Default Few army service related questions

Hi everyone, new user here, but long time stalker!
Few questions.
Is it true that the day of your 26th bday is the last day you can possibly get drafted into tsahal?
Also, do you know about the program which allows certain citizens to replace the service with some kind of community service (i lost the name i'm afraid, but it's in cases you can't serve i believe)?
Thanks a lot!
Dav

Google “sherut la’am” and “sherut leumi”. I believe the former is for non-Israeli's, and the latter is for Israelis.

I am talking for Israelis, so I have to guess it is Sherut Leumi, even though Sherut La'am might apply as well (if you can be an israeli citizen while having a BA from abroad).
Thanks a lot for the great info!
Any idea as to the age limit?

I believe that the answer to this is yes, at least it was once. My sister, who holds an Israeli passport, did Sherut La'am as a non-resident. That is, she left the US to be in Israel temporarily for that specific purpose. She was not an Olah (or specifically, a Katin Hozer).

Not sure about age.

24 is that age (birthday) for non-Israelis to get into MAHAL.

At age 26 an Israeli, be it an oleh or returning citizen, would be trainied for reserve duty, most likely as a rifleman.

Exceptions might include if the delay was due to receiving an advanced degree in something the army was interested in.
