Arrow Hamas Talks Peace - with ISIS

Hamas Talks Peace - with ISIS
by AARON KLEIN AND ALI WAKED

http://www.breitbart.com/jerusalem/2...islamic-state/

TEL AVIV – Hamas and Salafists in the Gaza Strip who adhere to the ideology of the Islamic State are in the process of negotiating a cold truce that would see jailed Salafists released from Hamas prisons in exchange for a cessation of rocket fire from Gaza.

This according to sources in Hamas and the Salafist groups with knowledge of the mediation efforts.

Abu Ayna Al-Ansari, a senior Salafist militant in the Gaza Strip, confirmed to Breitbart Jerusalem that the talks are ongoing. He said most of the Salafi factions in Gaza are willing to cooperate with the initiative on condition that Hamas halts its policy of arresting Salafists and releases those in custody. Ansari said that the talks have not yet resulted in a complete agreement and further negotiations are needed.

An ISIS-affiliated group calling itself the Omar Hadid Brigades has been behind recent sporadic rocket fire from Gaza, including a projectile launched on December 13. The Israel Defense Forces retaliated against two Hamas targets and said it holds Gaza’s Islamist rulers responsible regardless of which group actually fired the rockets. The IDF retaliation causes financial damage to Hamas, which has been losing valuable equipment in the air raids.

Hamas sources told Breitbart Jerusalem that a number of Gazan clerics who have good relationships with both Hamas and the Salafi organizations recently began the mediation efforts.

The same sources said that the Islamic State in Sinai’s military leader, Shadi al-Menai, was one of the mediators in the Hamas-Salafi negotiations. Israel’s Channel 2 television network reported earlier this month that Menai had traveled to Gaza to meet with Hamas leaders.

Palestinian sources said Menai intervened with the heads of Hamas regarding the Salafi prisoners at the beginning of the year, as part of cooperation between the parties regarding weapons smuggling from Sinai to Gaza.

Hamas spokesmen refused to comment to Breitbart Jerusalem on the report of Hamas-Salafist negotiations.

Hamas spokesperson Mushir Al Masri blamed the media for what he claimed was an attempt to “make up an affinity between the Islamic State organizations and Hamas and between the Islamic State and the Gaza Strip.”

A Middle East think tank charged last week that there is information Hamas has been paying off the Islamic State’s Sinai branch to smuggle weapons into Gaza. “Over the past two years, IS Sinai helped Hamas move weapons from Iran and Libya through the peninsula, taking a generous cut from each shipment,” stated a report by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

The report continues:

Hamas relies on Bedouin guides to avoid detection by the Egyptian army and reach the few tunnels that have survived Cairo’s aggressive flooding and closure campaign. In this manner, IS Sinai acquired the advanced Kornet anti-tank missiles it has used to sink an Egyptian patrol boat off the coast of al-Arish and destroy several tanks and armored carriers stationed in the peninsula’s northeastern sector. Hamas has also provided training to some IS Sinai fighters and assisted with the group’s media campaign and online postings.

Last month, Breitbart Jerusalem published images of what jihadists say is an ISIS training camp in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. According to the Gazan jihadist who provided the photos, scores of Gazan militants received training at the ISIS camp, which he said was run by the Sinai-based ISIS-affiliated Al-Wilayat group.

One of the most significant aspects of the camp is its Gaza-centric imagery. One image shows a sign bearing the name of Sheikh Imam Abu Noor al-Maqdisi, aka Sheikh Abdul Latif Musa. Maqdisi was the leader of a Salafist group in Gaza that proclaimed the formation of an “Islamic Emirate of Gaza” on August 14, 2009. One day later he was killed by Hamas forces.

Hamas and the Islamic State maintain a significant ideological and military rivalry.

In May, Hamas engaged in deadly clashes with ISIS supporters who challenged Hamas rule.

In July, the Information Bureau of the Aleppo Province, affiliated with ISIS, released a video entitled “A message to our folks in Jerusalem,” in which ISIS members originally from Gaza declared war on Israel and Hamas.

In the video, ISIS member and Gaza native Abu Azzam Al-Ghazzawim delivered a strongly-worded warning to what he called the “tyrants of Hamas”:

“You are nothing in our reckoning. You, Fatah, and all the secularists, we count you as nothing. Allah willing, we shall uproot the state of the Jews. You are nothing but froth that will be gone as we move in. Allah willing, Gaza will be governed by Shariah despite you.”

Abu Qatadah Al-Filistini, an ISIS member who leads a faction in Aleppo, Syria, made an appearance in the video and called on all “monotheists in Gaza to join the convoy of the Muhajidin and to join the State of the Caliphate.”

Abu Qatadah accused Hamas of “sliding gradually into apostasy, a slide that started with the demolition of the Ibn Taymiyah Mosque.”

“It is a movement that does not seek to govern according to Shariah but seeks to appease Iran and America, the heads of apostasy.”

Thumbs down Why Palestinians Love Baby-Killers

Why Palestinians Love Baby-Killers

December 23, 2015
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/7098/palestinians-baby-killers

  • Samir Kuntar murdered four Israelis. One of his victims was a four-year-old girl, Einat Haran. Kuntar smashed her skull. Kuntar was killed this week in Syria while helping President Bashar Assad commit war crimes against his own citizens.
  • Senior Palestinian official Sultan Abu Al-Einein evidently believes that murdering Jews is not a "despicable crime," but killing an arch-terrorist such as Kuntar is a "despicable crime."
  • When the Western-backed Palestinian Authority openly endorses terrorists and names streets, squares and schools after them, Palestinian leaders are sending a message to their people that murdering Jews is a noble and dignified act. This show of solidarity with a baby-killer is the direct result of ongoing incitement against Israel and Jews in mosques, the press and social media in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
  • In this sick, twisted society that the Europeans have bought and paid for, anyone who murders Jews is considered a role model. Anyone who supports peace with Israel is denounced as a "traitor."

Samir Kuntar was a terrorist who committed one of the most brutal terrorist attacks one can imagine. On April 22, 1979, Kuntar, who was then 16 years old, murdered four Israelis in the Israeli city of Nahariya. One of his victims was a four-year-old girl, Einat Haran. Kuntar smashed her skull after murdering her 31-year-old father, Danny.

This week, Kuntar was killed in an explosion that destroyed his apartment south of the Syrian capital, Damascus. He had been in Syria helping President Bashar Assad commit war crimes against his own Syrian citizens. Kuntar had been sent to Syria also as part of the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah terror group, to plan major terror attacks against Israel from Syria.

Kuntar was not a Palestinian. He was Lebanese Druze. This irregularity still has not stopped Palestinians from adoring him for murdering Jews. Palestinians will worship anyone who carries out a terror attack against Israel or Jews -- such as the Japanese terrorist, Kozo Okamoto, who led the 1972 massacre at Israel's Lod Airport, in which 24 people were murdered and more than 70 wounded.

Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar (center) was killed this week in Syria. Kuntar murdered four Israelis in 1979, including a four-year-old girl. Kuntar's murderous résumé turned him into a hero in the eyes of many prominent Palestinians.

In the eyes of many Palestinians, Kuntar's murderous résumé, like Okamoto's, has turned him into a "martyr" and a "hero." The arch-terrorist is now being mourned in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as a "national hero and fighter" who sacrificed his life for the sake of the Palestinians. This is who many Palestinians consider their role model: the only requirement is that they try to destroy Israel and murder Jews. It is as if all the Muslims in France idolized the men who committed the November 13 massacres at Paris's football stadium and the Bataclan Theater, and committed themselves to being just like them.

The love affair between Kuntar and the Palestinians began many years ago, while the terrorist was serving time in Israeli prison. Palestinian prisoners such as Fatah's Marwan Barghouti and Ahmed Sa'dat, Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), proudly posted photos of themselves posing with Kuntar. Barghouti is now serving five life sentences for his role in deadly terror attacks against Jews between 2000 and 2006. Sa'dat is in prison for his role in gunning down Israel's Minister of Tourism, Rehavam Ze'evi, in a hotel in 2001.

Upon learning of Kuntar's death, Barghouti, who is a senior official with the "moderate" and Western-backed Fatah faction, published the following eulogy: "One thousand greetings to your soul. We shall meet."

Although the Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority has so far refrained from commenting on the assassination of the Lebanese Druze terrorist, Fatah websites have been mourning and praising Kuntar as a "hero" and "martyr."

Einat, Danny and Yael Haran were murdered by Samir Kuntar in 1979.

Sultan Abu Al-Einein, a senior Fatah official who is close to President Mahmoud Abbas, and apparently does not favor terrorists being killed, denounced the assassination as a "despicable Israeli crime." Abu Al-Einein went on to praise Kuntar as a "martyr" who had contributed to the Palestinian cause from the age of 16. Not surprisingly, the Fatah official failed to mention that Kuntar had brutally murdered four Israelis, including a little girl. Evidently, Abu Al-Einein believes that murdering Jews is not a "despicable crime," but killing an arch-terrorist is a "despicable crime" -- one that requires the entire international community to punish those responsible!

In the Gaza Strip, only hours after the terrorist was killed in Syria, a Palestinian father, Maher Huthut, announced that he has named his newborn baby after Samir Kuntar. The announcement was presumably meant to express Palestinian "gratitude" for Kuntar's "sacrifices" on behalf of the Palestinians. In yet another sign of affection for Kuntar, various Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip set up a large tent to receive condolences over his death. Hundreds of Palestinians visited the tent to express their deep condolences over his death, and many pledged to follow in Kuntar's footsteps.

Palestinian factions are now planning a similar move in Ramallah, only a few hundred meters away from the office and residence of President Mahmoud Abbas.

This outpouring of sympathy and affection from the Palestinians for Kuntar should not surprise anyone. Palestinians have long been glorifying terrorists and jihadis who attack and kill any Jew, whether soldier or civilian. When Palestinian leaders -- the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, not even Hamas -- openly endorse terrorists and name streets, squares and schools after them, they are sending a message to their people that murdering Jews is a noble and dignified undertaking, and that it is virtuous to do more of it!

It is frankly disgusting, even as a Palestinian, to see so many of my countrymen mourning and heaping praise on a man who murders babies. This show of solidarity with a baby-killer and arch-terrorist is the direct result of the ongoing incitement against Israel and Jews that takes place each day in mosques, the press and social media in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It is precisely this non-stop incitement and indoctrination that is driving young Palestinians to take knives, run out, and stab the first Jew they meet.

Despite what the European politicians funding them wish to think, Palestinian leaders are not educating their people for tolerance, non-violence and peace. Instead, with the money they are given by these dreamy northerners who seem to imagine the world is one big loving day-care center, they continue to poison the hearts and minds of their people through incendiary lies and the most bigoted rhetoric.

The Europeans, who are largely bankrolling this venom, should be made to know that this is what their generosity is used for. And that this is precisely why no peace process with Israel will ever work. Thanks mainly to the largesse of European funding that keeps most Palestinians from thinking of other ways to earn a living, Palestinian terrorism is now a big business! The gullible Europeans have enabled an entire generation to be raised on the glorification of terrorists such as Kuntar. I do hope this makes the Europeans feel very good about themselves.

In this sick, twisted society that the Europeans have bought and paid for, anyone who murders Jews is considered a role model. But anyone who supports peace with Israel is instantly denounced as a "traitor." It is high time for the Europeans and others in the West to wake up.

Exclamation Abbas must be Held Responsible for Current Terror[

Abbas must be Held Responsible for Current Terror
The wave of terror will not stop as long as Abbas and the Palestinian leadership are free to incite, travel and orchestrate terror without personal consequences.
By Shoula Romano Horing

http://www.americanthinker.com/artic...nt_terror.html

The time arrived for Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, to be held responsible by Israel for his involvement in the Munich Olympic Massacre and his long history of sponsoring and inciting anti-Israel terror, just as the brutal terrorist Samir Kuntar, who was killed in Syria in an Israeli airstrike this week, has been held responsible 36 years after personally smashing a 4-year-old Israeli girl‘s skull with the butt of his rifle.

In December 2015, for the first time, the public discovered the long-hidden cruel, gruesome details of the 1972 Munich Olympics Massacre. The eight terrorists, representing a branch of the Palestinian Liberation Organization broke in to the apartments at the Olympic Village where 11 Israeli athletes were staying before dawn on Sept. 5, 1972. They were held hostage for 20 hours during which they were beaten and in at least one case, castrated. Mr. Yossef Romano, a champion weight lifter, was shot when he tried to overpower the terrorists early in the attack. He was then left to die and his genitals were cut off through his underwear while the other 10 athletes were sitting around tied up watching. Other athletes were beaten and sustained serious injuries, including broken bones. Mr. Romano and another athlete were killed in the Olympics Village by the Palestinian terrorists while the other nine were killed during a failed rescue attempt after they were moved with their PLO captors to a nearby airport.

Since then, most of the PLO terrorists who were involved in the Munich attack have been assassinated by Israeli Mossad agents. But Mahmoud Abbas was not held accountable.

For those with short memories, Abbas, like Arafat, was a founding member of Fatah, the PLO's main faction since 1969. While Arafat was the face of the PLO, Abbas was always number two to Arafat and the main financier of numerous terrorist attacks. In the autobiography of former PLO official Muhammad Daoud Oddeh, published in France in 1999, it was reported that Mahmoud Abbas, also called by his guerrilla name, Abu Mazen, was involved in the 1972 Munich Olympic massacre. Oddeh, known as Abu Daoud, wrote that he recalled that the plan was concocted in Rome at a meeting he held with senior PLO official Salah Khalaf, better known as Abu Iyad, and Abu Mazen, who, Abu Iyad said, was to secure the funding.

For many years the West and leftist Israeli governments and the media chose to play a preposterous game of presenting Abbas as the new, credible, and moderate Palestinian leader whom Israel and the West could trust to bring peace at last through negotiations. In order to achieve this delusional possibility, they chose to ignore, deny, or simply forget the true past of Abbas and give him a different, more wholesome past. They chose to advance the myth that Abbas was a partner for peace who was willing to coexist with the Jews despite the fact that he was second to Arafat when the Palestinian Authority (PA) rejected Israeli Prime Minister Barak’s offer of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as a capital in the year 2000 and through the subsequent 5 years of Arafat’s war of terror through suicide bombings against Israel which killed over 1000 Israelis from 2000 to 2005. After the death of Arafat in 2004, Abbas became the chairman of the Fatah branch and the PLO, and as a president of the PA he again rejected another offer of peace made this time by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in 2008, which would have allowed the Palestinians to coexist with Israel as an independent state.

For years as president he has continued the legacy of Arafat by inciting and indoctrinating to violence and hatred new generations of young Palestinians through the PA-controlled media outlets and schools, but he did depart from Arafat when he called for an end to anti-Israel violence and a return to peaceful resistance. While never the peace partner that the West or Israel yearned for, he was considered by Israeli officials as useful, nonthreatening, and a violence-abhorring strategic asset.

But now his usefulness has expired. He has become more a part of the problem than the solution. While Abbas has been repeatedly portraying the current terror campaign as a kind of popular, spontaneous struggle led by Palestinian youth, frustrated by lack of hope, in reality for the last three months Abbas, in coordination with Hamas, chose to copy his former boss Arafat by orchestrating, sponsoring, directing, and inciting the recent wave of stabbings. The Palestinian Authority, led by Abbas, is using terror as a tool to achieve its political objective to compel Israel to unilaterally withdraw from the West Bank and East Jerusalem under international pressure without any negotiations or any agreement to end the conflict with the Jewish State. Throughout the past year, Abbas has instigated the violence by telling his people lies that Israel was planning to defile and destroy the Al Aqsa Mosque and inflamed them further through social media and mosques preachers by telling them that Israel is committing “war crimes” and “summary executions” of innocent young Palestinians. During the last month the Abbas’ led PA and Hamas officials have been meeting in total and united support to spread the knives terror campaign and the warfare against Israel in the international arena.

On November 20, 2015, the Fatah Central Committee and Hamas Political Bureau took part in the General Arab Conference to Support the Intifada in Beirut. In the closing declaration of the Conference the participants stated that the Intifada seeks to make it less costly for the IDF to withdraw than to keep fighting both the Intifada itself and international opinion. The committee’s resolutions described Israel as an enemy against which all-out war must be waged until its complete destruction.

On December 6, the Fatah Central Committee headed by Mahmoud Abbas convened in the presidential headquarter in Ramallah and approved a confrontation strategy towards Israel. Based on Palestinian media reports, it seems that the Committee gave its backing to a strategy that combines the terror knives intifada, with diplomatic and legal warfare in the international arena and ending the security cooperation with Israel.

The wave of terror will not stop as long as Abbas and the Palestinian leadership are free to incite, travel and orchestrate terror without personal consequences. Abbas must know that if he continues his instigation, he will be held inside the Mukatta just as his predecessor was, and the sources of income to Abbas, his armies, and the Palestinian people will dry up completely by Israel’s withholding of taxes and aid, preventing Palestinians from working inside or visiting Israel, and preventing nonresidents from entering Palestinian-controlled areas.

Finally, the Palestinians should know that Intifada I and II did not occur under a Likud government. If they continue, they will see the IDF up close, inside all their cities and homes in Judea and Samaria. Israel is here to stay until a new Palestinian leadership arises that truly wants peace with the Jewish state.

Exclamation The Real Threat to Palestinian Christians: Radical Islam

The Real Threat to Palestinian Christians: Radical Islam
by Bassam Tawil

December 27, 2015
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/71...istians-threat

The Christians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip are no different from their brothers in Iraq, Syria, Egypt and Libya, who face a ruthless campaign of ethnic cleansing at the hands Islamist groups. Yet Palestinian Authority (PA) leaders want the world to blame only Israel for the predicament of Christians.

The PA's decision to cancel Christmas celebrations had nothing to do with Israel or the "intifada." It came after threats by Muslim extremists to target Christians and their holy sites.

On Christmas Day, Muslim Palestinians hurled stones at the car taking the head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land to Bethlehem. It would not surprise anyone if next year the PA decides to cancel Christmas celebrations for "security reasons."

If, in the media and the international community, this strategy of turning a blind eye to the Muslim persecution of Christians continues, next year's Christmas in Bethlehem is sure to be an even less happy one.

This was not a happy Christmas for our Palestinian brothers in the West Bank who happen to be Christian. The Palestinian Christians have now become a tiny minority in Bethlehem. This year, they were just lucky that Christmas passed without a major terrorist attack or serious outbreaks of violence.

On Christmas day, Muslim Palestinians hurled stones at the car taking the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Fouad Twal, to Bethlehem. Twal, head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, was fortunately not hurt in the attack. The stone-throwers, local residents said, were from a refugee camp near Bethlehem. They had apparently said they were opposed to holding any form of celebrations in Bethlehem -- on the pretext that there is no reason to celebrate while Palestinians are being killed by Israelis -- who, by the way, have merely been trying to stop Palestinians from killing them.

There is no guarantee, however, that next year's Christmas in Bethlehem --- and other Palestinian cities and villages -- will be safe for our Christian brothers. It would not be surprising if next year the Palestinian Authority (PA) decides to cancel Christmas celebrations for "security reasons."

The Palestinian Authority leadership, just before Christmas, announced that celebrations this year would be limited to religious festivities, because of the ongoing wave of terrorism against Israelis -- attacks that some of our leaders are calling the "Al-Quds Intifada" or the "popular uprising. Our leaders also told the Christian population that there was no reason to celebrate while Palestinians were being shot and killed by Israelis -- meaning those Palestinians killed while stabbing Jews with knives or running Jews down with cars.

On the eve of Christmas, however, it became clear that the real reason behind the PA's decision to cancel public celebrations had nothing to do with Israel or the "intifada." The decision, it turned out, came after threats by Muslim extremists to target Christians and their holy sites. Christian residents of Bethlehem and Ramallah said they received threats and demands to cancel celebrations from various Islamic groups. Their threats come in the context of ongoing Islamist persecution of Christians not only in the Palestinian territories, but also in other Arab countries, such as Iraq, Syria, Libya and Egypt.

It is this campaign of intimidation against Palestinian Christians that prompted the Palestinian Authority security forces to arrest scores of Islamists in the West Bank ahead of Christmas.

One report, which said that Palestinian security forces in the West Bank had rounded up 16 men affiliated with Islamic State and other jihadi groups, was truly startling. Our leaders in Ramallah have long been denying the presence of Islamic State followers in the West Bank. These men in Ramallah are always saying that such claims are "rumors" spread by Israel to create confusion and anarchy among Palestinians. The clampdown on Islamists in the West Bank shows that our leaders have been lying to us and to the rest of the world, as well.

It also shows that, contrary to what the Palestinian leadership has been saying, Israel and the "intifada" had nothing to do with the decision to cancel Christmas celebrations. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in his Christmas message, chose to ignore the Islamist threats against Palestinian Christians. Instead, he put all the blame on "extremist Israeli settlers," whom he accused of "attacking churches and mosques."

Apparently, President Abbas and our leaders are living on a different planet where people do not hear of the plight of Christians in our neighboring Arab countries. There is, it seems, on Planet Ramallah, no campaign of intimidation and terrorism waged by Palestinian Islamists against our Christian brothers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Even before the attack on Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal, Palestinian Muslims had set fire to a Christmas tree in the Christian village of Al-Zababdeh, in the northern West Bank. Palestinian security forces arrested two Palestinian Muslims belonging to a radical Islamist group, in connection with the arson.

On top of that, in a cynical exploitation of a Christian symbol to promote violence and hate, Palestinian Muslims have been disguising themselves in Santa Claus costumes while throwing stones at Israeli soldiers in the West Bank. It is hard to think of anything more saddening than to watch a Santa Claus engage in violence instead of handing out gifts and candies to little children.

President Abbas, however, does not appear to consider this an insult to Christians and their faith. It seems the Palestinian agitators dressed in Santa Claus outfits were hoping to show the world that Israeli soldiers were deliberately attacking Christians and their symbols. It is not yet clear if there was any disappointment that the Israeli soldiers were apparently not the least bit interested in taking the bait.

For this condition, the mainstream Western media is largely to blame. It has long been complicit, unethically and immorally, in helping Palestinians spread their message of anti-Israeli hate. The Western journalists and photographers covering the violence knew perfectly well that the men wearing Santa Claus outfits and throwing stones while yelling "Allahu Akbar" were in fact Muslims, not Christians, but not one of them chose to report this important fact.

Samir Kuntar is a Lebanese terrorist who in 1979 infiltrated Israel and murdered four Israelis. Kuntar murdered his youngest victim, four-year-old Einat Haran, by repeatedly smashing her head with his rifle butt.

After being released from Israeli prison in 2006, Kuntar joined Hezbollah and was planning terror attacks against Israel when he was killed in Syria last week.

Child-killer Kuntar is the newest Palestinian Authority-Fatah superhero.

The following are 15 statements by PA and Fatah officials glorifying Kuntar and his “heroic” act of murder:

"The Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners' Affairs established a house of mourning for the most senior of Arab prisoners, Martyr (Shahid) Samir Kuntar, who Israel assassinated... Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake stated: 'Martyr Samir Kuntar is a Palestinian symbol...We gather today in honor of Martyr Kuntar, in order to accompany him to his wedding (i.e., Martyr’s funeral) as a Martyr, in the name of all the Palestinian people, and in order to emphasize to him and to everyone fighting for Palestine - you will remain present throughout our lives. We will not forget your heroic acts and sacrifice, and we will talk about you with all future generations. We will tell them: Kuntar rubbed the nose of the occupier in the dust here.’”
[Ma'an, independent Palestinian news agency, Dec. 22, 2015]

"Bassam Abu Sharif, advisor to the late President Yasser Arafat [and member of the Palestinian National Council, the legislative body of the PLO] stated: 'This terrorist act claimed the life of one of the Arab resistance heroes, Samir Kuntar, who had been released from the Israeli prison. This action, which claimed the life of the heroic Martyr (Shahid), is added to the international terrorist acts perpetrated by Israel.'”
[Donia Al-Watan (independent Palestinian news agency), Dec. 20, 2015]

“Fatah Central Committee member [and former head of the PA General Intelligence] Tawfiq Tirawi, condemned yesterday in an announcement, the assassination of fighter leader, released prisoner Samir Kuntar... Tirawi stated that this heinous crime is added to the history of terror by the Israeli occupation state, which insists on continuing with the killing and destruction anywhere it pleases... Tirawi expressed deep sorrow and extended his warm condolences to the family of the deceased Martyr, Samir Kuntar, who fought in the Palestinian revolution from a young age. He said that the grief for a fighter who dedicated his life to the Palestinian and Arab cause is the same in Palestine, Lebanon, and the [entire] Arab world."
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 21, 2015]

"The national and Islamic forces in the Ramallah and El-Bireh district set up a mourning tent to receive those offering condolences over leader Samir Kuntar's death as a Martyr (Shahid)...

In his speech in the name of the Fatah Central Committee, Fatah Central Committee member Azzam Al-Ahmad saluted Martyr Kuntar and his long path of struggle... The factions and those present eulogized the Martyr with short speeches, which noted his virtues and bravery... He sat for 27 years in the occupation's prisons, from the time he was a young boy, following a heroic operation."
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Dec. 23, 2015]

“Fatah Central Committee member [and former head of the PA General Intelligence] Tawfiq Tirawi, condemned yesterday [Dec. 20, 2015] in an announcement, the assassination of fighter leader, released prisoner Samir Kuntar... Tirawi stated that this heinous crime is added to the history of terror by the Israeli occupation state, which insists on continuing with the killing and destruction anywhere it pleases...
Tirawi stated that targeting the fighter Kuntar who [fought] at the battlefield against ISIS and the forces of darkness and terror, is a proof of the occupation government’s support of ISIS and its partnership with ISIS in causing the dissolution of the Arab states. This is in order to redraw the political map in the region in a manner that would serve the new colonialist conspiracy in the Arab region, which is aimed at eliminating the Palestinian cause.

Kuntar was sentenced by Israel to 4 life sentences. He was released in a deal between Israel and Hezbollah in July 2008, exchanged for the bodies of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, Israeli soldiers kidnapped and killed by Hezbollah in 2006.
On Dec. 19, 2015, he was killed in an explosion in Syria. An Israeli airstrike is suspected by some, though the Free Syrian Army took credit.

Palestinian organizations call for escalation of 'intifada'
Representatives of major Palestinian Arab organizations call for a continuation of the current wave of terror against Israelis.
By Dalit Halevi

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Ne...4#.VoK3G7YrLIU

Representatives of the major Palestinian Arab organizations gathered on Monday in Ramallah to discuss how to escalate the current terror wave against Israel, which they are calling the "Al-Quds Intifada".

In a statement released at the end of the meeting it was noted that "the assassinations of our people (Palestinians) in the streets amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity".

The Palestinian organizations called for a continuation of the intifada in all points of friction, military checkpoints in Judea and Samaria, and on the outskirts of the cities, primarily on Tuesdays and Fridays, and for a boycott Israeli products.

The goal of the Palestinian struggle, according to the statement, is to achieve "freedom, independence, securing the right of return of refugees, [and] the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem and sovereignty".

The statement follows a call last week for Palestinian Arabs to escalate the current terror wave against Israelis in the form of a “Day of Rage” every Tuesday and Friday.
The Islamic Jihad terrorist organization last week praised the current terror wave, which it described as a “knife revolution” and announced that it will not hesitate to escalate the “intifada” if necessary.

The Islamic Jihad’s comments followed similar ones by Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, who called for an escalation in the “intifada” until the “forces of the occupation withdraw and go away".

It should be noted that in the period between September 13 and December 23, 99 stabbings, 35 shootings and 21 car attacks were carried out.

Those attacks killed 24 Israelis and 259 were injured, 24 of them critically.

Exclamation Palestinians: Save Us from the Good-Hearted Westerners!

Palestinians: Save Us from the Good-Hearted Westerners!
by Bassam Tawil

January 1, 2016
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/71...inians-save-us

Every Palestinian knows in his heart that we do not want a state of our own alongside Israel, but rather instead of Israel. This includes all the land of Palestine and Israel. It means that Jews have no right to exist on even one speck of it.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas claims he wants to reach a peace agreement with Israel. But at the same time he and his henchmen incite the Palestinians to stab, run over and shoot Israelis to death, while he idealizes, glorifies and finances -- with the funds he receives from the West -- the terrorists and their families.

The Palestinian people are already almost totally radicalized, even in the West Bank. They do not seem concerned about living under an Islamist regime run by Hamas or Islamic State.

Abbas's goal is now, with the help of the international community, to impose a solution on Israel. The solution he seeks – a full withdrawal to the 1967 lines – would pose an existential threat to Israel. It would also just be a matter of time before the Palestinian state will be run by Hamas or Islamic State.

What can be done with these Americans and Europeans? They always seem pining for a dialogue between the Israelis and the Palestinians that would end in a peace agreement, yet oddly all of them seem aware that the Palestinians have not, in all honestly, met Israel's most minimal demands: the cessation of incitement (agreed to even under the Oslo accords -- and requiring no funding!) and the recognition of Israel as a Jewish State. Many throughout the world still view Israel as potentially the next -- and 22nd -- Arab state.

As hard as it is to say it, the Jews have a point. There is a legitimate concern that without such a stipulation, there will be two Palestinian States: the West Bank and Israel – actually three if you count Gaza.

The Americans and Europeans seem not to realize that, for the Jewish people, the request for a state has to be a precondition for any discussion of Jerusalem, as well, based on its history. Before 1967, when half of Jerusalem was in the hands of Jordan -- what the international community says it wants Israel to go back to -- around 38,000 ancient Jewish headstones were taken from the Mount of Olives cemetery by Arab residents and used to pave latrines.[1]

These good-hearted Americans and other Westerners nevertheless pressure Israel to act as the "responsible adult" and make unilateral gestures of goodwill. They ask the Israelis to withdraw from the occupied territories and to take Jewish residents of the West Bank settlements with them. They seem already to have forgotten what happened just over ten years ago, in the Gaza Strip, when the Israelis did offer a unilateral gesture of good will. The Israelis unilaterally evacuated every meter of Gaza in 2005, so the Palestinians could build a Singapore -- no conditions attached! In return, they were met by Hamas and a nine-year war of rockets. If anyone thinks the Israelis are about to try that again, they have a surprise coming.

As a Palestinian, I welcome the humanistic approach that calls on the strong to cede to the weak; but an honest examination of the issues makes me wonder if Westerners even understand the Middle East. In trying to find a just solution, they keep making every possible mistake. First, they keep demanding from the Israelis concessions that would undermine the country's security -- and they do not demand from the Palestinians so much as a statement, such as "Israel has the right to exist."

Westerners, it seems, want to frighten Israel into making concessions. What seems to have been forgotten is that under UN Security Council Resolution 242, the territories would be occupied until the dispute is settled. Now, that makes a nice game of rope-a-dope: You never end the dispute, so the territory stays occupied, then you blame the other side for occupying you! Even we can see that.

The Westerners' latest good-hearted demand -- so devastating to the employment situation for Palestinians -- is to label goods from the occupied territories. This requirement is asked of no other occupying nation: not Russia in Crimea and Ukraine, Turkey in Cyrus, Pakistan in Kashmir, nor China in Tibet. It is basically a form of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS), presumably intended to crush Israel economically.

What these good-hearted Westerners fail to see is that their threats only strengthen Israel's perception of danger, and end up creating a result that is the opposite of what the Europeans intended. Instead of bringing the Israelis and the Palestinians to the negotiating table, such a move understandably strengthens Israel's resolve to protect itself. But exerting pressure on Israelis will not induce them to commit collective suicide. Rather, it will make both the Israelis and Palestinians more intransigent than ever.

The American threat of Israel turning into a binational state is meant to frighten Israel into waiving its vital interests while getting nothing from the Palestinians in return. In reality, the threat just stiffens the Palestinians' resolve and keeps our leaders from granting even the least of Israel's demands. The American threat is an obstacle to peace.

Most of all, what, staggeringly, Westerners do not seem to understand, is that the aim of the current incitement and attacks by the Palestinian Authority (PA) comes from a desire to replace Israel with a Palestinian state.

Look for a minute at the Palestinian Authority. In the Middle East, sooner or later, anything that can collapse, collapses -- regardless of efforts to shore it up. The Israelis, all too experienced in such matters, are understandably not about to cast their lot with the PA's current leader, Mahmoud Abbas. The death rattle of his regime gets louder every week, as even Westerners can surely see. So if the PA can expire at any time, how can anyone even think of asking the Israelis to place their future in Abbas's trembling hands? Do Westerners seriously mean for the Israelis to give up their security in return for the empty promises of a regime a few faltering steps from implosion?

Unfortunately, the Israelis already know -- again from history -- that so far, at least, Palestinian promises are not worth an old shoe. Again, just as one example, in the Oslo Accords, the Palestinians signed an agreement no longer to use terrorism to advance political aims.

Mahmoud Abbas may serve as the President of Palestine, but whom does he represent? He certainly does not represent the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and anyplace else there are Palestinians. He does not even represent the Palestinians in his own West Bank. Broad swaths of Palestinians in the West Bank no longer consider Abbas their lawful representative. His term of office ended years ago; he is now in the eleventh year of his four-year term. I can promise to sell you that that olive tree over there, but what do I do if it is not my olive tree to sell? He cannot truthfully promise anything to anyone.

The Palestinians in Gaza also reject the legality of Abbas's reign. They support Hamas. Not only that, but in the West Bank, supporters of Hamas make up roughly half of the population. Their goal is to destroy the Palestinian Authority and Mahmoud Abbas along with it.

Israelis therefore regard the Palestinian president as terminally ill, on life support -- also known as the Israeli security forces, Israeli economic support and Western handouts.

Despite relying totally on this charity, Abbas's position is so weak that to remain in power, he needs to pander to his opponents, to the "resistance front" and the Islamist terrorist organizations in the Palestinian camp. He therefore claims he wants to reach a peace agreement with Israel and that "Palestinian hands are extended in peace;" but at the same time he relentlessly attacks Israel on the international front, in UN agencies and in the International Criminal Court. Meanwhile, he and his henchmen incite the Palestinians to stab, run over and shoot Israelis to death, while he idealizes, glorifies and finances -- with the funds he receives from the West -- the terrorist "shaheeds" [martyrs] and their families.

Hamas and ISIS at least tell the truth. They openly and repeatedly declare their intentions to destroy "infidel" places such as Israel and Rome -- the same way Islam conquered the former seat of Christianity, Constantinople. Mahmoud Abbas, by contrast, is a merely a cowardly hypocrite who successfully dupes the world by talking peace while inciting terror.

If an Islamist terrorist organization does take control of the Palestinian Authority, it will actually make life far easier for Israel. Israel will be able to explain its security position to the world and fight terrorism in the occupied territories -- without having to negotiate, make concessions or beg the Palestinians for recognition.

There are some Israelis who worry about the possible fall of Mahmoud Abbas and a radical Islamist takeover of the West Bank. But no Western country will support the establishment of an Islamic emirate in the West Bank. The Islamists will kill the Palestinian Authority's leaders, the same way Hamas did in 2006-2007 in Gaza. And as usual, only the Palestinians will suffer.

The only people rightly frightened by the thought of a Hamas or ISIS takeover of the West Bank are Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah loyalists. The Palestinian leadership will be summarily executed and their ill-gotten gains confiscated.

The Palestinian people, on the other hand, already almost totally radicalized, and do not seem even slightly concerned about living under an Islamist regime run by Hamas or Islamic State. They are Muslims: many feel it will make them more pure.

The Palestinian refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state is not only a matter of semantics that could change over time. It is a deep-seated ideology that will never change; it is part and parcel of the militant Palestinian-Islamist perception that the Jews are a religious sect -- not a nation -- and therefore not deserving of sovereignty, a homeland or nationhood.

The Palestinians, like other Muslims all over the world, believe that any land once conquered by Islam becomes part of the waqf, Islam's religious endowment, owned by Islam in perpetuity. This includes the land of Palestine and Israel, and means that the Jews have no right to exist on even one speck of it.

Our leaders know that recognition of the Jewish state would mean relinquishing the "right of return" of the Palestinian refugees to the State of Israel, and instead settling them only in the future Palestinian state. They simply cannot agree to that.

Every Palestinian knows in his heart that we do not want a state of our own alongside Israel, but rather instead of Israel. Palestinians have not relinquished, and will not relinquish, the right of return; deep down, they hope it will lead to Israel's demographic extinction and, on its ruins, the establishment of a State of Palestine.

The Jews living in the Middle East understand Middle Eastern dynamics and the challenge of maintaining an independent, democratic state in a region beset by chaos and internecine conflict. They know that anyone who blinks is perceived as weak, and that any blink is perceived by an adversary as an open door.

Despite the threats from the West, the Israelis do not seem particularly shaken. Israel has opened vast new markets in the Far East and appear to be doing brilliantly. Demographically, the number of Jews between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea is rising.

What our past-the-expiry-date leaders have failed to grasp is that the Israelis have set a trap for us: they are building their plans on the foundation of our intransigence. Our leaders are only encouraged by the false hopes and unreasonable expectations given them by the good-hearted Westerners.

Their intentions may even be good, but they persistently refuse to see that our leaders simply do not have the will, the courage or the ability to deliver so much as a dish full of mud. Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority leadership prefer to leave things as they are rather than be denounced as traitors by their people for sitting with Israelis at a negotiating table.

Arab Israeli cell busted gun running, planning attacks
4 Arab citizens indicted for gun trade, violent riots, and planning to shoot police or burn police station - before getting cold feet.
By Shlomo Pyotrkovsky

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Ne...9#.Voa9KLYrLIU

The Israeli Security Agency (ISA) and police revealed on Thursday that in November they arrested four Arab citizens of Israel from Jaljulia, located on the coast east of Herzliya, on suspicions of illegally selling weapons and taking part in violent riots during October.

The four were named as Yahi Farid Ibrahim Abu Hajla, Fares Ismail Mahmoud Faki, Mahmoud Teysir Itman Fayume, and Uday Kaed Hassan Harbush, all from Jaljulia and aged between 18 and 22.

Mahmoud Fayume was arrested as part of the investigation as he was returning to the coastal area town from Shechem (Nablus) in Samaria. In Shechem, he had met with a local weapons dealer about purchasing a handgun.

Under interrogation, Fayume revealed his friends were also involved in the illegal weapons trade and let slip their support for the Hamas terrorist organization. Based on that information, the other three terrorists were arrested. In the investigation, Yahi Hajla revealed that he was involved in buying and selling weapons of various makes.

From the ISA interrogation, it was also discovered that during October the four planned to conduct a shooting attack on a police car in Jaljulia, or else to burn a police station in the city by using firebombs - although in the end they got cold feet, fearing that they would be caught.

It was also learned in the interrogation that Yahi Hajla, Fares Faki and Uday Harbush took part in violent riots, in which they burned tires and threw potentially lethal rocks at the police during the month of October.

However, the investigation found that the four-man cell primarily dealt in crimes and weapons trade, as opposed to outright terror attacks and logistics.

According to the ISA's estimation, the arrest of the four prevented them from becoming more actively involved in terrorism.

Based on the findings of the investigation, the central district attorney's office submitted indictments against Mahmoud Fayume and Yahi Hajla at the Lod District Court on charges of weapons trade and criminal offenses. Indictments were submitted to the Magistrate's Court against Fares, Hajla and Harbush for disturbing the public order.

Exclamation Slain Hizballah Terrorist Reportedly Planning Major Iran-Ordered Attack on Israel

Slain Hizballah Terrorist Reportedly Planning Major Iran-Ordered Attack on Israel
by IPT News

http://www.investigativeproject.org/...tedly-planning

Notorious Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar reportedly was killed Saturday night in Syria as he prepared a major attack against Israel, according to Western sources and reported by YNet News.

Israeli officials are not commenting, but are suspected of being behind the long-range precision-guided missiles to neutralize Kuntar's terrorist plans – which were directly financed and supported by Iran. Kuntar was reportedly killed in the Damascus operations center that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) helped set up for the terrorist to coordinate plots against the Jewish state, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Kuntar was 16 years old in 1979 when he and three other members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) sneaked into Israel, killing a policeman and kidnapping a man and his 4-year-old daughter, Einat Haran. Kuntar killed the little girl by smashing her head with his rifle butt. Compounding the tragedy, Haran's other daughter, a 2-year-old, was accidentally suffocated by her mother as she tried to keep the girl from crying out as they hide from the terrorists in their apartment.

Upon his release, Kuntar said he regretted nothing and received a hero's welcome in Lebanon.

Kuntar reportedly became an influential figure in Hizballah after this release, but may have gone his own way after disagreements concerning attacking Israel. Acting on Iranian orders and working with pro-Assad militias in Syria, Kuntar helped create cells to plant bombs at Israel's border, fire missiles, and conduct cross-border infiltrations.

The Hizballah rift allegedly began after Jihad Mughniyeh – son of assassinated terrorist leader Imad Mughniyeh – replaced Kuntar as commander of Iranian-Hizballah operations in the Golan Heights.
In January, another airstrike attributed to Israel targeted a Hizballah convoy seeking to attack Israel from the Golan. It included a senior Iranian general and Jihad Mugniyeh.

Even though Hizballah stopped working with Kuntar, he continued to plan attacks against Israel through his ethnic-kin Druze connections who supported the Assad regime.

The Lebanese Shi'ite terrorist organization feared that a Kuntar-led attack against Israel would invite Israeli intervention that would hinder current Iranian-Hizballah objectives in Syria. These reports indicate that several actors may have had a reason to kill Kuntar.

Three rockets were fired at Israel from Lebanon following Kuntar's death, falling into open northern territory. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by striking terrorist targets in southern Lebanon with artillery fire on Sunday.

Exclamation Palestinian Leaders Promise a New Year of Violence and Death

Palestinian Leaders Promise a New Year of Violence and Death
by Khaled Abu Toameh

January 4, 2016
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/71...ians-new-years

Instead of wishing Palestinians a happy and prosperous New Year, both Fatah and Hamas are asking their people to prepare for increased violence and "resistance," including suicide bombings, against Israelis.

Fatah's armed wing used the occasion to issue yet another threat: "We will continue in the path of the martyrs until the liberation of all of Palestine."

Masked Palestinians in Bethlehem attacked several restaurants and halls where New Year's Eve parties were supposed to take place. The assailants, eyewitnesses reported, were affiliated with Abbas's Fatah faction, not Hamas.

Hamas banned Gazans from celebrating New Year's Eve, saying such parties are "in violation of Islamic teachings." Hamas does not want young Palestinians enjoying their time in restaurants and cafes. Instead, Hamas wants them to join its forces, armed and dressed in military fatigues, preparing for jihad against Israel.

After failing to offer their people any hope for the future, Fatah and Hamas are now telling Palestinians that they should expect more violence and bloodshed during in 2016.

In separate messages to the Palestinians on New Year's Eve, the two rival Palestinian parties pledged to pursue, and even step up, "resistance" attacks against Israel. Needless to say, the messages did not make any reference to peace, coexistence or tolerance.

Instead of wishing Palestinians a happy and prosperous New Year, both Fatah and Hamas are asking their people in the Gaza Strip and West Bank to prepare for increased violence and "resistance" attacks against Israel. The two parties have nothing to offer the Palestinians besides more bloodshed and despair.

Hamas, which has been in power in the Gaza Strip for almost 10 years, is even reported to be preparing for a new wave of suicide bombings against Israelis. The last time Hamas launched suicide attacks in Israel was during the second intifada, 2000-2005, which wrought havoc and destruction to Palestinians.

Various reports have suggested that Hamas was now considering activating its West Bank "sleeper cells," in preparation for resuming suicide bombings against Israelis. Hamas, according to the reports, is also planning to target Israeli security and political figures.

Hussam Badran, a senior Hamas official in the Gaza Strip, painted a grim picture of what awaits Palestinians during 2016. In a message to Palestinians, Badran announced that the current wave of terrorism, which he referred to as the "Al-Quds Intifada," would escalate during the coming year. He also hinted that Hamas was indeed considering resuming suicide attacks against Israelis: "The year 2016 will witness a development and escalation of the intifada and all forms of resistance operations."

His message, like those of many Hamas officials, did not contain any reference to the harsh living conditions of Palestinians under the rule of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. When Badran and other Hamas officials talk about waging "all forms of resistance" against Israel, they are actually referring to plans to launch suicide bombings and other terror attacks against Israelis.

The Hamas New Year's messages do not offer Palestinians in the Gaza Strip any hope that their leaders are working towards ending their misery and state of despair. There is no promise to help solve the problem of unemployment or poverty in the Gaza Strip. Nor is there any promise to help solve the crisis with Egypt, one which has resulted in the closure of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt for most of 2015.

As if that were not enough, Hamas last week banned Palestinians in the Gaza Strip from celebrating New Year's Eve. Hamas security officers warned owners of restaurants and hotels against holding New Year's Eve parties, saying that this practice is "alien to our traditions and values and in violation of Islamic teachings." Hamas also justified the ban by arguing that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip must show solidarity with their brothers in the West Bank, who have been waging a campaign of stabbing and vehicular attacks against Israelis since early October.

By banning New Year's Eve celebrations, Hamas is following the example of other Islamist terror groups such as the Islamic State, which have denounced such parties as "un-Islamic." These groups consider New Year's Eve celebrations as being part of the same Western culture they are seeking to replace with extremist Islam and Sharia law.

Hamas cannot tolerate scenes of Palestinians rejoicing and celebrating the arrival of a new year. It does not want to see young Palestinians enjoying their time in restaurants, cafes and hotels. Instead, Hamas wants young Palestinians to join its forces and prepare for jihad against Israel. Hamas prefers to see young Palestinians dressed up in military fatigues and carrying weapons. Exclamation Hezbollah sets off large border bomb targeting IDF heavy vehicles

Hezbollah sets off large border bomb targeting IDF heavy vehicles

http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Co...a-Farms-439330

No known injuries in attack; according to Lebanese news outlets, the IDF fired 20 shells toward the vicinity of Sheba Farms, which is also known as Har Dov.

Hezbollah sets off a large bomb on the Israel - Lebanon border, on the western section of Mount Dov on Monday, targeting two armored military vehicles that were clearing a road in the area.

The IDF has responded with cross-border artillery fire at targets into Lebanon.

IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Moti Almoz said two heavy armored vehicles, one of which was a D-9 bulldozer, were targeted in the Hezbollah attack, describing the explosive that was set off as "relatively large." "We have opened artillery fire, and created a smoke screen to cover the area. We are in control of the incident," Almoz said.

At this stage, there are no known injuries among IDF soldiers. Israeli farmers situated close to the Lebanese border have been moved back by the army. Beyond that, Almoz said, there are no special safety instructions for northern residents.

The army is in touch with security coordinators in northern communities, he added. The army is unaware of any cross-border infiltrations at this stage.

Almoz posted a Facebook statement, saying that the IDF completed a special security assessment meeting headed by Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot. "We view the incident with severity, and we are on high alert for as long as necessary," he said.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack on the IDF vehicles, according to Lebanese Al-Mayadeen television.

"A cell of the martyr Samir Kuntar detonated the large explosive in Sheba farms area in occupied Lebanon during an IDF patrol causing the destruction of a Hummer and injuring all its passengers," Hezbollah said.

Lebanese media reported that that the explosive was meant to harm a senior Mossad official.

Lebanese media earlier reported that Israeli shells were fired at the Sheba Farms region near the intersection of the Syrian, Israeli, and Lebanese frontiers.

The news reports north of the border are consistent with eyewitness accounts of Israelis on the Golan Heights who told The Jerusalem Post’s Hebrew-language sister publication Ma’ariv that they heard the roar of artillery fire over the weekend.

According to Lebanese news outlets, the IDF fired 20 shells toward the vicinity of Sheba Farms, which is also known as Mount Dov.

An Israeli military official told Ma’ariv on Sunday that the purpose of the artillery fire was to deter Hezbollah from planting explosives along the border in an effort to avenge the death of Samir Kuntar, the commander who was killed in an airstrike in Damascus. Israel is believed to be behind the killing, though Jerusalem did not confirm this.

“I cleared up this issue with the army after I received numerous complaints from residents,” a security guard in one of the Israeli towns along the border said. “A senior officer in the IDF Northern Command told me that there is a real concern that Hezbollah will plant a bomb along the border under the cover of fog, so whenever we spot suspicious activity we fire an artillery shell in that direction for the sake of deterrence.”

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, speaking a week after the assassination of Kuntar, praised the terrorist who killed four Israelis in an attack in Nahariya in 1979, saying he was an icon for the school of resistance.

“The Israelis are hiding like rats along the border,” he said. They are worried and they should be worried along the border and inside Israel. Their threats will not benefit them.

“The retaliation to Samir’s assassination will inevitably come,” Nasrallah said, adding that Hezbollah would not tolerate the “blood of our jihadist fighters and brothers to be shed anywhere in this world.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday sent an apparent message to Nasrallah in response, warning, "Our enemies should know that we will aggressively retaliate to any attack against us."

Netanyahu made the comments at an awards ceremony for outstanding Mossad employees just two days after Nasrallah vowed retaliation.

On Monday, Eisenkot said the military stands ready to face "any challenge" from the North, and Israel's enemies will pay a dear price if they seek to undermine Israeli security.

"Beyond our borders too, facing the threats we hear to the North, we stand ready for any challenge, and as we have proven in the past, we know how to find and hit all who seek our harm," Eisenkot said.

The chief of staff warned that "our enemies know that if they try to undermine the security of Israel, they will face severe consequences."

Maariv Online and Yasser Okbi contributed to this report.

Exclamation Lessons We Palestinians Can Learn

Lessons We Palestinians Can Learn
by Bassam Tawil

January 6, 2016
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/71...inians-lessons

Opinion polls show that the overwhelming majority of Palestinians support an armed campaign against Israel, and want to see Israel destroyed and a State of Palestine built on its ruins. The polls also show a troubling increase in popular support in the West Bank for Hamas, and a decrease in support for Mahmoud Abbas.

The greatest tragedy of the Palestinians is not 1948, it is 2015. The only thing the Palestinian leadership and terrorist organizations can agree on is their obsession to destroy the State of Israel.

It is particularly disappointing that we keep trying to defraud the Israelis and Americans with fictitious messages of peace and "two states for two peoples." We assume they have no intelligence at all, do not understand Arabic and cannot read our Facebook pages.

The time has come to try creating -- for the first time -- a peaceful and demilitarized Palestinian state, which the Israelis have indicated for decades they would be happy to help us achieve.

This past week, the Israelis arrested 25 Hamas terrorists in the West Bank, most of them students from Al-Quds University in Abu Dis. Not rebels without a cause or the unemployed with a chip on their shoulder, but the finest minds we have, the intellectuals of the future Palestinian academia! The group, which dealt with recruiting and guidance and was being handled by Hamas in Turkey and its terrorist wing the Gaza Strip, was planning to carry out suicide bombing attacks inside Israel.

The leaders of the terror cell arranged safe houses and storage sites, where they set up laboratories to manufacture explosives. They recruited Palestinians -- from Bethlehem, Hebron, Qalqilya and even from Jerusalem, as well as Arabs from the Israeli Negev -- to acquire the chemicals and other equipment necessary for making car bombs for these students, who were getting ready to die as suicide bombers.

The Israeli security forces uncovered the network and arrested its operatives, who had also been influenced by the Palestinian Authority's non-stop incitement of the Palestinian population. The Palestinian Authority (PA) wants to sacrifice our best and brightest to carry out terrorist attacks against Jews.

Unfortunately, recent events herald the end of the concept of establishing an independent state for the Palestinian people. The cracks in the wall of Palestinian history -- which is barely a hundred years old -- are growing wider. The attempts to repair the fabric of Palestinian society with neon colors are a failure. There is also internal friction among the various Salafist organizations (Hamas, ISIS, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad) and the PLO and Fatah and other West Bank terrorist organizations.

There is also the issue of inheritance: which organization will control the PLO? What are the differences in their agendas? The Hamas leadership in Gaza wants first to reconstruct the Gaza Strip and then renew the fighting with Israel. The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military-terrorist wing, demands the immediate renewal of attacks and rocket fire against Israel. Both are trying to establish new terrorist networks in the West Bank (like the one recently uncovered). The double objective of both groups is to kill Israelis and topple the Palestinian Authority.

We Palestinians seem incapable of agreeing on even the most basic productive and constructive issues, such as rebuilding houses, education, an intelligent use of the hundreds of millions of dollars received as donations, opening the Rafah crossing and improving relations with the Arab world, especially Egypt. The greatest tragedy of the Palestinians is not 1948, it is 2015. The only thing the Palestinian leadership and terrorist organizations can agree on is their obsession to destroy the State of Israel and establish a Palestinian state on the ruins; and even there, they cannot agree on the ways, stages and means.

As long as the Palestinians thought they could get what they wanted through negotiations and intransigence, they concealed their true intentions. Recently, however, when it became clear the Israelis would not waive their demand for the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state or their determined objection to the right of return, Palestinian extremism came out of hiding. That is evident from the results consistently obtained by opinion polls, carried out by Palestinian polling centers, which show that the overwhelming majority of Palestinians support an armed campaign against Israel, and want to see it destroyed and the state of Palestine built on its ruins. The polls also show a troubling increase in popular support in the West Bank for Hamas, and a decrease in support for Mahmoud Abbas and the PA because of their inability to restore all of "occupied Palestine" to the Palestinians.

I wish we Palestinians were only smart enough to learn from the history of the Jews instead of totally rejecting them. We would immediately rid ourselves of Hamas and the other terrorist organizations. But instead we use them, because they kill Jews.

Unfortunately, the late Yasser Arafat thought it would be easier to force the Jews to make concessions if the negotiations were held in an atmosphere of terrorist attacks and to that end, he subcontracted to Hamas.

Hamas, like Frankenstein's monster, grew to become a large terrorist organization, now threatening not just Israel but the PLO and the Palestinian Authority. In consequence, we are forced to collaborate with the Israelis if we want to survive and avoid being swallowed whole by Hamas, as we were in Gaza. That is why the threats from the Palestinian Authority to stop intelligence collaboration with Israel are nonsense. As our rhetoric becomes more and more extremist, some Palestinians suffer from a passive desire to submit to Hamas, and fewer and fewer people dare to challenge Hamas instead of rejecting both it and the Muslim Brotherhood, and gaining the trust of wider, far more powerful backer: the world, the West, and even in some ways the Israelis. We are, instead, soaking up Hamas's destructive extremism. We allow Hamas to brainwash our younger generation with its fanatic -- and unproductive -- web of hate, destruction and death.

The Palestinian leadership has not yet internalized the bitter consequences of our fruitless terrorist attacks against Israel. The leadership uses its media to spread false propaganda about knives, stone-throwing and car ramming attacks, along with threats of another intifada. They do not realize that nothing will move the Israelis. Nothing will make them leave; nothing will make them give up one inch of land -- certainly not terrorism. That only strengthens their resolve. We keep making the awful and perhaps irreparable mistake of educating our children, generation after generation, to hate the Jews and Israelis and to want to destroy the State of Israel. At the same time, we can see that the Israelis and the Americans follow our every move, and document our hate propaganda. Little by little, our credibility is shredded as they lose their trust.

We broadcast children's programs promoting violence and hate on government-funded -- and government-run -- Palestinian TV, and at the same time expect the Israelis to make concessions to us that will compromise their security. How stupid is that? Then we continually brainwash viewers with the nonsense that, with the help of Allah, the State of Israel is temporary and will eventually cease to exist. Whom or what should the Israelis trust? The elderly Mahmoud Abbas, without support in his own country, waiting until the younger generation, brought up on hatred and war, pushes him out? We have the program "Children Speak," which declared on November 11, 2015, with absolute certainty, that Israel's end was just around the corner and that all the land of Palestine from 1948, "from the River to the Sea," including Israeli cities such as Haifa, Jaffa, Acre and Nazareth, "belong to us" and "will return to us." If you were the Israeli government, you would be suspicious too.

It is therefore mystifying why Greece's parliament would now symbolically (non-bindingly) recognize a Palestinian State -- thereby pushing actual Palestinian statehood farther away than ever. Abbas doubtless goes around trying to pick up such worthless endorsements, no doubt hoping that if he manages to bundle enough of them, stacks of internationally binding agreements will be bypassed and an actual Palestinian state, with no need for any concessions, might magically spring up.

Has no one in the intelligence services of either country noticed that, according to Palestinian TV (December 4, 2015),

some of the Palestinians who have lived on Palestinian land since 1948 did not leave and now defend the land from the abuse of the "racist occupation." The very fact that they still live on our land, despite the occupation's full control, means they preserve Palestinian existence and guard the land as Palestinian, and believe all the land will return to Palestinian control and be part of the state of Palestine.

Ahem. "The Palestinians who have lived on Palestinian land since 1948" are what the rest of the world calls "Israeli Arabs."

The above are two examples of official Palestinian propaganda spread by the Palestinian leadership, media and educational system throughout the Palestinian territories every hour of every day. According to Al-Hayat Al-Jadeeda, the official Palestinian newspaper, on December 10, 2015, Jihad Jayyusi, the Palestinian Authority's military liaison officer, visited a creative writing class in the Al-Awda girls' school in Bethlehem, and presented them with a plaque of "Palestine," which now includes all the territory of the State of Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. According to the same newspaper, on November 17, 2015, the prize in a photography contest held by the PLO's "prisoner department" was a map of "Palestine," which included the same territories.

Exclamation Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Responsible for Torture

Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Responsible for Torture
by Khaled Abu Toameh

January 8, 2016
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/71...inians-torture

For the mainstream media and human rights organizations, human rights violations are news only when they come with a "made in Israel" sticker on them.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has used international aid funds to build prisons and detention centers in the West Bank where torture has become the norm.

Dr. Ammar Dwaik, Director General of the Independent Commission for Human Rights, a Palestinian group, revealed that his group received 782 complaints regarding torture -- 168 in the West Bank and 614 in the Gaza Strip.

Both Hamas and the PA each fears that in a free election it could lose some of its power. Why hold an election if you are not sure about the results?

Needed desperately: scrutiny of Palestinian society by international media and human rights groups -- beginning with Palestinian prisons. Anyone stepping up?

The Palestinian Authority and Hamas are torturing Palestinians. Still.

The two Palestinian governments, the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, are both major violators of human rights. Assaults on public freedoms and crackdowns on political rivals are just the first chapters of a very long story.

Yet this narrative does not appeal to the international community, especially the mainstream media and human rights organizations in the West. For them, human rights violations are news only when they come with a "made in Israel" sticker on them.

Yet their obsession with Israel might just kill the Palestinians. Particularly at risk are those who daily put their lives on the line to halt Hamas and PA violence against their own people.

The Palestinian Authority has used international funds to build prisons and detention centers in the West Bank where torture has become the norm. And Hamas, which in 2007 seized control over the Gaza Strip, transformed the area into a radical Islamist emirate with a startling disregard for human rights and public freedoms.

The Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR), a Palestinian group that seeks to promote "inherent values of justice, equality and human rights," reports a dramatic rise over the past two years in the number of complaints about torture in Palestinian prisons run by Hamas and the PA.

Dr. Ammar Dwaik, Director General of ICHR, revealed that his group received 782 complaints regarding torture -- 614 in the Gaza Strip and 168 in the West Bank. Dwaik noted, however, that the large number of complaints does not necessarily indicate a "big violation" of human rights. Dwaik explained that the torture inflicted upon detained Palestinians by Hamas and PA investigators during interrogations is related to the absence of advanced equipment. "They have to rely mainly on extracting confessions (by force)," he said.

Dwaik means that Palestinian security services lack modern technological tools that could facilitate their work, such as the ability to conduct DNA tests or eavesdropping. That is why interrogators have to resort to violence and torture sometimes to extract confessions from suspects.

Dr. Ammar Dwaik (center), Director General of the Independent Commission for Human Rights, reports a dramatic rise over the past two years in the number of complaints about torture in Palestinian prisons run by Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. (Image source: ICHR)

Reporting that the number of complaints about torture in the Gaza Strip had sharply increased in 2014 and 2015, Dwaik also blamed economic hardship for the grave human rights violations. He noted the anger and frustration of security officials in the Gaza Strip, many of whom have not received salaries for months. Still, he added, this does not justify torture.

Dwaik also stated that the ICHR received complaints about the detention by the Palestinian Authority and Hamas of 35 Palestinian journalists in 2015. At least another 15 Palestinians were summoned for interrogation or briefly detained for posting controversial comments on social media, especially Facebook.

In recent years the ICHR has made some progress toward raising awareness of human rights among the Palestinian security forces, according to Dr. Dwaik. Yet this progress is likely to be a drop in the proverbial bucket until the international community and media start showing serious interest in the human rights abuses perpetrated by Hamas and the PA.

These undemocratic and repressive regimes have proven themselves utterly incapable of mustering even a minimal degree of tolerance for dissent.

Hamas and the Palestinian Authority also deprive Palestinians of freedom of expression and freedom of the press. In Hamas- and PA-run areas, the right to hold free and fair elections is a dream. For an entire decade, Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip have been unable to vote for a new parliament and president. Neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority desires such elections, each for excellent reasons of its own.

Each side fears that in a free election it could lose some of its power. Why hold an election if you are not sure about the results?

In addition, how can the elections be fair and free when the two parties are cracking down on each other's supporters?

For both of these regimes, the status quo works. Hamas has within its clutch the entire Gaza Strip, while the Palestinian Authority is sitting pretty in the West Bank, under the protection of the Israel Defense Forces. As every Palestinian child knows, whither the IDF goes, so goes the Palestinian Authority.

Sixty years of failed leadership: that is the true Palestinian tragedy.

Needed desperately: scrutiny of Palestinian society by international media and human rights groups -- beginning with a good look Palestinian prisons -- to jump-start a Palestinian street intifada against its true oppressors, its leaders. Anyone stepping up?

Exclamation Fatah, Hamas pledge more violence against Israel in 2016

Analysis: Fatah, Hamas pledge more violence against Israel in 2016

http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Co...in-2016-440783

Hamas, which has been in power in Gaza for almost 10 years, is reported to be preparing for a new wave of suicide bombings against Israelis.

It wants the young men, instead of celebrating and rejoicing, to participate in digging more tunnels under Gaza's borders with Israel and Egypt.

Similarly, President Mahmoud Abbas's ruling Fatah faction in the West Bank, which this week celebrated the 51st anniversary of its first armed attack against Israel, is hoping that 2016 will witness more violence. Several Fatah officials and groups marked the anniversary by vowing to step up "resistance" against Israelis and urging Palestinians to join the "struggle" against Israel.

Fatah's armed wing, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, used the occasion to issue yet another threat to launch terror attacks against Israelis. "We remain committed to the option of an armed struggle," the group rote in a leaflet distributed in the West Bank. "We will continue in the path of the martyrs until the liberation of all of Palestine."

President Mahmoud Abbas, who is also head of Fatah, also had nothing to offer his people on New Year's Eve, other than more messages of hate and defiance towards Israel. In a message to his people, Abbas once again justified the current wave of violence by saying it was the "result of the continuation of occupation and settlements, and the desecration of our holy sites." He added: "Our people won't capitulate, surrender or accept humiliation."

As Abbas was addressing his people, masked Palestinians in Bethlehem attacked several restaurants and halls where New Year's Eve parties were supposed to take place. Eyewitnesses said that the masked men opened fire at the restaurants, halls and vehicles, to prevent Palestinians from celebrating. The assailants, eyewitnesses reported, were affiliated with Abbas's Fatah faction, not Hamas.

The leaders of Fatah and Hamas have once again shown they have nothing to offer the Palestinians other than violence, destruction and death. These leaders want their people to remain in a combatant mood in order to pursue the fight against Israel. As such, the year 2016 does not look very promising for Palestinians under the current leadership of Fatah and Hamas.

Exclamation Hizbullah: Our Goal Is To Eliminate Israel

January 12, 2016
Special Dispatch No.6258
http://www.memri.org/report/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/8945.htm

Hizbullah Deputy Secretary-General Na'im Qassem At Beirut Conference For Palestine:
Our Goal Is To Eliminate Israel

On December 8, 2015, the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine held its third annual conference in Beirut, under the title "Support the Al-Quds Intifada." The conference was attended by 300 activists and NGO representatives from 60 countries around the world, including representatives of Hizbullah and of Palestinian organizations such as the PLO, Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Among the speakers at the conference were Hizbullah deputy secretary-general Na'im Qassem, Hamas political bureau deputy head Isma'il Haniya, Islamic Jihad deputy secretary-general Ziad Al-Nakhala, Archbishop Atallah Hanna (Theodosios) of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, PLO secretary in Lebanon Fathi Abu Al-Ardat, and others. Some of the speeches included calls to eliminate Israel. For example, Hizbullah deputy secretary-general Na'im Qassem said that "eliminating Israel will remain the goal to which we aspire," and the chairman of the International Union of Resistance Clerics in Lebanon, Maher Al-Hammoud, likewise spoke of "eliminating the Zionist entity."[1]

Qassem, who was one of the prominent speakers at the conference, also praised the stabbing and vehicular attacks carried out by Palestinians in Israel, calling them "resistance operations"; stated that the right of return was part of the liberation of Palestine; warned against accepting any settlement with Israel; and stressed that all of Hizbullah's actions were for the sake of Palestine and that Iran, too, supported the Palestinian cause politically, militarily, financially and culturally. He stated further that the Sunni terrorist organizations in the region were part of Israel's regional plan, and demanded that the Arab and Muslim world return the Palestinian cause to the top of its agenda. At the same time, he urged the Palestinians not to interfere in Arab matters that do not concern them directly, threatening that, if they do, the resistance will remove their cause from its agenda.

Palestinian speakers at the conference likewise praised the current intifada and called to continue it, while exhorting the Arab and Muslim world to support it and to place the Palestinian cause at the head of its agenda again, and not to relinquish the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their homes.

The conference's closing statement called, inter alia, to ingrain the Palestinian cause in the consciousness of the Arabs, the Muslims and the world; promote the boycott of Israel and punish anyone pursuing normalization with it; and promote the rights of the Palestinians while employing all means sanctioned by international resolutions to protect it and underscore the right of return.[2]

Towards the end of the conference several individuals and organizations were given awards, including 'Ahd Al-Tamimi, a young Palestinian woman who, at the age of 14, struck an Israeli soldier, and Greek sociologist Vangelis ****ias, who organized flotillas to Gaza.

Below are translated excerpts from Qassem's lengthy address, and, following that, from other speeches that were delivered at the conference:

Na'im Qassem: Eliminating Israel Will Remain Our Goal; The Right Of Return Is Part Of Liberation
Qassem opened by congratulating the young men and women throughout Palestine who are participating in the current intifada, as well as the conference organizers for championing the cause of Palestinian return in order to liberate all of Palestine "from the [Mediterranean] Sea to the [Jordan] River." He praised the stabbing and vehicular attacks that he claimed were doing the job of firearms, saying: "The third intifada is a sign that resistance in Palestine is not a transient movement and is one of the [indisputable] truths of the Palestinian right. It also [demonstrates] that jihad and resistance have renewed their activity, along with this new generation, thus belying all the theories that the Zionists and their supporters have tried to establish, [namely] that the Palestinian cause could fade away with time and that the new generation was incapable of bearing the old burden and [demanding] the unwavering right. O youths of jihad in Palestine, you have again proven that Palestine is [ingrained] in the heart and in the conscience. It is present in the embryos [still] in their mothers' womb, in the young, in the upbringing [of the new generation], in every scream of a mother or daughter and every sortie of a jihad fighter or an ordinary man – until the strength of this people, which stubbornly insists on withstanding Israel's arrogance, will be complete. Thus you are restoring to the Palestinian cause its vitality and its standing."

Na'im Qassem (third from the right) and other speakers at the conference (Image: Naimkassem.net)

Qassem continued: "The [current] intifada generation is renewing the resistance and aiding it with new forces and new action, and this confirms that resistance is [a matter of] willpower, not of weapons or international support, and that it is an act of faith. Such faith, if it exists, provides positions and capabilities that prompt a change in the equation – [a change] that arises from simple and modest capabilities, or even from nothing. You see today that the knife is doing the job of the missile, and that vehicular [attacks] are accomplishing what some weapons cannot. The man of the Palestinian resistance is the Palestinian nobleman who stands proudly when he approaches carrying out his jihadi duty, and whose operation in the field is guided by this reality, regardless of his age, character, or status. Therefore, I say that the future favors the resistance, and does not favor the occupation, even if [the occupation] lasts a long time. The right of return is part of the liberation that will be carried out, with Allah's will, by the youth of Palestine and the Palestinian people, who will be the spearhead, and we will support [them]..."

The Resistance Must Not Be Blocked Just For An Arrangement With Israel
Qassem warned against any arrangement whatsoever with Israel, and proposed waiting for the right moment to vanquish Israel by means of the resistance: "We must beware of the equation that Netanyahu is drawing. He says that the problem lies not with the occupation but with the conditions of the arrangement. There are those even within Palestine and within the Arab states who are headed in this direction... We warn that the problem is the occupation, and that the problem must remain the occupation. The arrangement is no solution... The problem is the occupation and the solution must be its removal. We will not agree to less than the removal of the occupation as a solution to the Palestinian issue."

He continued: "We must not look at the resistance's current strength and the diplomatic situation in which we are living. We must preserve the process, and when the opportunity [arises], we will take advantage of the resistance movement and of the unexpected developments, and of the divine intention that will arrive at the time and under circumstances that only Allah knows, and then we will already be on the correct path to the goal. Whoever goes on the correct path towards the goal will ultimately take advantage of the opportunity and be victorious, even if he does not know when this will come about and how it will be. Here, I turn to the political leadership, and to the forces responsible for running the resistance, and to the organizations operating in the struggle against the occupation, [and I say] that they are responsible for preserving, taking advantage of, directing, and sponsoring this achievement [i.e. the intifada]. I warn against blocking the intifada for the sake of a [diplomatic] arrangement [with Israel], because the intifada is an act of resistance. [If you do not want to encourage it,] at least allow it to continue and to progress with its capabilities, and do not divert it from its path, claiming that doing so is a service to Palestine. Service to Palestine is the continuation of resistance and intifada, and no other path."

Iran Supports Political And Military Resistance In Palestine
Next in his speech,Qassem attempted to rebut accusations that Hizbullah has deviated from its path because of its military involvement in Syria, Iraq, and perhaps additional places in the Arab world. He said that everything that Hizbullah was doing was for the sake of Palestine: "We place our reliance on the resistance plan, as a plan that begins with Palestine and spreads to the entire Arab, Islamic, and global reality. Oh proud Palestinian people, be assured that Hizbullah is at your side, Iran is at your side, the resistance axis is with you, the honorable peopleare with you. Anyone backed by [such] supporters has to succeed. All the achievements of the resistance axis are in the service of the Palestinian cause. Every achievement of the resistance plan, everywhere, that you read about or see, is for the sake of Palestine, and that is how it will continue to be."

Stressing Iran's support for the Palestinian cause, Qassem said: "You know that Iran... really turned aroundimmediately after the victory, with the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iranin 1979. Iran transformed the process of [the Arab and Muslim] defeat into one of victory and continuity; it transformed the process of surrender into one of heroic stance and valor. It has provided all [possible] diplomatic, military, economic, and cultural support for the Palestinian cause. They punished Iran and plotted against it because of its worthy and just positions. This causes us to support this country and this blessed revolution, that give [importance] to a stance and to truth, and not to exploitation or extortion... I promise you that developments in the region are trending positively in favor of the resistance axis."

At the same time, Qassem criticized the U.S. for its support of Israel, saying: "The U.S. and international sponsorship in all our causes, first of all for the Palestinian cause, is dubious, biased [towards Israel], conniving, and in collusion with Israel. These Americans justify the killing, provide sponsorship for the takfiri movements,[3] and act for the sake of Israel so that it will kill and wound the Palestinian people. They are silent about settlements and occupation, and support it with money, arms, and capabilities. This is not sponsorship; it is collusion. Likewise, we stand against the arrogant and aggressive Israel that thinks it can do whatever it wants. This arrogance is already finished, beginning with the resounding Israeli failure in 2006 at the hands of Hizbullah's young jihad fighters. Additionally, Israel's willpower has been broken three times by the young Palestinian jihad fighters in the Gaza Strip. This means that we can leverage these results and reach the longed-for resolution."

ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Jabhat Al-Nusra – All Part Of The Israeli Plan
With regard to the Sunni terrorist organizations and the resistance axis efforts to fight them, Qassem called them part of the Israeli plan, and said that they will not succeed in removing the Palestinian issue from the top of the agenda: "ISIS, Jabhat Al-Nusra, and Al-Qaeda are spreading throughout our region, and this distracts us from the Palestinian issue, but we will not allow them to [cause the] ummah to squander its capabilities on civil wars thatpass from one country to the next and wantonly destroy the capabilities of the Arab and Muslim countries – which serves the Israeli plan. We have seen the takfiri everywhere, but we have not seen them in Palestine. We have seen the takfiri killing Muslims, Christians, pagans, and all the forces [that exist], but they have not killed a single Zionist. We have seen the takfiri attempting to disrupt our lives from A to Z, but we have not seen them throw even one small stone at Israel. This means that they are part of this plan.

"We say to them [i.e. the takfiri]: If you think that you can, by means of clashes with us, divert us from prioritizing above all else the conflict with Israel in Palestine, then you are deluding yourselves. Palestine will remain at the top of the agenda; so will Jerusalem. And eliminating Israel will remain the goal to which we aspire."

He continued: "All the handshakes between [Arab figures and Israelis], and the Arab haplessness, are marginal and have no impact. Therefore we will speak no more about handshakes, a meeting, an agreement, normalization [with Israel]; these are contemptible and have no impact. We are convinced that as long as the resistance burns, and as long as the Palestinian people remain in the field, the Arabs, Muslims or others have no capability to change the trajectory of the Palestinian cause and the liberation of Palestine.

Palestinians' Involvement In Matters That Don't Concern Them Will Harm Their Interests
Calling on the Palestinians and the various Palestinian organizations to refrain from taking a stand on matters in the Arab and Muslim world that do not directly concern them, Qassem said that this could harm the Palestinian cause, and remove it from the top of the agenda. With these statements, Qassem appears to be hinting at the position taken by Hamas several years ago vis-à-vis the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and the support it expressed for the Syrian revolution – which did damage to Hamas's relations with the entire resistance axis. He said: "We are not counting on the Arabs coming together [around the Palestinian cause]... but they must know that Palestine is our top priority, and our top priority for Palestine is liberation...[We say to]our brothers and sisters in the Palestinian forces, and to the Palestinian people: We will not demand that you stand for something or against someone [on issues unrelated to the Palestinian cause]... because if you do, you will lose your standing, and your role, for Palestine. But if you leave the [matters that belong to] others alone, and stick to your own cause, and do not entangle yourself insupporting those who are right or wrong [on things that are] unrelated to Palestine – then your cause will remain central ..."

Finally, Qassem concluded his speech by congratulating "the martyrs, the wounded, and the people of the Palestinian intifada, who have brought Palestine to the forefront. Our voices must be well [heard], for their sake. Just as knife [attackshave] had an impact, and as vehicular [attacks] have had an impact, [our] voice will have an impact as well. Proof of this is that they [the Saudis] would not stand for the voiceof [Hizbullah's] Al-Manar [TV] or [the pro-Hizbullah Lebanese] Al-Mayadeen [TV, and pressured Arabsat to stop carrying these channels]. Know that this was an indication that these two voices are like a knife and a rocket – because they are voices that speak for Palestine. Palestine alone is a force that stands on its own, and those who walk with it, carry it, and defend it will be given strength by the grace of Allah."[4]

Palestinian Officials: No Relinquishing Of The Right Of Return; "The Time For General Mobilization... Is Now"
In their speeches at the conference, officials from the main Palestinian organizations – Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and the PLO – repeatedly stressed that they would not relinquish the right of return, and called for unity and for the Arab world to once again give top priority to the Palestinian cause.

Isma'il Haniya: "We Will Continue The Intifada Until Liberation:
In a prerecorded video speech screened during the conference's closing session, Hamas political bureau deputy head Isma'il Haniya called on Arabs and Muslims to once again rally around the Palestinian cause, which he said had taken a back seat on the agenda: "The intifada will continue, even by force of inertia, because our people have embarked on a path and will never stop, even if everything surrounding it is dense and difficult in light of the fading international [interest in the] matter and the countries' and peoples' attending to their own problems and wounds... The intifada has not yet revealed all its [means and methods] to the occupation. This magnificent creative people, which began with rocks and continued with rockets, can persist in its resistance and its intifada, generation after generation, until liberation." He also called on the Arab and Islamic ummah to support the intifada in all possible ways.[5]

PIJ Representative: Now Is The Time For General Mobilization
PIJ deputy secretary-general Ziad Al-Nakhalastressed how important it was that the entire Islamic ummah support the Palestinian people and its struggle, particularly "the need to unite the pro-Palestinian political discourse, in order to protect the intifada and ensure its continuation, and to clarify that the enemy of the ummah is Israel." He continued: "We face an historic opportunity presented by the martyrs of the Al-Quds intifada, who marched on [the path of] conflict with the Israeli aggression apparatus – [a chance] for we Arabs and Muslims to all unite with the free peoples worldwide for Palestine and Jerusalem... The time for general mobilization, unity, and togetherness is now..."[6]

PLO Secretary In Lebanon: Establish International Tribunal To Try Israeli Criminals
PLO secretary in Lebanon Fathi Abu Al-Ardat stressed that the Palestinian people required both material and moral support. Without directly referring to the current wave of Palestinian stabbing attacks, he said that "the Israeli criminals must not feel immune to accountability" and stressed, "We must establish an international tribunal to try them for their crimes, since the settlements are a war crime, as are the ongoing arrests of prisoners and killing [of Palestinians] on the ground..."[7]

Archbishop Atallah Hanna: "No Relinquishing Of The Right Of Return"
A second prerecorded video speech screened at the conference's closing session was that of Archbishop Atallah Hanna (Theodosios) of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem. He stressed the importance of the Palestinian cause to all religions, and the Palestinian adherence to the right of return: "The Palestinian people's cause is a cause for us all, and is the cause of the Muslims, the Christians, the Palestinians, and the Arabs...

"No matter how long it takes, and how numerous the conspirators may be, the Palestinians will continue to adhere to Palestine, to Jerusalem as their spiritual and national capital, and to the right of return... The Palestinian who experienced the Nakba in 1948 and the Naksa in 1967 has the right to return to his homeland... There will be no relinquishing of the right of return, and of our right to Jerusalem and Palestine."[8]

Also speaking at the conference was Saleh Al-Khawaja, head of the committee to combat settlements and the separation fence. He criticized the "Judaization" of Jerusalem, calling it "ethnic cleansing and an organized crime" against the Palestinian people.[9]

Exclamation Fatah Airs Video Urging Killing Israelis By Any Means

Fatah Airs Video Urging Killing Israelis By Any Means
by IPT News

http://www.investigativeproject.org/...sraelis-by-any
• Jan 12, 2016

Fatah, the party of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, has called for killing all Israelis throughout the country – "in all their neighborhoods" – in a music video broadcast on Fatah-run Awdah TV channel on last week, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reported.

"Pick up your weapon and advance, Jerusalem is calling in pain," the song's lyrics say. "Come on, strike them, you have the strength. Turn your anger into the fire of Hell... Besiege them in all their neighborhoods. Drown them in a sea of blood. Kill them as you wish."

Young Arabs are depicted knocking over and a beating a Jewish man running down a street in Jerusalem, wearing a prayer shawl.

This song is yet another blatant example of violent Palestinian incitement emanating from across the societal and political spectrum that continues to encourage near-daily attacks against Jews and Israelis.

The music video also praises two Palestinian terrorists, including Muhammad Halabi who killed two Israeli civilians in an October stabbing attack. Fatah and the Palestinian Authority (PA) have honored Halabi and other terrorists in the past.

Last April, Abbas awarded medals to the first male and female Fatah members and the group's first "martyred" terrorist. Abbas has often directly contributed to the violent Palestinian incitement that fuels the ongoing wave of terrorism targeting Israelis.

The latest example of incitement comes amid another terrorist attack, as a Palestinian man was killed after attempting to stab an Israeli soldier in the Hebron area on Tuesday, the Times of Israel reports. Last week, another Palestinian terrorist was killed after seeking to stab Israeli soldiers near the same site – Beit Anun Junction.

Exclamation Palestinian Authority Antisemitism: Overview of 2015

Palestinian Authority Antisemitism:
Overview of 2015
by Itamar Marcus

January 14, 2016
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/72...y-antisemitism

Since the Palestinian Authority (PA) was established, and continuing throughout 2015, it has systematically used Antisemitism to indoctrinate young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. The PA has actively promoted religious hatred by demonizing Judaism and Jews, spreading libels that present Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity.

The PA presents Jews as possessing inherently evil traits. Jews are said to be treacherous, corrupt, allied with the devil, as well as descendants of apes and pigs. In 2015, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' advisor on Islam and head of PA Shari'ah courts taught on PA TV that Jews throughout history have represented "falsehood... evil... the devils and their supporters... the satans and their supporters." Accordingly, the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is a conflict of "Allah's project vs. Satan's project."

The official PA daily published an op-ed saying Jews "are thirsty for blood to please their god (against the gentiles), and crave pockets full of money." These Jewish "attributes" and traditions are presented as the unchangeable nature of Jews. These messages come from the top of the Palestinian Authority.

In 2015, children were broadcast on official PA TV reciting poems with strong Antisemitic content. Young kids had learned by heart that Jews are "most evil among creations," "barbaric monkeys" and "Satan with a tail."

According to the PA, the Jews' evil nature and corruption caused the nations of the world to take defensive measures. The PA regularly claims that Jews were forced out of Europe in the past because of the threat that their "evil nature" posed to Europeans. These Jewish "traits" and "ways of behavior" constitute a danger, not only to all Muslims and Arabs but to all of humanity. As taught in a religious lesson on official PA TV: "Humanity will never live in comfort as long as the Jews are causing devastating corruption throughout the land... If a fish in the sea fights with another fish, I am sure the Jews are behind it."

The Russian forgery The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is said to be an authentic Jewish text in which the Jews exposed their plan to rule over all humanity. Indeed, the Antisemitism and oppression Jews have suffered throughout history is presented as the legitimate response of nations seeking revenge for the injury that the Jews caused them. The creation of the State of Israel is said to have been a European plot, motivated by the Europeans' desire to get rid of the Jews and save Europe from the evils of the Jews among them.

The following are examples of Antisemitic statements by Palestinian Authority and Fatah leaders as well as Antisemitic content broadcast on official Palestinian Authority television and published in the official Palestinian Authority daily....

Exclamation How (and Why) Palestinian Leaders Scare the World

How (and Why) Palestinian Leaders Scare the World
by Khaled Abu Toameh

January 15, 2016
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/72...tinian-leaders

Abbas has perfected the art of financial extortion. Every Monday and Thursday, as it were, the Palestinian Authority (PA) president has threatened to resign and/or dissolve the PA. This tactic has a twofold aim: cold hard European and American cash, and a gaze directed away from the PA's turmoil.

The PA wants the following response from the international community: "Oh my God, we must do something to salvage the peace process. We need to put even more pressure on these Israelis before matters get out of hand."

Abbas wants the world's eyes on Israel -- and Israel alone. That way, the fierce behind-the-scenes battle for succession that has been raging among the top brass of the Palestinian leadership in the West Bank will stay far from the limelight.

The PA seeks a solution imposed upon Israel by the international community. Why negotiate when Western powers are prepared to do everything to see Israel brought to its knees?

What do you do when your home has become hell?

If you are Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, you divert attention from the mess as fast as possible.

For a start, Abbas is trying to scare the international community into believing that without increased pressure on Israel, the Palestinian Authority (PA) will be forced to resort to unilateral measures, such as attempting to create new "facts on the ground" in the West Bank.

Next, Abbas is threatening to renew the Palestinian call for convening an international conference for peace in the Middle East and to step up rhetorical attacks against Israel.

Finally, Abbas has perfected the art of financial extortion. Every Monday and Thursday, as it were, the PA president has threatened to resign and/or dissolve the PA. This tactic has a twofold aim: cold hard European and American cash and a gaze directed away from the PA's turmoil.

Abbas wants the world's eyes on Israel -- and Israel alone. That way, the fierce behind-the-scenes battle for succession that has been raging among the top brass of the Palestinian leadership in the West Bank will stay far from the limelight.

This week, Abbas's spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudaineh, announced that the Palestinian Authority was coordinating with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan in order to create "facts on the ground" to establish a Palestinian state.

This announcement was designed to tighten the international screws on Israel. The threat to "create facts on the ground" was a direct message to the US and the EU that they had better push Israel farther -- and faster -- or the Palestinians would be left with no recourse but to build in Area C of the West Bank, currently under exclusive Israeli control.

Yet Palestinian building in Area C is not just a threat. In fact, and thanks to the financial and logistical aid of the EU, Palestinians have already begun building that project in some parts of the West Bank.

What the PA wants is the following response from the international community: "Oh my God, we must do something to salvage the peace process. We need to put even more pressure on these Israelis before matters get out of hand."

The PA seeks a solution imposed upon Israel by the international community. This has been quite clear for some time, but the PA spokesman's recent announcement leaves no room for doubt. Abbas has no incentive whatsoever to return to the negotiating table with Israel. Why negotiate when Western powers are prepared to do everything to see Israel brought to its knees?

As part of this strategy, Abbas last week renewed his call for an international conference to discuss "ways of solving the Palestinian cause." According to the PA president, the international community that has reached understandings that Syria, Libya and Iran should be able to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

This is nothing but an Abbas scare-tactics redux. Radical Islam and terrorism, so we are to believe, will be conquered by solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The president of the PA desires to implant in the minds of the West a direct link between the Islamic State terror group (ISIS) and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

But Abbas might have done well to check in with his sources. ISIS and the other terror groups currently destroying the Arab world do not give a damn about Israeli settlements or checkpoints. Nor is a two-state solution on their docket. These groups have a different agenda -- to conquer the world and establish an Islamic empire. En route to achieving their aim, the Muslim terrorists will kill "apostates" and "infidels" including Abbas and other Arab leaders.

"President Abbas's call for an international conference reflects the state of confusion and wallowing he is in," remarked former Palestinian cabinet minister Hassan Asfour. "The appeal is designed to search for an unclear and jellied formula and it has no legitimacy." Asfour noted that there was no need for such a conference, in light of the fact that the UN already recognized a Palestinian state in 2012.

So what exactly is Abbas trying to achieve? For the most part, Palestinian political analysts are convinced that the eighty-year-old president, who is about to enter the eleventh year of his four-year term in office, is simply seeking to hold onto the reins of power. The best way to do so, they argue, is by keeping up the buzz about international conferences and potential Palestinian unilateral moves on the ground.

In order to run the Palestinian show until his last day, Abbas needs to divert attention from the battle of succession that has hit the spotlight in the past few days. Top Fatah officials have been pushing him to appoint a deputy president, in the hope of forestalling a power vacuum upon his departure from the scene for one reason or another.

These officials have long censured Abbas for running the PA as if it were his private fiefdom. Among the critics are Jibril Rajoub, Tawkif Tirawi, Mohamed Dahlan, Salam Fayyad and Yasser Abed Rabbo -- all of whom regard themselves as potential successors to his seat.
