![]() Hello all, (there we go again)
I am writing a book about my father, he went to Berlin in 1943 as a volunteer to protect his jewish mother to be send away (long story) and that worked fine. My father worked for Argus Motoren Werken in Reinickendorf Berlin until he was liberated by the Russians in 1945. Meanwhile he made some friends in Berlin (he was only 18) and a few of them were founders of the later G.D.R. They kept in touch for years. My father got aware of his jewish identity over the years and I am convinced that he was: 1. A spy for the GDR 2. A supporter of Israel. As he had a full military training at the Argus in Berlin I have strong indications that he was involved in the 6-day war and/or Yom Kippur in 1973. As a trained professional. I did a lot of research about this subject but it is extremely hard to find any connections between the GDR and Israel concerning my story. My questions are of course: Is there a way to find out about my fathers past in Israel? I have send an email to the University of Tel Aviv but that was 3 years ago and no answer. Is there a way to find out connections between my father and the Mossad? I doubt it very much because my father died in 1997 and that may be too short to free information(s). Last one for the road: Is it worth coming to Israël to find out myself? Are there any suggestions you can make to my questions? Thank you so much for your time. I hope I made my questions clear (there are many many more to be solved). |
