Default Iran and GCC military confrontation.. opinions

Dear colleagues,

I have been researching online for solid information regarding military capabilities of Iran and the GCC states, especially KSA and UAE. As of recently, the GCC countries have been upping their military expenditure dramatically, and if im not mistake , KSA has considerable portion of their GDP dedicated to the military. Alot of expensive state of the art weapons, ships, war equipment etc. has been acquired by the GCC nations. This ultra modernization has literally outdone KSA military personnel capabilities in regards to usage of these expensive toys. On the otherhand, Iran is manufacturing its own weapons, copies of their Russian and Chinese counterparts, but of lower quality. Iran outnumbers the GCC in numbers of available military personnel, and is likely to have an advantage in experience and technical war issues than their GCC adversaries. Of course, economically there is no comparison. I would love to hear opinions regarding this topic. Who do you think would have the upperhand in a military confrontation if we were to assume the GCC nations were not backed by any Euro/American, Israeli, Turkish, or other military behemoth from outside the region?

KSA would walk any confrontation. i dare say pilots are foreign nationals and as you said money talks. if it came to a war of attrition then the KSA would outlast Iran quite easily. the only chance iran would stand is an all out 'go for broke' first strike, however iran's airforce doesn't have the capability to dominate the skies

Welcome to the forum. This is a very broad topic. What is that your are specifically seeking opinions on?

Taking all factors into account, can the GCC withstand, or even dominate a confrontation with Iran without outside support? Imagine a scenario where the GCC bar any foreign airpower, military bases, and naval presence in the region.

Janet makes a good point. But Iran was able to confront Iraq in a war, where Iraq literally had unlimited resources, the best weapons, and a better starting point in every aspect, militarily and economically. Does this historical fact mean anything at this age where airforce superiority is the alpha and omega of warfare? Im actually curious about this topic, and its tough to find an unbiased answer. I just wanted to know the facts and hear non biased opinions about this issue.

Are you assuming the whole GCC is united against Iran in this scenario?
