Thumbs down Palestinians: Back into Bed with Hamas

Palestinians: Back into Bed with Hamas
by Khaled Abu Toameh

November 1, 2016
https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9...ns-abbas-hamas

If Abbas is unable to make peace inside his own Fatah faction, how will he ever be able to end the dispute with Hamas? And the more crucial question: How can Abbas ever be expected to make peace with Israel when he cannot even control his own Fatah loyalists? The Palestinian political situation, plagued with anarchy on all fronts, is deteriorating on a daily basis.

Israel and the rest of the world are currently facing two Palestinian camps: one (Hamas) that does not want to make peace with Israel because it believes Israel ought not to exist, and the second (Fatah) that cannot make peace with Israel because it is too weak to do so. The next US administration, whatever political persuasion it may be, would do well to mark this reality.

This has become predictable. Given two minutes of breath, Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas resorts to the old tactic of courting Hamas as a way of hiding from the disaffection of his own Fatah faction. The overtures towards Hamas are a smokescreen for what many Palestinians are beginning to perceive as the beginning of a revolt against Abbas.

Default The UN and Temple Denial

The UN and Temple Denial
UNESCO joins Palestinian extremists in a resolution denying Jewish connections to the Temple Mount.
By Steve Postal

http://www.americanthinker.com/artic...le_denial.html

On November 8, in a direct attack at the heart of Judaism and the Jewish People, the United Nations General Assembly passed two resolutions (http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Co...e-Mount-472040) that mentioned the “Haram al Sharif” but not its Jewish synonym “the Temple Mount” as one of the “holy places of Jerusalem.” This followed an October 26 resolution (http://www.timesofisrael.com/full-te...ied-palestine/) by the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which called Israel an “occupying power” of the Temple Mount and the Western Wall Plaza, and demanded that Israel stop building and excavating in the Old City of Jerusalem. These statements deny the Jewish connection to Jerusalem, and implicitly deny that the Jewish Temples ever stood on the Temple Mount, a canard known as “Temple Denial.”

According to a mix of Biblical history, recorded history and tradition, the Temple Mount was the location of the First Jewish Temple, built by King Solomon around 950 BCE and destroyed in the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem in 567 BCE, and the Second Jewish Temple, which stood from 516 BCE through the Roman siege of Jerusalem in 70 CE. Though Temple Denial reigns at the UN and within the Muslim world, statements by other Muslims and substantial archeological evidence show that the Jewish Temples did in fact exist.

Temple Denial within UNESCO

Muslim-majority countries exhibited Temple Denial by casting many of the ballots in favor of the UNESCO resolution. According to diplomatic sources (http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Co...olution-470883), seven out of the ten committee members that voted for the October 26 resolution are from Muslim-majority countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Turkey. Of the twenty-four ballots cast in an earlier vote on the same resolution, fourteen were cast by Muslim-majority countries: Algeria, Bangladesh, Chad, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Senegal, and Sudan.

Temple Denial within the Palestinian Authority

Temple Denial is common within the ranks of the Palestinian Authority as well. Calling the UNESCO vote a “victory for truth,” Mahmoud Al-Habbash (http://www.palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=489), the religious and Islamic affairs advisor to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, said that “Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, and the Al-Buraq Wall [the Western Wall] and the Al-Buraq plaza [the Western Wall plaza] are all purely Islamic and Palestinian assets and no one has the right to be our partner in that.” In recent months, Fatah has repeatedly referred to the First and Second Temples as “the alleged Temple.” In 2010, 2012 (http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=488...92&doc_id=6721), and 2015, Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein (http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Co...e-Mount-430131), the grand mufti of Jerusalem appointed to his post in 2006 by Abbas, claimed that there was never a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. Both Abbas and past Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat have similarly voiced Temple Denial (http://archive.adl.org/anti_semitism...le_denial.html).

Muslims Recognition of the Temple Mount’s Jewish Origin

But the Temple Denial of the Palestinian Authority and UNESCO’s Muslim-majority countries stand in stark contrast to their Muslim predecessors who understood the Jewish origins of the Temple Mount. Umar ibn al-Khattab, the Arab conqueror of Jerusalem, ordered the Patriarch Sophronius to show him “the sanctuary of David,” according to Simon Sebag Montefiore, in his book Jerusalem: The Biography. Umar is linked to the building of the Dome of the Rock and its association with the Jewish Temple, according to a recently studied early Arabic (Kufic) inscription (http://www.timesofisrael.com/centuri...m-into-mosque/) dated to the 9th or 10th centuries C.E. in a mosque near Hebron. The inscription states that “…this territory …and its entire area, is an endowment to the Rock of Bayt al-Maqdis [Dome of the Rock] and the al-Aqsa Mosque, as it was dedicated by the Commander of the Faithful, Umar ibn al-Khattab for the glory of Allah.” The Arabic “Bayt al-Maqdis” is an older Arabic term for Jerusalem which derives from the Hebrew “Beit Hamikdash,” meaning “the Holy Temple.” (http://www.timesofisrael.com/centuri...m-into-mosque/) (The modern Arabic term for Jerusalem, “al-Quds,” is in turn a derivative of Bayt al-Maqdis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_...usalem#Islamic).)

Additionally:
  • A commentary of an imam living from 1074-1144 (http://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-news...h-is-a-zionist) reads: "The Holy Temple was the dwelling place of the prophets and the residence of the believers.”
  • A guide to the Temple Mount, published in 1925 (http://www.templeinstitute.org/1925-...ount-guide.pdf) and 1929 (http://cojs.org/wp-content/uploads/A..._Al-Sharif.pdf) by the Supreme Moslem Council, says that the substructure of the al-Aqsa Mosque “dates probably as far back as the construction of Solomon’s Temple.”
  • The 1932 version (http://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-news...h-is-a-zionist) of the above-mentioned guide states: “This site is one of the oldest in the world… Its identity with the site of Solomon’s Temple is beyond dispute. This, too, is the spot, according to universal belief, on which David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.”
  • In 1951, Aref el-Aref, a historian and the mayor of Jordanian-occupied Jerusalem, said that (http://www.timesofisrael.com/centuri...m-into-mosque/) “the ruins of Solomon’s Temple are under al-Aqsa,” and that Umar (mentioned above) built a mosque on top of the ruins of the Temple.
  • In a July 2006 interview (http://www.wnd.com/2006/06/36605/), a former senior leader of the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, the religious authority that manages the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque, said that “Prophet Solomon built his famous Temple at the same place that later the Al Aqsa Mosque was built. It cannot be a coincidence that these different holy sites were built at the same place. The Jewish Temple Mount existed.” He was dismissed from his position after he had mentioned his beliefs on the Jewish connection to Temple Mount to his colleagues. He did not disclose his name in the interview because he believed that he would risk his life if he did otherwise.

The Waqf Discards Temple Mount Artifacts

Palestinian officials engaged in not only rhetorical, but also physical Temple Denial through grossly negligent excavation techniques of the Temple Mount. From 1996 to 1999, the Waqf removed via bulldozers and heavy machinery “roughly 400 truckloads” (http://www.timesofisrael.com/temple-...rths-conflict/) of dirt from the Temple Mount to build an underground mosque (http://www.jcpa.org/jl/vp483.htm) and a “massive vaulted entranceway.” (http://www.smithsonianmag.com/ist/?n...920764/?page=2) These truckloads of dirt were dumped in the Kidron Valley. In 2005, the Temple Mount Sifting Project was created to find if there were any artifacts linked to the Temple Mount that were discarded in this process.

Archeological Findings Substantiate Existence of Jewish Temples

Archeological findings provide incontrovertible evidence that both Jewish Temples existed.

First Temple. In 2015, archaeologists near the Temple Mount discovered a seal (http://www.theatlantic.com/internati...zekiah/418431/) belonging to King Hezekiah of the First Temple period, with the words “Belonging to Hezekiah [son of] Ahaz king of Judah.” In 2007, in a rare cooperation between Waqf and Israeli authorities, Muslim workers found artifacts (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...artifacts.html) which are believed to be from the First Temple, including “animal bones; ceramic bowl rims, bases, and [bowl] sherds; the base of a juglet used to pour oil; the handle of a small juglet; and the rim of a storage jar.”

In 2005, the Temple Mount Sifting Project discovered an incomplete clay seal (http://cojs.org/first_temple_bulla-_...h_century_bce/) with a partial Hebrew phrase that may spell out “Belonging to Ga’alyahu son of Immer,” with Immer being a priestly family dating to the First Temple period and referenced in the Bible.

Second Temple. Perhaps the largest and most obvious remnants of the Second Temple are the Western, Northern, Southern, and Eastern Walls (including the Eastern Wall Seam), Robinson’s Arch, and the Stairs of Ascent.

Other large physical evidence of the Second Temple exists. In September 2016, the Sifting Project discovered and restored (https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...-of-jerusalem/) part of the mosaic marble floor of the Second Temple. In 2009, archeologists discovered the Magdala Stone (http://www.nbcnews.com/id/32797473/n.../#.WBpBo2frv8U) while excavating the Migdal Synagogue near the Sea of Galilee. The Magdala Stone is believed to be a contemporaneous depiction of the Second Temple and contains the oldest carving of the Second Temple’s seven-branched menorah. In 2007, archeologists found a quarry (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...unearthed.html) believed to be used by King Herod to renovate the Second Temple. In 1968, archeologists also discovered the Trumpeting Place inscription (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trumpe...ce_inscription), a Second Temple parapet (http://www.museumsinisrael.gov.il/en...CMS_IMJ_191539) containing the Hebrew words “to the place of trumpeting,” and also connected to Josephus’ writings. In 1871 and 1935, full and partial Temple Warning Inscriptions were discovered (http://www.timesofisrael.com/ancient...to-the-temple/), respectively, prohibiting non-Jews from entering the inner court of the Second Temple.

Additionally, archeologists have discovered many coins providing evidence of the Second Temple. In 2008, the Temple Mount Sifting Project found a silver coin (http://www.haaretz.com/rare-first-ce...-dirt-1.259978) minted during the Great Revolt (66-67 CE), with the ancient Hebrew inscriptions “Holy Jerusalem” written on one side and “half shekel” and the Hebrew letter Aleph (http://www.jpost.com/Christian-In-Is...s-of-the-realm) (which is both the first letter and number in Hebrew, in this instance commemorating year one of the Revolt) written on the other side. This coin even contained fire damage that experts believe was from the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE. In fact, many bronze coins (http://www.jpost.com/Christian-In-Is...s-of-the-realm) found in the Temple Mount exhibited similar fire damage. The Sifting Project also uncovered a coin (http://www.smithsonianmag.com/histor...920764/?page=2) from the Great Revolt with the inscription “Freedom of Zion.”

There is considerable archeological evidence demonstrating the destruction of the Second Temple. The most famous is the Arch of Titus in Rome, which contains a relief of Roman soldiers carrying away the Second Temple’s seven-branched menorah, an event also recorded by Josephus in Antiquities and The Jewish War. In October 2016, archeologists found what they believe to be the “Third Wall (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...-battle.html)” chronicled by Josephus, where the Romans breached the Second Temple, along with remnants of a protective tower as well as “over 70 ballista and sling stones in front of the wall.” In 2006, the Sifting Project also found an iron arrowhead (http://www.echad.info/sifting/media/WTimes02-01-06.htm) used by the Romans during the siege of the Second Temple. Some of the most famous coins from the Second Temple period are the “Judea Capta (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judaea_Capta_coinage)” and “Judea Devicta (http://cojs.org/judea_capta_coins-_70_ce/)” coins (“Judea is Captured” and “Judea is Destroyed”), struck in 70 CE and for 26 years thereafter (http://www.jpost.com/Christian-In-Is...s-of-the-realm). These coins feature profiles of Emperor Vespasian (http://www.jpost.com/Christian-In-Is...s-of-the-realm), or his sons Titus (who led the army that sacked Jerusalem and destroyed the Second Temple) and Domitian, with a captive sitting under either a Roman soldier or a war trophy.

Conclusion

The United Nations’ votes to deny the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount is non-fact based political maneuvering on the part of the world body, and those countries that voted in favor of the resolution. Archeology and Muslim authorities not aligned with UNESCO and the Palestinian Authority provide evidence to support the claim that both Jewish Temples existed -- the claim that they didn’t is blatantly implausible. The United Nations resolutions are is nothing short of a baseless attempt to rewrite Jewish history, and by extension, that of Western Civilization. In any future Arab-Israeli peace process, these resolutions will likely only harden the Palestinian Authority’s position on the Old City of Jerusalem without justly preserving Jewish rights there.

Default The False Premise of Palestine and Peace

The False Premise of Palestine and Peace
by Barry Shaw

November 22, 2016

If the international community wants to see Israel make dangerous concessions, then they, and they alone, must ensure that Israel has a united and pragmatic peace partner.

This should be Israel's basic demand: that a united Palestinian political leadership will recognize the right of all the citizens of the Jewish State of Israel to live in peace and security, alongside the State of Palestine.

It is that simple. That is all it takes.

If the international community wants to see Israel make dangerous concessions, then they, and they alone, must ensure that Israel has a united and pragmatic peace partner, not a weak, aging, corrupt, rejectionist and undemocratic leader to our east, who constantly says he will never recognize Israel as the Jewish State, and to our south, in Gaza, a rabid Islamic terror regime bent on our destruction. Thumbs down Muslim Cleric: On Use Of Nuclear Weapons in Service of Islam

Muslim Cleric: We should take nuclear weapons and use them in service of Islam, and eliminate state of the Jews
BY ROBERT SPENCER

https://www.jihadwatch.org/2016/11/m...te-of-the-jews

“We should take the Pakistani nuclear weapons from those criminals, and use them in the service of Islam. We should take these armies, and eliminate the state of the Jews in one or two strikes, and then bring Islam everywhere in the world.”

Why didn’t the vast majority of peaceful Muslims listening to his sermon rise up and remind him that Islam was a religion of peace?

“Palestinian Cleric ‘Abd Al-Salam Abu Al-‘Izz at Al-Aqsa Mosque following Trump’s Victory: We Should Take Matters into Our Hands, Use Pakistani Nukes to Destroy Jewish State,” MEMRI (http://www.memri.org/clip/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/5761.htm), November 16, 2016:

In an address dedicated to the outcome of the U.S. presidential elections, delivered at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Palestinian cleric Sheikh ‘Abd Al-Salam Abu Al-‘Izz said that Muslims should not wait for Trump to start a nuclear war, but rather toss all Muslim rulers “into the garbage bin of history” and “take the Pakistani nuclear weapons from those criminals and use them in the service of Islam.” He further said: “We should take these armies in order and eliminate the state of the Jews in one or two strikes.” The address was posted on the Internet on November 16, 2016.

Here is what he says in full:

The Muslims’ reaction to Trump’s victory was: “Hopefully, he will destroy (the US) and sit on its ruins. May he engage in nuclear wars, from which (the Muslims) will emerge intact.” This is not how things go. What is supposed to happen is that the nation of Islam will rise, and take its matters into its own hands. It should assume control and command over its armies. It should get rid of the governments, kings, sultans, sheikhs and emirs. It should toss them into the garbage bin of history. It does not matter whether we hang them on the gallows or not. What matters is that we should kick them out and move forward. We should take the armies and the weapons from them. We should take the Pakistani nuclear weapons from those criminals, and use them in the service of Islam. We should take these armies, and eliminate the state of the Jews in one or two strikes, and then bring Islam everywhere in the world.

Angry The UN's Palestine Language

The UN's Palestine Language
by A.J. Caschetta

November 30, 2016
https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9432/un-palestine

For decades, UN agencies have slandered the Jewish state, most recently with the April 2016 accusation that it has been "planting Jewish fake graves" in Palestinian territory, and with UNESCO declaring last year that the ancient Jewish Biblical sites Rachel's Tomb and the Cave of the Patriarchs are actually Muslim holy sites, and last month that the Temple Mount, where the Jewish Temples were destroyed in 587 BCE and 70 CE, is an Islamic site with no connection to Judaism.

West Bank: This territory was for millennia called Judea and Samaria. After the 1948 War of Independence, Transjordan annexed it, renamed it the "West Bank," and occupied it for nearly two decades. In the Six Day War, after Jordan attacked Israel, Israel entered the territory and administered it until the Oslo Accords era, when Israel turned over much of the area to the Palestinian Authority.

Occupation: When it comes to Israel, the UN is obsessed with the word "occupation." A recent Wall Street Journal article documents 530 General Assembly references to Israel as an "occupying power" versus zero for Indonesia (East Timor), Turkey (Cyprus), Russia (Georgia, Crimea), Morocco (Western Sahara), Vietnam (Cambodia), Armenia (Azerbaijan), Pakistan (Kashmir), or China (Tibet). Saying that Jews are "occupying" Judea is as nonsensical as saying Arabs are "occupying" Arabia or Gauls are "occupying" France.

Settlement: The UN uses the term to insinuate Israeli theft of "Palestine." The Obama administration eagerly embraced this terminology. If there is an occupying force in Gaza, it is Hamas. The West Bank is "disputed territories" to anyone claiming a modicum of neutrality. As Elliot Abrams put it, "the term 'settlement' loses meaning when applied to Jews building homes in their nation's capital city."

US President-elect Donald Trump won the White House promising to reform our dysfunctional government. But will he also stand up to the even more dysfunctional United Nations?

As the Trump campaign emphasized in a position paper (https://medium.com/@jgreenblatt/join...7a8#.uz6wuawli) released November 2, the UN has long displayed "enormous anti-Israel bias." For decades, UN agencies have slandered the Jewish state, most recently with the April 2016 accusation (http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/002...43/244378e.pdf) that it has been "planting Jewish fake graves" in Palestinian territory, and with UNESCO declaring (https://www.breakingisraelnews.com/5...tes-jerusalem/) last year that the ancient Jewish Biblical sites Rachel's Tomb and the Cave of the Patriarchs are actually Muslim holy sites, and last month that the Temple Mount, where the First and Second Jewish Temples were destroyed in 587 BCE and 70 CE, is an Islamic site with no connection to Judaism. On the day America elected a new president, the UN adopted (http://www.timesofisrael.com/un-comm...6629c-54433993) ten new resolutions against Israel.

UNESCO last year declared ancient Jewish Biblical sites to actually be Muslim holy sites: the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron (left) as the "Ibrahimi Mosque," and Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem (right) as the "Bilal ibn Rabah Mosque." (Images source: Wikimedia Commons)

Thumbs down Fatah official: The US and Israel "assassinated" Arafat

Fatah official:
The US and Israel "assassinated" Arafat

PA TV educates kids:
"They killed Yasser Arafat,
because until his final breath
he defended the children of his people
in war and in peace,
diplomatically and also with a rifle"

https://www.palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc_id=19277

Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik

The Palestinian Authority continues to demonize Israelis to its youth. On the PA TV children's program The Best Home, the host told children that Israel killed their former leader Yasser Arafat along with "many of our people... They killed Yasser Arafat, because until his final breath he defended the children of his people in war and in peace, diplomatically and also with a rifle, with a weapon." [Official PA TV, The Best Home, Nov. 11, 2016]

In response, a young boy repeated a famous Arafat chant glorifying fighting and dying in order to take Jerusalem from Israel:

Boy: "In spirit and blood we will redeem you Al-Aqsa!
In spirit and blood we will redeem you Al-Aqsa!
Millions of Martyrs are marching towards Jerusalem!
Millions of Martyrs are marching towards Jerusalem!"

Responding to this call for Martyrdom the TV host affirmed to the children:

Host: "We will follow Yasser Arafat's path..."

PA and Fatah leaders promote this accusation (http://www.palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=769) every year as Palestinian Media Watch (http://www.palwatch.org/) has documented. Some even extend the libel to include the US, saying that Israel and the US conspired to murder Arafat. An addition this year is that they had the help of a Palestinian traitor. Fatah Central Committee member stated that "a treacherous hand helped the US and Israel assassinate the symbol Arafat":

"Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki said... that the US and Israel are the main suspects in the assassination of Arafat, in addition to a 'treacherous' hand that is suspected in the crime...
He added: 'This matter is very complicated, particularly because the ones who stand behind it are Israel and the US who place great obstacles before the investigation in order to prevent reaching the truth and announcing it.'"
[Amad, independent Palestinian news agency, Nov. 10, 2016]

Similarly, Fatah Advisory Council member Ahmed Abd Al-Rahman cited a fictitious conversation between then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and then US President George Bush:

"I say that they put poison into his ear a year earlier. A slow poison. And it began to work gradually and Yasser Arafat's health deteriorated... [Former Israeli Prime Minister] Sharon said to [former US President] Bush: 'My brother, let us get rid of him and kill him.' [He was talking] about Arafat. [Bush] told him: 'Leave it to God.' Sharon responded to him: 'But God needs helpers on earth.''"
[Official PA TV, State of Politics, Nov. 15, 2016]

Click to view video> http://www.palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi...4&doc_id=19275

Another Fatah official eager to promote the libel that Israel murdered Arafat is Fatah Central Committee member Dr. Nasser Al-Qidwa, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Commemoration of Yasser Arafat. As in previous years, he "accused Israel of its responsibility for the assassination of the late Martyr Yasser Arafat." [Ma'an, independent Palestinian news agency, Nov. 13, 2016]

Some PA and Fatah leaders have added a new aspect to the libel this year and are accusing Israel of plotting to kill the current PA leader Mahmoud Abbas as well (http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc_id=19074), as reported by PMW.

The following are longer excerpts of the statements accusing Israel of murdering Arafat:

Official PA TV host: "We want to know who killed our late leader [Yasser Arafat]. Certainly it is the occupation, but we need proof in order to present the facts to the world.... [In 2002], the Israeli occupation entered every area of the West Bank and tried to kill many. It killed many of our [Palestinian] people... They killed Yasser Arafat, because until his final breath he defended the children of his people in war and in peace, diplomatically and also with a rifle, with a weapon..."

Boy chants Arafat's slogans:
"In spirit and blood we will redeem you Al-Aqsa!
In spirit and blood we will redeem you Al-Aqsa!
Millions of Martyrs are marching towards Jerusalem!
Millions of Martyrs are marching towards Jerusalem!"

PA TV host: "We will follow Yasser Arafat's path and his promise, and also [follow] the path of our current president, leader Mahmoud Abbas, because he wants all of us to be the future of Palestine, and through all of us, he wants to struggle against the occupation's army and Israel, whose strength is military while our strength is our creativity and our minds. We will fight them before the entire world. Allah willing they will soon leave Palestine, defeated."
[Official PA TV, The Best Home, Nov. 11, 2016]

The host's reference to Israel entering the West Bank in 2002 refers to Israel's Operation Defensive Shield - a large Israeli military operation in April 2002 in response to the many suicide bombings during the PA terror campaign (the second Intifada, 2000-2005). Israel put Arafat under siege and invaded six of the largest West Bank cities in an attempt to destroy the terror infrastructure.

Official PA TV program State of Politics, hosting Fatah Advisory Council member Ahmed Abd Al-Rahman

Fatah Advisory Council member, Ahmed Abd Al-Rahman: "Regarding the fate of Yasser Arafat, it was after they [the Israelis] were unable to control him politically, in other words to cause him to make concessions and to submit. They did not find a solution other than eliminating him in this way... I say that they put poison into his ear a year earlier. A slow poison. And it began to work gradually and Yasser Arafat's health deteriorated... [Former Israeli Prime Minister] Sharon said to [former US President] Bush: 'My brother, let us get rid of him and kill him.' [He was talking] about Arafat. [Bush] told him: 'Leave it to God.' Sharon responded to him: 'But God needs helpers on earth.' There was a journalist with Sharon who wrote a biography on Sharon, and this is what he noted (there are no records of such a conversation -Ed.)"
[Official PA TV, State of Politics, Nov. 15, 2016]

Headline: "Abbas Zaki: A treacherous hand helped the US and Israel assassinate the symbol Arafat"
"Fatah Central Committee member [and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations] Abbas Zaki revealed that there are a number of sources behind the assassination of the late [PA] President Yasser Arafat.
Zaki, in a statement to the Hamas movement website 'Al-Risalah Net', said on Thursday evening [Nov. 10, 2016] that the US and Israel are the main suspects in the assassination of Arafat (this conspiracy theory has been refuted by international investigators, -Ed.), in addition to a 'treacherous' hand that is suspected in the crime, and they are trying to investigate it, according to him.
He added: 'This matter is very complicated, particularly because the ones who stand behind it are Israel and the US who place great obstacles before the investigation in order to thwart reaching the truth and announcing it.'
Zaki emphasized that the investigation committee continues to search for the hand that committed the crime, and noted that they are postponing the announcement of the murderer so as 'not to harm the investigation and to reach the required results.'
He noted that the announcement of the results will take place immediately after the investigation committee completes its work, and expressed hope that they would reach results in this matter.
[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas declared today [Nov. 10, 2016] that he knows the murderer of the late [PA] President Yasser Arafat, and emphasized that the result will soon be exposed 'and the Palestinian people will be astonished when it discovers who the perpetrators are.'"
[Amad, independent Palestinian news agency, Nov. 10, 2016]

Headline: "This is what Al-Qidwa said about the assassination of Yasser Arafat and his final days in the hospital"
"Fatah Central Committee member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute [for the Commemoration] of Yasser Arafat Dr. Nasser Al-Qidwa again accused Israel of its responsibility for the assassination of the late Martyr (Shahid) Yasser Arafat (these conspiracy theories have been refuted by international investigators, -Ed.), and said that he has already expressed this position more than once.
Al-Qidwa, as part of the program The Difficult Questions presented by colleague [Director of the Ma'an independent Palestinian news agency] Dr. Nasser Al-Lahham, stated that there is evidence and facts that prove the involvement of Israel in the assassination of Yasser Arafat, among them the Israeli siege of the Muqata'a (i.e., the PA's presidential headquarters, reference is to 2002 counter-terror Operation Defensive Shield, see note below), and the decision of the government of Israel to get rid of Yasser Arafat. This is in addition to the medical reports, including the French report, which said that pathology cannot explain this case, and conclusively pointed to poisoning (French experts ruled out poisoning -Ed.), alongside a long list of evidence that points to Israel...
Likewise, he again emphasized that the nuclear material that the French report spoke of, plutonium (sic., polonium-210), is a dangerous substance found only in the hands of nuclear states, and Israel is a nuclear state that possesses it."

Fatah Official Abbas Zaki Participates in a Hamas Rally, Salutes Al-Qassam Brigades: Anyone Who Bears Arms for Palestine Is Sacred to Us

December 17, 2016
Clip No. 5812

https://www.memri.org/tv/fatah-offic...ars/transcript

Speaking at a Hamas rally held in Ramallah on the 29th anniversary of the organization's inception, Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki said that "we are working to cooperate and reach a true partnership in politics, and to stand side by side, in the same trench, against our common enemy - Israel." Zaki saluted the Al-Qassam Brigades, as well as the fighters and martyrs of all factions, and addressed the leaders of Hamas, Fatah, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, saying: "Let us embark on 2017 with the internal Palestinian conflict behind us." His address was broadcast by the Al-Jazeera network on December 17.

Abbas Zaki: Let me say here in the name of Fatah – its leadership and its cadres – how much we are working to cooperate and reach a true partnership in politics, and to stand side by side, in the same trench, against our common enemies – against Israel, which…

Crowd chanting: Onward, Al-Qassam Brigades!
Crowd chanting: Onward, Al-Qassam Brigades!
Crowd chanting: Onward, Al-Qassam Brigades!

Abbas Zaki: I salute the Al-Qassam Brigades. Therefore, anyone who bears arms for the sake of Palestine is sacred to us. This is important, because he knows that by doing so, he is sacrificing his life and all he owns for the sake of the homeland – whether he languishes in prison or is in Paradise. He sends a message regarding the most just of all causes of this day and age: The people of the Palestinian cause do not bow their heads. They carry the banner, and work miracles when things are shrouded in darkness, or when people lose hope. I salute you and anyone – from any faction – who has borne arms. I salute the martyrs of all factions. It is only natural for us to commemorate them on a day like this – the day that this force of resistance [Hamas] began to operate for the sake of Palestine.

[…]

I say to Khaled Mash'al, Mahmoud Abbas, and all other relevant parties, especially Ramadan Shalah… I say to all these leaders: Let us embark on 2017 with the internal Palestine conflict behind us. Thus, we shall begin our ascent and demonstration once again that the Palestinian people are the spearhead of the region. The compass will not, under any circumstances, point toward America or Israel, as a result of differences among us. Enough! The restoration of Palestine is the top priority of all our fighters.

Angry UN, Obama Further Radicalize Palestinians

UN, Obama Further Radicalize Palestinians
By Khaled Abu Toameh

December 29, 2016
https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9...a-palestinians

Last week's UN Security Council resolution sent the following message to the Palestinians: Forget about negotiating. Just pressure the international community to force Israel to surrender up all that you demand.

Abbas and his cronies are more belligerent and defiant than ever. They have chosen the path of confrontation, and not direct negotiations -- to force Israel to its knees.

One of Abbas's close associates hinted that the resolution should be regarded as a green light not only to boycott Israel, but also to use violence against it, to "bolster the popular resistance" against Israel -- code for throwing stones and firebombs, and carrying out stabbing and car-ramming attacks against Israelis.

The resolution has also encouraged the Palestinians to pursue their narrative that Jews have no historical, religious or emotional attachment to Jerusalem or any other part of Israel.

The Gaza-based Hamas and Islamic Jihad see the resolution as another step toward their goal of replacing Israel with an Islamic empire. When Hamas talks about "resistance," it means suicide bombings and rockets against Israel -- it does not believe in "light" terrorism such as stones and stabbings.

The UN's highly touted "victory," is a purely Pyrrhic one, in fact a true defeat to the peace process and to the few Arabs and Muslims who still believe in the possibility of coexistence with Israel.

Buoyed by the latest United Nations Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements as illegal, Palestinian leaders are now threatening to step up their diplomatic warfare against Israel -- a move that is sure to sabotage any future effort to revive the moribund peace process. Other Palestinians, meanwhile, view the resolution as license to escalate "resistance" attacks on Israel. By "resistance," of course, they mean terror attacks against Israel.

The UNSC resolution sent the following message to the Palestinians: Forget about negotiating with Israel. Just pressure the international community to force Israel to comply with the resolution and surrender up all that you demand.

Meanwhile, the Palestinians are not wasting any time by waiting for the international community to act against Israel on their behalf. Rather, they are thinking of ways of taking advantage of the UNSC vote to promote their campaign to isolate and delegitimize Israel, especially in the international arena. One thing is certain: Abbas and his Palestinian Authority cronies are not planning to return to the negotiating table with Israel. In fact, they are more belligerent, confrontational and defiant than ever.

In the days following the UNSC vote, the voices emerging from Ramallah and the Gaza Strip clearly indicate that Palestinians have put themselves on a collision course with Israel. This bodes badly for any peace process.

Earlier this week, Abbas convened the PLO Executive Committee -- a decision-making body dominated by his loyalists -- to discuss the implications of the new resolution. The declared purpose of the meeting: to discuss the decisions and strategy that the Palestinian leadership needs to take in the aftermath of the resolution.

The decisions announced following the PLO meeting are a clear sign of the new approach that Abbas and the Palestinian leadership have endorsed. The Palestinian leaders have chosen the path of confrontation, and not direct negotiations, with Israel. They see the UNSC resolution, particularly the US abstention, as a charge sheet against Israel that is to be leveraged in their diplomatic effort to force Israel to its knees.

The PLO decisions include, among other things, an appeal to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to launch an "immediate judicial investigation into Israeli colonial settlements on the land of the independent State of Palestine." Another decision envisages asking Switzerland to convene a meeting to look into ways of forcing Israel to apply the Fourth Geneva Convention to the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. The Geneva Convention, adopted in 1949, defines "humanitarian protections for civilians in a war zone."

The appeal to the ICC and Switzerland is part of Abbas's strategy to "internationalize" the conflict with Israel, by involving as many parties as possible. In this context, Abbas is hoping that the UNSC resolution will ensure the "success" of the upcoming French-initiated Middle East peace conference, which is slated to convene in Paris next month. For Abbas, the conference is another tool to isolate Israel in the international community, and depict it as a country that rejects peace with its Arab neighbors.

In addition, Abbas and his lieutenants in Ramallah are now seeking to exploit the UNSC resolution to promote boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel:

"The PLO Executive Committee renews its call to the world countries for a comprehensive and full boycott of Israeli colonialist settlements in all fields, as well as all companies working in or dealing with these settlements."

One of Abbas's close associates, Mohamed Shtayyeh, hinted that the UNSC resolution should be regarded as a green light not only to boycott Israel, but also to use violence against it. He said that this is the time to "bolster the popular resistance" against Israel. "Popular resistance" is code for throwing stones and petrol bombs and carrying out stabbing and car-ramming attacks against Israelis.

The UNSC resolution has also encouraged the Palestinians to pursue their narrative that Jews have no historical, religious or emotional attachment to Jerusalem, or any other part of Israel. Sheikh Ekrimah Sabri, a leading Palestinian Islamic cleric and preacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, was quick to declare that the Western Wall, the holiest Jewish site in Jerusalem, belongs only to Muslims. Referring to the wall by its Islamic name, Sheikh Sabri announced: "The Al-Buraq Wall is the western wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Muslims cannot give it up."

While Abbas and his Palestinian Authority consider the UNSC resolution a license to proceed with their diplomatic warfare to delegitimize and isolate Israel, Hamas and Islamic Jihad, the two groups that seek the elimination of Israel, are also celebrating. The two Gaza-based groups see the resolution as another step toward achieving their goal of replacing Israel with an Islamic empire. Leaders and spokesmen of Hamas and Islamic Jihad were among the first Palestinians to heap praise on the UNSC members who voted in favor of the resolution. They are also openly stating that the resolution authorizes them to step up the "resistance" against Israel in order to "liberate all of Palestine."

"Resistance is the only means to end the settlements," said a Hamas spokesman in the Gaza Strip. "We appreciate the position of those countries that voted against settlements." He also seized the opportunity to renew Hamas's demand that the Palestinian Authority stop all forms of cooperation with Israel, first and foremost security coordination.

When Hamas talks about "resistance," it means launching suicide bombings and rockets against Israel. The Islamist movement does not believe in "light" terrorism such as stones and knife stabbings against Jews.

Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, who is based in Qatar, reacted to the UNSC vote by saying that the world should now support his movement's terror campaign against Israel:

"We want the world to stand with the Palestinian resistance because it is just... The armed resistance is the path to liberate Palestine and Jerusalem. Hamas is continuing to manufacture and smuggle weapons in preparation for a confrontation with Israel."

Mashaal did not forget to praise the US Administration's abstention as a "correction of some American policies."

Islamic Jihad, for its part, characterized the UNSC resolution as a "victory" for the Palestinians, because it enables them to "isolate and boycott Israel" and file charges against it with international institutions. Daoud Shehab, one of the leaders of Islamic Jihad, added that the resolution means that Arabs should stop any effort to "normalize" relations with Israel or conduct security cooperation with it. The Arabs and Muslims should now work toward confronting and deterring Israel, he said.

Clearly, Hamas and Islamic Jihad see the UNSC resolution as a warning to all Arabs and Muslims against seeking any form of "normalization" with Israel. The two groups are referring to the Palestinian Authority, whose security forces continue to conduct security coordination with Israel in the West Bank, and to those Arab countries that have been rumored to be moving toward some form of rapprochement with Israel. The UN's highly touted "victory" is a purely Pyrrhic one, in fact a true defeat to the peace process and to the few Arabs and Muslims who still believe in the possibility of coexistence with Israel.

Thus, the UNSC resolution already has had several consequences, none of which will enhance peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Apart from giving a green light to Palestinian groups that wish to destroy Israel, the resolution has prompted Abbas and the Palestinian Authority to toughen their stance, and appear to be more radical than the radicals.

Far from moving the region toward peace, the resolution has encouraged the Palestinians to move forward in two parallel paths -- one toward a diplomatic confrontation with Israel in the international arena, and the other in increased terror attacks against its people. The coming weeks and months will witness mounting violence on the part of Palestinians toward Israelis -- a harmful legacy of the Obama Administration.

Thumbs down Hamas's Fatah and the No-State Solution

Hamas's Fatah and the No-State Solution
by Khaled Abu Toameh

January 3, 2017
https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9707/hamas-fatah

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas declared that 2017 will be the "year of international recognition of the State of Palestine."

The melee in Gaza exposes as the lie that it is Abbas's repeated claim of a unified Fatah able to lead the Palestinians towards statehood. Incredibly, Abbas seeks global recognition of a Palestinian state at a time when the flames in his own backyard are set to engulf him and his questionable regime.

More bad news from the poll: if presidential elections were to be held today, Ismail Haniyeh, leader of the terrorist group Hamas, would beat Abbas by 49% to 45%.

Palestinians are now openly talking about two different Fatah factions. After Abbas's decision to strip the legislators of their parliamentary immunity, six Fatah PLC members participated in a Hamas-sponsored meeting of the PLC in the Gaza Strip. This was the first time since 2007 that such a move had been made.

Fatah leaders in the Gaza Strip, unlike their colleagues in the West Bank, are de facto recognizing the Hamas rule over the Gaza Strip. This is wonderful news for Hamas, whose leader, Ismail Haniyeh is likely to defeat Abbas in a presidential election.

The Fatah gunmen who marched in the Gaza Strip courtesy of Hamas are not supporters of Abbas. Instead, they represent the "other face" of Fatah -- the one that does not believe in any peace process with Israel and shares Hamas's ambition of destroying Israel.

During a celebration in Ramallah marking the 52nd anniversary of the founding of his Fatah faction, Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas declared that 2017 will be the "year of international recognition of the State of Palestine." Hailing the recent anti-settlement UN Security Council resolution 2334, Abbas said he was prepared to work with the new administration of Donald Trump "to achieve peace in the region."

Atleast you're being honest with your goal. I prefer that to the PA who tell us they respect Israel, but actually work behind the scenes to undermine Israel's security and hope to destabilize enough to steal all of Israel.

That being said, you're banned for supporting terrorism.

Dont be a fool. The arabs have never managed to even unite amongst themselves thanks to the hatred bred among the arab people, even less unite against Israel. You are weak and even weaker as the entire world is suspicious of arabs now with your terrorism worldwide campaigns. When you're not killing infidels you are killing eachother like in Syria and elsewhere.
