to live as citizens in the State of Israel.

The Hamas conference in the city of Wuppertal also has adapted the Nazi slogan of the “final solution,” which referred to the death machine that gassed, butchered and starved 6 million Jews in the Holocaust, and has twisted it around to promote a “final solution” for foreign Arabs allegedly claiming Israel as home.

““The conference unites extremist forces throughout Europe with well-meaning but naïve supporters of the peace process who turn a blind eye to the profoundly anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic nature of the previous eight conferences." according to Deidre Berger, Director of the AJC Berlin Ramer Institute for German-Jewish Relations.

Similiar conferences, which are held primarily in Arabic, attract thousands of participants. Speakers at the conferences, including videotaped messages from Hamas officials, deny Israel’s right to existence, reject peace negotiations and glorify suicide bombings.

“German officials send mixed signals when they declare support for the government of Israel but allow conferences to take place on German soil with speakers who openly deny Israel’s right to existence,” said Berger.

“The conference is taking place in a public auditorium that is jointly owned by the city of Wuppertal and the state of North-Rhine Westphalia,” he added.

Exclamation Director Trier shocks Cannes with Nazi, Hitler jokes

Director Trier shocks Cannes with Nazi, Hitler jokes

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/director-tr...124006988.html

CANNES, France (Reuters) - Danish director Lars Von Trier jokingly declared himself a Nazi at a press conference at the Cannes film festival on Wednesday, causing consternation among the assembled reporters and offense among Jewish groups.

The maverick film maker is at the cinema showcase with competition entry "Melancholia," a grand cinematic statement on life, death and the universe which wowed a packed audience at a press screening in the giant Grand Theater Lumiere.

But his provocative comments, which appeared to have been made in jest, threatened to overshadow the triumph some journalists and critics felt his movie to be and may harm his chances of winning the Palme d'Or in Cannes for best picture.

"You can't award him a Palme d'Or, politically," said Jason Solomons, chairman of the Film Critics' Circle in London, who is in Cannes for the May 11-22 festival.

"People might say it should go to the art and not the artist, but these days I don't think that's true or right," he told Reuters after hearing Von Trier's remarks.

The Hollywood Reporter remarked that the 55-year-old had "pulled a Mel Gibson," in reference to the latter's anti-Semitic slurs in 2006 that badly harmed his reputation.

The American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and their Descendants said in a statement: "Holocaust survivors condemn Von Trier's repulsive comments as an insensitive exploitation of victims' suffering for self-serving promotion and publicity.

"We cannot give a review of his film, but as a person Von Trier is a moral failure."

Flanked at the news conference by his two leading stars Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kirsten Dunst, Von Trier made several references to making a long porn film featuring the actresses.

"I UNDERSTAND HITLER"

As the conference drew to a close, the director, who won the Palme d'Or in 2000 with "Dancer in the Dark," was asked to expand on comments he made in a recent interview regarding his interest in the Nazi aesthetic.

"I thought I was a Jew for a long time and was very happy being a Jew," said Von Trier, who, according to biographies was told by his mother on her death bed that the father he had known all his life was not his real father.

"Then later on came (Jewish and Danish director) Susanne Bier and then suddenly I wasn't so happy about being a Jew. No, that was a joke, sorry.

"But it turned out I was not a Jew but even if I'd been a Jew I would be kind of a second rate Jew because there is kind of a hierarchy in the Jewish population.

"But anyway, I really wanted to be a Jew and then I found out I was really a Nazi, you know, because my family was German ... which also gave me some pleasure."

Dunst looked uncomfortable as he continued his remarks, which clearly took reporters by surprise.

"What can I say? I understand Hitler. I think he did some wrong things, yes absolutely, but I can see him sitting in his bunker in the end.

"I think I understand the man. He's not what you would call a good guy, but I understand much about him and I sympathize with him a little bit. But come on, I'm not for the Second World War, and I'm not against Jews.

"I am of course very much for Jews. No, not too much because Israel is a pain in the ass. But still, how can I get out of this sentence?"

He expressed admiration for Nazi architect Albert Speer before ending another rambling sentence with: "OK, I'm a Nazi."

One reporter asked whether he could imagine making a movie that was even bigger in scale than "Melancholia."

"Yeah, that's what we Nazis ... we have a tendency to try to do things on a greater scale. Yeah, may be you could persuade me." He also muttered "the final solution with journalists."

As the press conference broke up, Dunst, who was no longer smiling, could be heard saying: "Oh Lars, that was intense."
