Obama official says Fort Hood jihad was "an act of terrorism"!
What? "Terrorism," you say? I thought the "war on terror" was over! Wasn't this a "man-caused disaster"? I thought it was vicarious Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder! Anyway, that Tim McVeigh is incorrigible! He must be stopped!

"Fort Hood shooting was terrorism, U.S. says," by Phil Stewart for Reuters, January 15 (thanks to Weasel Zippers):
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The shooting rampage at a U.S. Army base in November was "an act of terrorism," an Obama administration official said on Friday, as the Pentagon ordered an overhaul of protocols to spot threats within the military. Reviews ordered on Friday by the Pentagon and White House exposed shortcomings in both intelligence and oversight before the November 5 shooting, which authorities blame on a military psychiatrist.

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said his department was still "burdened by 20th century processes and attitudes mostly rooted in the Cold War," and needed to do more to combat self-radicalization.

"Our counterintelligence procedures are mostly designed to combat an external threat such as a foreign intelligence service," Gates told reporters at the Pentagon, adding there was not enough focus "on internal threats."...
Watch for the new emphasis on "internal threats" to focus not on Islamic jihadists, at least after the Hasan heat is off, but on "right-wing extremists."

Angry Obama toughens visa regulations -- and they're still toothless

Obama toughens visa regulations -- and they're still toothless

In "The Toothless Visas Viper" in The American Thinker today, Pamela Geller explains what the tough new visa regulations don't do:

[...] In the wake of the Christmas Day bomber's attempted attack, the U.S. Visas Viper terrorist reporting program criteria have been broadened.

The Visas Viper program is used by the Department of State and other national agencies to place on "watch lists" known or suspected international terrorists in both unclassified and classified government lookout systems such as CLASS (Consular Lookout and Support Systems).

So it's a good thing that Obama is broadening the criteria for reporting terrorists in this program, isn't it? Actually, no. Make no mistake: It is not going to help in any way whatsoever. Obama's "tough" new criteria don't let us filter out potential terrorists using minimal profiling criteria.

The vast number of bureaucracies involved already render the "watch list" process a tangled inter-agency web. And it is simply ridiculous how Visas Viper, the main system that we use to try to prevent terrorists from obtaining visas, uses such vague and toothless criteria -- even after Obama's "reform."

How vague? How toothless? Under the present system, people who express anti-American sentiments can fly. People who contribute money to identified terror organizations can fly, no problem. People who associate with known terrorists, but have done nothing further to support terrorism, can also fly. Even people who claim to be members of a terrorist organization but have done nothing to further support terrorism can fly.

This is insane. Isn't membership in a terror organization support of terror?...

AL-QAEDA official’s strategy on how to defeat al-Qaeda

A high-ranking al-Qaeda official, Abu Yahya al-Libi (reportedly a likely successor to Osama bin Laden), taunts the U.S. by offering six strategies the US military could use to defeat the terror network.

How much more emboldened does the enemy have to become before Obama realizes that the whole world is making a mockery of him?

Arrow Saudi Criticism of President Obama's Afghanistan Policy

http://www.memri.org/report/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/3918.htm

January 20, 2010
Special Dispatch No.2759

Saudi Criticism of President Obama's Afghanistan Policy

President Barack Obama's new policy in Afghanistan, based on reinforcing the troops there while setting a July 2011 target date for their withdrawal, was met with criticism in the Saudi press. The main criticism was that President Obama is focusing on the military angle while ignoring the political aspects of the conflict in Afghanistan. Some of the writers also expressed disappointment that the U.S. failed to consult with Saudi Arabia in formulating its policy.

Following are excerpts from articles on this issue:

Al-Watan: Obama Wants to Have His Cake and Eat It, Too
The Al-Watan daily argued in an editorial that military might is not enough to succeed in Afghanistan, and expressed disappointment that President Obama did not heed the advice of Saudi experts: "President Obama is different from his predecessor, George Bush, in that he relies on information in taking decisions, while Bush used to boast that he relied on assumptions in reaching sensitive decisions. But [even] decisions based on knowledge are not necessarily successful if the one who takes them does not consult those with experience. This can be said of Obama's [decision] to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, and to begin the withdrawal in July 2011.

"This decision... followed three months of studying the situation in Afghanistan, which led Obama to the conclusion that he should rely on America's military might in eliminating the threat of the Taliban and in pressuring Karzai's government to implement the required reforms within months, not years.

"[This policy] of military escalation [coupled with talk of] withdrawal reflects the division that has formed within the American administration over the past three months. This political decision, which reflects Obama's desire to have his cake and eat it, does not seem very convincing in terms of the results it can be expected to deliver. The American troops have been in Afghanistan for years, and have not been able to obtain the required decisive [victory]...

"Let me refer [the reader] to an article in The Washington Post by [former Saudi ambassador to the U.S.] Prince Turki Al-Faisal, in which he gave Obama some advice on eliminating extremism.[1] One of his recommendations was to stop fighting the Taliban as a terror organization, and to concentrate [instead] on fighting Al-Qaeda, thereby paving the way to a constructive dialogue with the Taliban. Prince Al-Faisal also recommended resolving the problem of Kashmir, so that it cannot be used by the extremist organizations as an excuse for their activity. [In addition, the Prince] explained that helping the Afghan farmers to replace opium with some other crop would starve the extremist organizations of one of their chief sources of income. In sum, the Prince's position was that the solution to Afghanistan's problems did not lie in a military victory, but in [resolving] some of the key issues in the region.

"If America does not want to experience another Vietnam in Afghanistan, the White House must take a more intelligent [approach] in dealing with [this country]. Perhaps the smartest thing [it can do] is listen to the advice of those who have the greatest experience [in dealing with] the situation on the ground, instead of succumbing to complex intrigues of people in Washington, whose main interest does not seem to be resolving the Afghan problem."[2]

Al-Sharq Al-Awsat Editor: Obama Is Repeating Bush's Mistakes
Al-Sharq Al-Awsat editor Tariq Alhomayed wrote that Obama is repeating George W. Bush's mistakes in Iraq: "Obama is repeating the mistakes of George W. Bush, who believed that as soon as he toppled Saddam Hussein's regime, Iraq would be able to stand on its own feet as a democracy, and that he would [thereby] change the entire region... But the situation in Afghanistan is even worse [than in Iraq]. Obama is dealing with a state that has been failing for decades. It lacks even the features of a state, let alone a democracy. This is where Obama's predicament lies. Afghanistan does not need more troops, a timetable for withdrawal, and [a plan for] cooperating with Karzai, who won an election whose honesty was doubtful to begin with… What Afghanistan needs is a strong army and [new] institutions that must be built over five years at least. Then it needs to begin functioning as a 'democracy in a trial period'...

"Some say that it is too late [to fix the problems] in Iraq, but Obama can still avoid making the same mistakes in Afghanistan. There is no guarantee that the neighboring states, which publically welcomed his plan, will not work behind the scenes to make Washington's job difficult, especially when the latter has set itself a three-year [sic] deadline for withdrawal. The rules of the game in Afghanistan have changed, and the most important thing now is not fighting but patience."[3]

Al-Watan Article and Cartoon Lampoon Obama's Troop Escalation Decision in Afghanistan, Following His Acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize
The daily Al-Watan alluded to Obama's Afghanistan policy in the context of his Nobel Peace Prize. In a front-page piece titled "Obama Gets a Nobel [Peace] Prize while Banging the War Drums," the daily stated that Obama's winning the prize was at complete odds with his decision on a troop surge in Afghanistan.[4] The daily also published a cartoon with a similar message:[5]

The cartoon below was published a few days later:[6]

Exclamation The Lies of Obama

The Lies of Obama
An extraordinary record of serial mendacity
by John Ellis

When politicians are caught out in lies, their supporters often resort to the old cliché: all politicians lie. But that is itself a lie: most don’t. Even among those who do, there are enormous differences in the importance and frequency of the lies. And it is surely now clear that this nation has a far from routine problem in the scale and regularity of President Obama’s lying.

When politicians lie they are usually trying to avoid political damage, or to make themselves look good. Bill Clinton lied (and got himself impeached) to save himself from embarrassment about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. Hillary Clinton lied about being under fire in Bosnia to enhance her non-existent foreign affairs profile. Richard Nixon was forced from office because he lied to cover up his involvement in a political dirty trick. John Kerry lied about his Vietnam combat experience to blunt his anti-military reputation. But Barack Obama’s lies are far more corrosive and destructive, because they go the heart of legislation and governance, and so seriously undermine trust in government. His lies generally take a specific form: they attempt to persuade people to vote for him or his policies by categorically assuring them that they need not have the anxieties that they have been expressing. The lies say, essentially: trust me, support what I want, and I promise that what you fear will never happen. But in every case it soon becomes clear either that he knew perfectly well that what the public feared would in fact happen, or that he was giving a firm assurance that he was in no position to give, or that he had no intention of following through on his promise.

The accumulated weight of Obama’s deceit is overwhelming:

* During his campaign for the presidency and since, Obama repeatedly assured us that he would protect Medicare against cuts; but he now presses for passage of bills that include savage cuts in Medicare.

* To obtain passage of his first stimulus bill, Obama assured us that 90% of the jobs created would be in the private sector; but as he well knew, most of them were to be in the public sector.

* Early in the health care debate, Obama assured us that he had not said that he favored a single payer system; but he was on record as having said exactly that.

* Obama gave primary voters a firm assurance that if he became the nominee of the Democratic party he would (unlike Hillary Clinton) abide by the campaign finance limits of public funding; but as soon as he became the party’s nominee, he reneged on that pledge.

* During the presidential campaign Obama criticized the presence of former lobbyists in the Bush administration and solemnly assured us that he would appoint no lobbyists to his administration; but once elected he proceeded to appoint even more lobbyists than his predecessors.

* Obama criticized the size of George Bush’s deficit and promised to stop deficit spending if elected; but he has already quadrupled the size of the deficit he objected to and recklessly continues new federal spending in the trillions.

* When campaigning Obama criticized bills before the congress that were too long for anyone to be able to read and promised to stop that; but the bills he has been backing throughout his first year are infinitely longer (2000+ pages) than the ones he criticized.

* Candidate Obama promised an end to the corruption of earmarks and pork, but in the bills he has supported this year there have been more and bigger earmarks than ever before.

* Candidate Obama promised us that CIA personnel involved in the interrogation of terrorists would not be prosecuted; but his administration is now doing exactly that.

* Obama assured a joint session of Congress that the health bill he supported (pre-Stupak) would not provide public funding for abortions; but bitter resistance on the part of House Democrats to inclusion of language to that effect soon proved that it did.

* Candidate Obama promised that he would make sure that there was always enough time for the public to read legislation before it was enacted; but he has done exactly the opposite, repeatedly pressing for even faster passage of even longer bills.

* Candidate Obama met fears that he would be a tax and spend liberal by promising, emphatically and repeatedly, that those earning under $200,000 would see no increase in their taxes of any kind; but he now urges passage of a healthcare bill that breaks that pledge in many different ways, and his unrestrained increase in federal spending makes more tax increases inevitable.

* Candidate Obama promised bipartisanship and an end to partisan bickering; but in a display of especially ruthless partisanship his allies have shut Republicans out of all key meetings on his health care initiative, with the unprecedented result that domestic legislation of historic importance garnered not a single Republican vote in the Senate.

* Candidate Obama criticized his opponent’s plan to tax employer paid healthcare benefits, and promised he would not tax them; but the bill he now backs will do just that.

* Obama had promised that he would not sign a healthcare bill that would add one dime to the federal deficit; but the bill he now backs adds trillions in new federal spending, offset only by new sources of revenue that are both uncertain and more properly seen as offsetting the already existing deficit.

* Obama coerced congress into passing his stimulus bill by promising that if it were passed unemployment could go no higher then 8%; but unemployment is now at 10%, and he could not possibly have had good reason to exclude that possibility.

* Obama promised that his cap and trade legislation will create jobs; but its massive tax increases will certainly hobble the economy and destroy jobs, while green jobs in significant numbers can at best be hoped for, but never promised.

* Obama has repeatedly assured the American people that if they like their current health plan they can keep it; but the House bill which he supported created huge incentives for employers to drop their coverage and shift their members to a public option.

* Obama has just as often assured the public that under his health plan everyone will be able to keep their current doctor; but many are certain to lose their doctors when ObamaCare’s large cuts in Medicare funding induce more doctors to withdraw from Medicare coverage, as they also would were employers to transfer patients to a public option to save money.

* Obama assured a joint session of Congress that his health plan would not fund illegal aliens; but his allies had been busy voting down amendments to that effect. (This was the point of Joe Wilson’s outburst.)

* Obama claimed that John Deere’s CEO had told him that Deere would begin hiring again as a result of the stimulus bill; but that individual immediately announced that he had said no such thing, and that Deere would in fact be laying off more workers.

* Candidate Obama promised that Guantanamo would be closed by January 1, 2010; but it is still open.

* Candidate Obama promised that his administration (unlike his predecessor’s) would be so transparent that TV cameras (C-Span) would be there for key deliberations; but an unprecedented level of secrecy prevails as the final stages of Obamacare are negotiated behind closed doors and kept so secret that even the Senate majority whip admitted that he had no idea what was going on. Requests for Obama to honor the promise of C-Span cameras are being ignored.

* To gain traction for his attempt to return a would-be socialist dictator in Honduras to power, Obama claimed that he had been overthrown in an illegal coup; but the congressional research service pointed out correctly that ex-President Zelaya had been removed for constitutionally sufficient cause by legal and constitutional means.

* Obama claims that he wants a public option only to increase choice and competition; but the House bill would clearly reduce choice both by squeezing unsubsidized private health plans out of the market, and by setting rigid conditions on acceptable plans that would narrow available options.

* Candidate Obama claimed that violent radical Bill Ayers was just another guy in his neighborhood; but the record shows that the two had worked closely together.

* Obama assured us that his stimulus bill would create or save a million jobs; but he was claiming as fact what could never have been more than a wild (and highly improbable) guess, and his more recent attempts to justify that guess have been fraudulent.

* Obama assured us that his health plan would never ration care, or “pull the plug” on grandma; but the legislation he backs sets up panels to make crucial decisions on when to withhold care, and it makes such deep cuts in Medicare that rationing is inevitable.

* Obama now assures us that health insurance premiums will not go up if ObamaCare becomes law, insisting indignantly that people who say this have not read the bill; but the legislation forces insurers to cover preexisting conditions, which will compel them to raise premiums substantially.

This is an extraordinary record of serial mendacity. One or two instances might charitably be regarded as rash promises later regretted, or as the wishful thinking of someone who had not thought through the implications of what he was saying. But when it happens again and again—and my 30 instances are by no means exhaustive—only one judgment seems possible: this is the record of a habitual, shameless liar, a man who will say anything to get what he wants. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, goes the old saying. But scores of times? How shameful is that for our society when this disgraceful record is never the subject of a reproachful editorial in the New York Times, the Washington Post, or CBS news? Richard Nixon was removed from office, and Bill Clinton impeached for a single lie. Who could look at Obama’s record without concluding that his lying is in a completely different league to theirs?

President Obama evidently believes that he can solve any problem with a speech. But he really does not care whether what he says is true or not, nor does he feel any responsibility to honor the assurances and promises he makes. As a result, this nation is now in a position where it cannot believe a word that he says, and that amounts to an unprecedented crisis of confidence in the Presidency. Democratic government will atrophy if we allow lying on this scale to count as the business as usual of politics. When will the press and the Congress hold him accountable?

Arrow Massachusetts to Obama: ‘No, You Can’t!’

Massachusetts to Obama: ‘No, You Can’t!’
Brown's astonishing win gives America a new lease on life
by Larry Elder

“Let me be as clear as I can. There is no way in hell we’re going to elect a Republican to Ted Kennedy’s seat. Period.”

So said the man who finished second in the Democratic Massachusetts primary held to fill the seat occupied for 47 years by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy. State Attorney General Martha Coakley won the primary. Republican state Sen. Scott Brown once trailed her by 30 points in the polls.

On Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, Brown defeated Coakley by 5 points. This astonishing Republican win in Massachusetts is a flat-out repudiation of President Barack Obama.

This is now strike five. In 2008, Obama carried New Jersey and Virginia. Last year, he unsuccessfully stumped in both states for Democrats in gubernatorial races. Democrats previously held those seats. He twice flew to Copenhagen, once to lobby for the Chicago Olympics and later to get a meaningful international deal on “climate change.” Both times, he came home empty-handed. Now comes Massachusetts. Try to explain that one away.

Massachusetts had not elected a Republican senator since 1972. Its 10-seat House delegation is wall-to-wall Democrats. Obama, in 2008, carried the state by 26 points. Registered Democrats in Massachusetts outnumber registered Republicans by more than 3 to 1.

What happened? One, Obama. Two, the Democratic filibuster-proof Senate supermajority. Three, a party led by like-minded lefties.

But ObamaCare is ground zero. Brown campaigned against it and promised he’d try to stop it. The unpopular legislation would mandate that everyone carry health insurance. It would force insurance companies to accept those with pre-existing illnesses. It would tax — or, if you prefer, fine — employers for not providing health insurance and individuals for not having it. It would exempt union members from a tax on their employer-provided plans but force nonunion members with similar plans to pay it. Nebraska would get its new Medicaid costs exempted in perpetuity. Louisiana would receive $300 million in goodies.

ObamaCare, according to Obama, promises both deficit neutrality and eventual cost savings. Right. And the legislation ignores the fact that most Americans have and like their current health insurance.

The Democrats misread the country’s mood. They misunderstood why they won in ‘08. They thought that Obama’s election and their gains in Congress meant not just receptiveness, but an eagerness to embrace a New Enlightenment. They believed that people really want to tax “the rich,” to redistribute wealth, to punish success.

So Obama set sail to grow government — to use tax dollars to create “green jobs,” to tackle “climate change” with onerous regulations on businesses.

He showed the world his un-Bushness by apologizing for America’s alleged past arrogance and by employing a kinder, gentler approach to what we once called the War on Terror.

He called the passage of the partisan “stimulus” bill necessary to prevent unemployment from reaching 8 percent. It is now 10 percent. The bill promised to “create or save” millions of jobs. Instead, it created embarrassing headlines about money going to nonexistent ZIP codes and about spending hundreds of thousands of dollars per “created or saved” job. Brown called for tax cuts and criticized Obama’s stimulus plan.

The Obamacrats bailed out insurance companies, car companies and banks. Bank bailout recipients rang up huge profits, repaid the government ahead of schedule and then dealt themselves big bonuses. People looked at all the Wall Streeters in and/or advising the administration and wondered, “Why did they need our money in the first place?”

The Boston Massacre dooms ObamaCare — at the very least its current incarnation. It pulls the country back from the brink of this costly, irreversible leap into collectivism. Oh, sure, Democrats have procedural maneuvers to pull it off. But after this wake-up call, let them try. Gone are “cap and trade” and a second spendthrift ‘’stimulus package,” as well as an attempt at “immigration reform” — even as our borders remain scarily porous. With Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and interest on the federal debt on automatic pilot, ObamaCare was a pillow pressed over the face of the country.

Former Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean, representing the left-left wing of the left-wing party, says Massachusetts means that Democrats should turn further left. Does he know that only 26 percent of Massachusetts voters think RomneyCare, their own version of ObamaCare, is effective?

Dean thinks Democrats wussed out on providing a health insurance “public option” and calls the bill a sop to greedy “special interests.” Dean is obtuse. Other Democrats will trade ideology for self-preservation. They will reflect and redirect or suffer the consequences.

As for the late Sen. Kennedy, his death opened a seat that guarantees the defeat of ObamaCare 1.0. Kennedy’s death, therefore, stopped this wide-ranging health care “reform.”

And America now has a new lease on life.

Arrow Comrades’ Way

Comrades’ Way
President Obama's policies are bearing the same fruit as those of his socialist counterparts
by Vasko Kohlmayer

http://frontpagemag.com/2010/01/20/comrades-way/

“Unemployment holds at 10 percent,” read assorted headlines in response to December’s employment data provided by the Department of Labor.

The headlines represent a brave effort by the administration’s supporters to put a good spin on the bad news. Although not great, things are at least not getting worse is the implication. But things are getting worse. Last month the economy actually shed 85,000 jobs. The reason why the loss did not push up the jobless rate was because over the same period 600,000 discouraged people gave up looking for work. Because of this, they are no longer classified as unemployed. Had those workers been taken into the account, the December unemployment rate would have been 10.4 percent, the highest in almost thirty years.

When all those who have given up looking for employment are included, we get an overall unemployment level of 17.3 percent. This is the number that really matters, because it is a true gauge of the job market. It is also the measure that is given when people talk about the unemployment numbers during the Great Depression. Significantly, today’s picture is beginning to increasingly resemble that of the 1930s. And as luck would have it, all this is happening under the auspices of the man who rode into the Oval Office on promises of swift fixes.

As an aside, when unemployment was barely 5 percent in 2007 the media kept talking about the worst economy in our lifetimes. Today the grossly understated unemployment rate of 10 percent is a sign that things are “steady” and “stable.” Can you imagine what would have happened if the rate had shot up to 10 percent under George W. Bush? The refrain would have been “impeach and crucify.”

It would not, however, be fair to take President Obama’s promise of quick remedies too literally. It was made in the heat of a campaign when politicians must say all kinds of things to stand a chance. The president was actually correct when he later observed that the problems from which we suffer were long in the making and cannot be fixed overnight. Our problems are for the most part rooted in the many years of liberal/leftists policies, which, sadly, have been practiced by both parties. They also happen to be the same policies that President Obama has relentlessly pursued since the first day of his presidency. They include include government expansion, reckless borrowing, unsustainably low interest rates, heavy regulation and federal intrusion into every part of our lives.

This being said, the American economy has always possessed an inner resilience that time and again made it possible to shake off blows inflicted by the political class. The one exception was the presidency of Franklin Roosevelt – a driven and charismatic centralizer – whose policies kept the economy in the grip of a depression for over a decade. Given Obama’s FDR-like faith in the efficacy of government intervention, we may not only have a reprisal, but things may actually get worse than they did in the 1930s.

There are several reasons for that. When FDR assumed office the American economy was fundamentally stronger. The United States was an industrial giant producing and exporting goods. The private sector was largely free and the federal government was incomparably smaller than it is now. There was no federal debt to speak of and we had a sound gold-based currency. Today things are much different. We have a consumption-based economy. Around 70 percent of all economic activity in the United States is made up of consumer spending. Most of what we consume is imported from abroad and much of it is bought on credit. Bloated and octopus-like, the federal government stands poised to squeeze every last life-drop from the battered private sector. It controls, regulates and taxes as never before. Not content with the trillions it has extracted from the productive sector, it has assumed gargantuan debts it cannot pay.

Government propaganda notwithstanding, this nation can only be saved through revival of the private sector, since the private sector is the only institution that can create real jobs and real wealth. Government is the last place we should look to for provision, because in the final analysis government can only smoother, pilfer and waste. This is a truth we seem to have forgotten as a nation. It is now costing us dearly as we have a president who is using the power of the state to strangle America’s private enterprise. So vigorous his efforts have been that they even impressed the die-hard socialist Hugo Chavez. When commenting on Obama’s nationalization of General Motors, Chavez referred to our president as “comrade.”

But praise and approval from Chavez do not necessarily certify one’s competence given that Chavez is driving his own country into ruin. Although rich in oil, Venezuela is plagued with poverty and shortages of all kinds. It even has to ration energy and recently the government devalued the currency because of fiscal mismanagement.

Disturbing as it may sound, what we are seeing in Venezuela today may well be a preview of what’s in store for America. We are, in fact, already getting a partial taste of it. To begin with, we have an overbearing government that wants to run and control (Chavez-like) every aspect of our society. Our real unemployment is higher than that of Venezuela. Certain parts of this country have experienced blackouts. And the utter fiscal irresponsibility of on the part of our leaders has resulted in a dramatic drop in the value of our currency.

Looking at all this, one gets the feeling that our system is on the edge of a precipice and that only a mild push would suffice to send it tumbling down. Unfortunately, we have people in Washington whose misguided policies may well deliver that push. Such an event would be bad news for Americans, but it would certainly please Chavez who has repeatedly prophesied America’s collapse because its capitalism. Should there indeed be a collapse the Venezuelan will have been only half right. Genuine capitalism has never brought down any country, because capitalism engenders wealth, stability and prosperity. What bring societies down is those who nationalize, regulate and overspend. And they like to call themselves “comrades.”

Arrow Dhimmi HILLARY CLINTON defies Homeland Security and LIFTS BAN on two MUSLIM TERRORIST

http://barenakedislam.wordpress.com/...st-supporters/

And Terrorist Front Group CAIR is ecstatic about the decision
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today welcomed a decision by the U.S. Department of State to lift a ban that prevented two prominent Muslim scholars accused of having ties to terrorism, from entering the United States for the past five years.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has signed orders enabling the re-entry of Hamas supporter and grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, TariqRamadan, of Oxford University in England and Adam Habib of the University of Johannesburg in South Africa once they obtain required admittance documents.

Ramadan told Reuters he remained barred from several Arab countries including Egypt and Saudi Arabia and he had little hope these bans would be lifted any time soon. Ramadan said he was unpopular with some Arab governments because he had criticized them for what he described as failing to support the Palestinian people and seeking to place the responsibility for the Palestinians’ situation on the West.

An order signed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reverses a July 2004 decision by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to revoke the visa of Ramadan, a respected scholar and author who was due to begin teaching at the University of Notre Dame that fall. Although the DHS cited security concerns as its reason for the visa revocation, CAIR and other civil liberties organizations saw it as a form of censorship that fit a pattern of denying visas to foreign nationals whose political views were not in favor with the U.S. government.

HABIB

“We welcome this move by the Obama administration to permit a respected scholar and voice for religious moderation to enter our country,” said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. “This is a step toward beginning to repair the damage to our image among Muslims worldwide.”

“As we look at it, we do not think that either one of them represents a threat to the United States,” Crowley told a news briefing, adding that the U.S. government hoped to encourage more interaction with the Muslim world.
“For several years, the United States government was more interested in stigmatizing and silencing its foreign critics than in engaging them. The decision … is a welcome sign the Obama administration is committed to facilitating rather than obstructing the exchange of ideas across international borders.” (Facilitating Terrorism, don’t you mean?)

The United States has revoked Ramadan’s visa several times since 2004. Washington initially gave no reason for its decision, but later said Ramadan had been barred based on a provision of the USA Patriot Act that allows people to be excluded for supporting terrorism. REUTERS

MORE GOOD NEWS!
Obama’s ’soft on terrorism’ TSA nominee withdraws

Erroll Southers, President Obama’s pick to head the Transportation Security Administration, withdrew today, claiming his nomination had become a lightning rod for those with a political agenda. The decision was a blow for a White House already under fire by critics for its handling of the attempted Christmas bombing of an American airline.

Southers’ nomination had been held up by Republican Sen. Jim DeMint who expressed concern Southers would attempt to unionize TSA security agents.

In an e-mail to friends and colleagues, Southers stated, “It is unfortunate that we are residing in such contentious political times, that exceptional, ‘apolitical’ candidates have to seriously consider their willingness to participate in public service.” (HAH!)

In Senate hearings, Southers had avoided giving a “yes” or “no” answer over whether he would unionize airport security workers. Unions across the U.S., however, have been lobbying hard for Southers’ confirmation.

Critics charge unionizing airport security would impose rules on union workers that could impede national security efforts in combating terrorist threats. WND

Obama forces Israel to freeze settlement building and puts Palestinians out of work

First of all this is NOT “occupied Palestinian land.” It is LEGAL Israeli land won by Israel in the ‘67 war started by Arabs. But now, thanks to Obama, Palestinians who had good jobs building Israeli homes there now are unemployed.

Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, is refusing to continue talks until there is a complete freeze in their construction. However, some Palestinian workers have no other way to make ends meet othert than to work for Israeli construction companies building the settlements.

The arabs dont love Obama, they are just happy he is weak, and talks with sugar bubbles out of his mouth, unlike Bush who was tough and sent the message to terrorists, that they will have to run like rats as long as he was in power!

Interpol should have limits on what they can do in the US. Obama is such a fool, allowing more and more the world to control what happens in the US. Well "who can blame him", when we know if it was up to the world Obama would be guaranteed a lifetime as US Presidents, as polls in other countries show. The world "enjoys" an Obama more than Americans do.

Arrow Obama Administration conducted threat assessment on pro-lifers while Fort Hood jihadi

Obama Administration conducted threat assessment on pro-lifers while Fort Hood jihadist kept rising in the ranks

DHS has only so much in the way of resources. The same thing goes for the whole military and intelligence establishment. And while authorities couldn't be bothered doing anything about Nidal Hasan, the mass-murdering Fort Hood jihadist, or other jihadis in the ranks, for two years after being apprised of their presence, they had time to develop a "threat assessment" on people who constituted no terror threat at all. (And before you start flooding the comments field and my email box with messages about the murders of abortion doctors, note that eight people have been killed in such violence since 1993, while there have been nearly 15,000 Islamic jihad attacks since 9/11.)

"Obama Administration Admits It Wrongly Tracked Abortion Groups in Wisconsin," by Steven Ertelt for LifeNews.com, February 8 (thanks to Pamela):
Madison, WI (LifeNews.com) -- The Department of Homeland Security admitted today that it improperly conducted a threat assessment on pro-life and pro-abortion groups in Wisconsin. The assessment came before an expected rally last year in response to the University of Wisconsin Hospital board decided to allow abortions. [...]

"This move by DHS illustrates the Obama administration's goal of silencing pro-lifers. It is disturbing that a local police department has apparently tapped into the security apparatus of the federal government to potentially obstruct free speech," Hamill concluded.

"Last year, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano unjustly included pro-lifers in a report on domestic terrorism, and here we see her words in action," she said.
For more on the Obama Administration's entirely wrongheaded approach to jihad terror and much more, watch for my forthcoming book with Pamela Geller, The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War On America. Coming this July from Threshold Editions/Simon & Schuster.

Arrow Obama's Counterterror Czar to critics: Shut up.

Obama's Counterterror Czar to critics: Shut up. Opposing our policies is helping al-Qaeda.

Brennan is responding to criticism of the mirandizing of Abdulmutallab, which dammed up what was looking to be a useful source of information. They're doing a good job, he insists, and critics are just playing into the hands of the jihadists. But the increase in jihad activity in the U.S. belies his words.

"Opposing view: 'We need no lectures,'" by John Brennan, the Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, in USA Today, February 9:
Politics should never get in the way of national security. But too many in Washington are now misrepresenting the facts to score political points, instead of coming together to keep us safe.

Immediately after the failed Christmas Day attack, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was thoroughly interrogated and provided important information. Senior counterterrorism officials from the White House, the intelligence community and the military were all actively discussing this case before he was Mirandized and supported the decision to charge him in criminal court.

The most important breakthrough occurred after Abdulmutallab was read his rights, a long-standing FBI policy that was reaffirmed under Michael Mukasey, President Bush's attorney general. The critics who want the FBI to ignore this long-established practice also ignore the lessons we have learned in waging this war: Terrorists such as Jose Padilla and Saleh al-Mari did not cooperate when transferred to military custody, which can harden one's determination to resist cooperation.

It's naive to think that transferring Abdulmutallab to military custody would have caused an outpouring of information. There is little difference between military and civilian custody, other than an interrogator with a uniform. The suspect gets access to a lawyer, and interrogation rules are nearly identical. [...]

This administration's efforts have disrupted dozens of terrorist plots against the homeland and been responsible for killing and capturing hundreds of hard-core terrorists, including senior leaders in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and beyond -- far more than in 2008. We need no lectures about the fact that this nation is at war.

Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda. Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill. They will, however, be dismantled and destroyed, by our military, our intelligence services and our law enforcement community. And the notion that America's counterterrorism professionals and America's system of justice are unable to handle these murderous miscreants is absurd.
Sure. They can't name them, they can't call them what they are, they don't dare to discuss what they believe, they won't try to learn anything about what their motives or goals might be, but they can handle them. Sure. Trust Brennan. After all, his record is so sterling.

Arrow Barack Obama’s Rules for Revolution

Barack Obama’s Rules for Revolution
The Alinsky Model By David Horowitz

When you take a hard look at what Barack Obama already has done and plans to do, you quickly realize he is not Jimmy Carter. He is not even Bill Clinton. That’s because Barack Obama, working in concert with the ultra-liberal socialists that run the Democrat party, is radically transforming America.

Right now, the Freedom Center is pulling out all stops to expose the radical agenda of Barack Obama and the socialist leadership in Congress is trying to force on the American people. That includes running our newspaper ad, “Ten Ways Barack Obama and the Socialist Congress are Radically Transforming America!”

Today I need your help! This campaign needs your support. And if you are able to join me in the project with a contribution of $25, $35 $50, $100 or even $1,000 today, I will send you – at no cost – my new booklet detailing the radical transformation Barack Obama and the socialists in Congress are implementing.

I have reserved a copy of my new booklet, Barack Obama’s Rules for Revolution, for you. Barack Obama’s Rules for Revolution provides even more shocking links between the President’s left-wing agenda and the radical, anti-American hate-filled writings of Saul Alinsky. It’s imperative that we get these booklets out to as many Americans as possible, however. And it’s absolutely critical that we raise enough money to run our powerful newspaper ad detailing Obama and Congressional Socialists work to derail our republic.

That is why I’m asking you use any of the links provided in this message to support the Freedom Center with a generous contribution to ensure we generate remaining $225,500 needed to fully fund this project. If your contribution is $25 or more I will rush you Barack Obama’s Rules for Revolution at no cost.

As more mainstream Americans see what is behind the Obama agenda, they realize how dangerous it is to our nation – an agenda driven by the writings of a man who hated America, Saul Alinsky. In the short time Obama has been in power, we’ve witnessed:
  • The virtual bankruptcy of our economy. The deficit is at $2 trillion and rising with the overwhelming majority of the money spent to grow the federal government.
  • More than 35 “Czars” controlling billions of dollars and making management decisions about everything from our auto industry to “green” jobs to urban development. These Czars answer to no one but Barack Obama!
  • A maniacal attempt to socialize our health care! Contrary to his stylish rhetoric, the Obama plan will put private insurers out of business and put bureaucrats in charge of our health care. Anyone who has stood in line at the Post Office or waited in a security line at an airport has had a glimpse of a future with government-controlled health care.
  • Raising our taxes. Obama’s first budget will consume 28% of the entire GDP! 28%! He plans to repeal the Bush tax cuts, raise income taxes, the capital gains tax and block the repeal of the estate tax (death tax) for the sake of “morality,” he said. But there is nothing moral about taking more and more of your family’s income to feed his socialist agenda.
We’ve identified six more points in our newspaper ad. Each action designed to undercut our independence and, just as you’ll learn from the booklet, adhere to Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, his “how to” book on destroying America.
You’ve been a vital player in many Freedom Center projects! Can you step up with us again today?

As I’ve said on the Glenn Beck show and places where I’ve spoken in recent months: This isn’t like four bad years of Jimmy Carter or even eight years of Bill Clinton. This is the systematic transformation of our nation from an open, capitalist society, to a Big Brother-type socialist nation. We must stop it. Now. Thank you so much for your time.

Default Obama Anti-Terror Strategy Avoids Mention of 'Islam'

Obama Anti-Terror Strategy Avoids Mention of 'Islam'
Two new documents laying out the Obama administration's defense and homeland security strategy over the next four years describe the nation's terrorist enemies in a number of ways but fail to mention the words Islam, Islamic or Islamist.

The 108-page Quadrennial Homeland Security Review, made public last week by the Department of Homeland Security, uses the term "terrorist" a total of 66 times, "al Qaeda" five times and "violent extremism" or "extremist" 14 times. It calls on the U.S. government to "actively engage communities across the United States" to "stop the spread of violent extremism."

Yet in describing terrorist threats against the United States and the ideology that motivates terrorists, the review - like its sister document from the Pentagon, the Quadrennial Defense Review - does not use the words "Islam," "Islamic" or "Islamist" a single time.

Although the homeland security official in charge of developing the review insists it was a not a deliberate decision, the document is likely to reignite a debate over terminology in the U.S.-led war against al Qaeda that has been simmering through two administrations.

"There was not an active choice" to avoid using terms derivative of Islam, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Policy David Heyman told reporters on a conference call. President Obama had "made it clear as we are looking at counterterrorism that our principal focus is al Qaeda and global violent extremism, and that is the terminology and language that has been articulated" by Mr. Obama and his advisers, Mr. Heyman added. He declined to use the I-word.

The sensitivity to terminology is not new. In April 2008, during the George W. Bush administration, an official guide produced by the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), the multiagency center charged with strategic coordination of the U.S. war on terrorism, urged officials not to use the words "Muslim" or "Islamic" in conjunction with the word "terrorism."

Such usage "reinforces the 'U.S. vs. Islam' framework that al-Qaeda promotes," read the NCTC's "Words That Work and Words That Don't: A Guide for Counterterrorism Communication."

Instead, the guide urges policymakers to use terms such as "violent extremists," "totalitarian," and "death cult" to characterize al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

The Obama administration has adopted "violent extremism" as its catchall phrase for terrorism.

It is advice that officials at the Defense Department also appear to have taken to heart. The 128-page Quadrennial Defense Review - which like the homeland-security review is a congressionally mandated effort to ensure budgeting and other planning efforts are properly aligned against threats to the nation - also eschews words associated with Islam, employing instead the constructions "radicalism," "extremism" or "violent extremism."
