Israeli minister: Prepare for one million Israelis in Judea and Samaria

November 15, 2017

Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria should prepare for a massive influx of new residents, Minister Elkin said.

By: World Israel News Staff

Israel should prepare plans for one million Israeli residents living in Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem Affairs Minister Ze’ev Elkin said.

“This will happen – it is only a question of when,” Elkin told communal leaders from the region on Tuesday at a special conference on population growth in Judea and Samaria, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Elkin estimated that the population in Judea and Samaria can double in size in the next 10 to 20 years, depending on the pace of construction, which has been halted or significantly hindered at times at the behest of the US.

The minister pointed out that the current pace of housing is not satisfactory to facilitate the population growth, with less than 3,000 units built per year. A total of 100,000-120,000 new units are required to meet that crucial number, he said.

“Advance plans with all your might as if it is possible today, as if you could create a zoning plan for one thousand homes and execute it,” he urged the leaders. “If everyone does this, I believe that the numbers will become the reality of our lives.”

This massive population growth “will change the entire outlook with regard to diplomacy, security and settlements and will show everyone that there is no turning back here,” Elkin said.

Elkin also dismissed the notion of a Palestinian state.

“Halas [“enough” in Arabic] with the story of two states. There is no other option but the state of Israel, certainly between the Jordan [River] to the sea there will be one state,” he told the conference.

YES!!1 SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SIX DAY WAR.

This is how you claim your land. A clarion call should have been issued by Israel for Jewish youth, jewish young families, those who love Israel, to come to Israel and settle Samaria and Judea - the heartland of Israel. To fill Jerusalem.

Keep building and populating Samaria and Judea. Israel: an oasis of civility and prosperity in a sea of hatred.

Why'd you restrict it to 1,000,000, Elkin?

Oh wow, those nasty Jews constructing houses and infrastructure in and on their own land without asking permission and blessings from the Anointed One, the leftist Messiah, (ex-)"president" Zero, or that failed "what happened" crooked hag? Neither the United Nazis, nor the Fakestinians will be pleased.

But then again, they won't be pleased until the last Jew has been driven into the sea. As that -and only that- is the real reason for their primitive, stupid, 1400-years-old murderous hate.

So hard to understand for all those wonderful, super-progressive, hyper-intelligent "leaders" in the West.

This is like President Trump moving the US embassy to Jerusalem,

I'll believe him when it happens.

With the increased pressure of the Iranians, their surrogates in the territories and Lebanon and their constant threats of annihilation and the PA and Hamas squirrelling off money to fund terrorism, and missile acquisition in the thousands, it does not seem to make any sense to a sane person that two states or anything close to peace is their goal, only the annihilation of Israel.

Whatever moderates Arabs who sincerely want peace, a better life they simply can not rein in their fanatical brethren.

You have a point, except that moving the embassy would be an easier move.

All that it requires is that the US locate its embassy in the Israeli capital. It need not be in a disputed portion of the city, nor would such a move be a blank check approval for any action that the Israeli government undertakes.

Heck, the US re-established relations with Vietnam and Cuba without it meaning that we endorse everything that they have done.

I don't know if the 1,000,000 number is a good idea or not, but Jews have as much right to settle in the so-called "West Bank" as do Arabs. What if some of those Jews illegally destroy Arabs' olive trees, or spray paint "gas the Arabs"? Those criminals should be prosecuted, but it is no more correct to stereotype Jews who re-located to the Yehudah and Shomron sections of Eretz-Yisrael than it is right to stereotype all Muslim immigrant to the USA as terrorists.

I agree with Eskin - if Arabs want another Arab state they will not build it in Judea.

This Plan will only work if the proposed Israel/Saudi Peace Plan works.

The said peace plan allegedly proposes 'international' administration over Jerusalem and stripping Israel of its deterrent potential. What I personally miss from this brotherly lunacy is self-castration for all males over 14 years of age.

I love the idea of a fast growing population as it is needed to offset the Palestinians who far outpace the Jewish birth rate. However I also believe the Palestinians need their own country too or else there will never be peace and the Jews in Israel will always live in a state of terror!!!

Neil, the so called "Palestinians" already received their share of the Holy land when Churchill gave them Transjordan in 1922.

That was 75% of then Palestine. Those living in Judea and Samaria are welcome to continue living there peacefully autominestly under their own leadership but they cannot claim the land as theirs. The Arabs conquered the Holy land in 638 CE and since then it lay in ruins.

A ten to twenty year roadmap. Wonder when Trump's promised US embassy will come up in Yerushalem. Still, a lot can change in 20-25 years (India and Israel only established consular relations two decades ago, and the relation has grown exponentially in all spheres since then).
