Netanyahu: Israel Has Consistently Supported Move of US Embassy to Jerusalem

May 16, 2017

Netanyahu exposed transcriptions of discussions between Israeli and American officials to prove Israel has consistently supported the move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In a rare occurrence, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu exposed sections of transcriptions of discussions between high-ranking Israeli and American officials to prove Israel has consistently supported the move of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the Jewish state’s capital.

Netanyahu’s office published the transcriptions on Monday following a tweet by Fox News correspondent Conor Powell which claimed that “Everyone I’ve spoken to in DC that has been briefed on Jerusalem embassy move says Netanyahu told Trump not to move the embassy at this time.”

The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement flatly denying the report and saying that “the claims posted by a Fox News correspondent are false.”

To support the statement, the PMO released quotes from summaries of Netanyahu’s meetings with President Donald Trump on February 17, recorded by Israel’s acting national security adviser, Jacob Nagel.

In a meeting in the Oval Office, Nagel wrote: “5. The embassy – the PM supports moving it.”

During the lunch meeting at the White House, “the PM was asked about the embassy and explained [that moving it] would not lead to bloodshed in the region, as some were trying to intimidate [President Trump] into believing.”

In a summary of an earlier meeting between Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer and National Security Advisor-designate Michael Flynn on January 16, “[Dermer] explained why moving the embassy would help advance peace and not the opposite.”

“This would send the message that we are in Jerusalem to stay. Moving the embassy would force the other side to contend with the lie they’ve constructed – that Israel has no connection to Jerusalem – and will cause them to understand that Israel will be here forever with Jerusalem as its capital,” Nagel wrote.

“This is the clear and consistent position of Prime Minister Netanyahu, which he reiterated today,” Netanyahu’s office stated.

There were previous reports that Trump intended to announce the embassy move, but was prevented from doing so by Israel.

Embassy Move Will Promote Peace

Netanyahu stated Sunday that moving the US embassy to Jerusalem would advance peace between Israel and the Palestinians, rather than harm the process.

He was responding to remarks made by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that Trump is considering the impact such a move could have on a peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.

Netanyahu’s office responded by stating that “Israel’s position has been stated many times to the American administration and to the world: Moving the American embassy to Jerusalem would not harm the peace process.”

“On the contrary, it would advance it by correcting an historical injustice and by shattering the Palestinian fantasy that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel.”

While Trump repeatedly stated his support for the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem on the campaign trail and after his election, as time passes Israel is losing faith that such a move will actually happen.

All US presidents since 1995 have availed themselves of a provision in the law allowing the president to delay the move by signing a waiver affirming that in his judgment the move would harm America’s national security interests. The waiver must be signed every six months, and was last signed by Barack Obama in October. Trump’s visit would be shortly before he is due to sign it at the beginning of June.

While a recent news report surfaced that Trump has decided not to move the embassy to Jerusalem, the White House and the Prime Minister’s Office have both denied the report, and Jerusalem is waiting anxiously for a final decision on the issue.

I sure hope President Trump will stick to his promise. Him trying to make peace between Israelis and Arabs is NOT helping! Arabs want Jerusalem as the capital of their future state and part of their caliphate! There is no peace deal without it involving giving up east Jerusalem and the Temple mount over the control of the arabs! America MUST MAKE IT CLEAR, a peace deal YES, but without Jerusalem as part of any discussions. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and thats that!

WABA,

I concur with your concerns New Ron, President Trump MUST stick to his promise of moving the USA Embassy from Tell Aviv to the eternal Capital of Israel, " Jerusalem ", I would accept " West Jerusalem " as a present compromise, as I believe in the near future " West Jerusalem " and " East Jerusalem " will merge in to their rightful State as " Jerusalem" as of and from the days of King David.

Jerusalem has NEVER EVER been the " Capital " of any other people / or Country, but ' Israel " and her " Jewish " owners for well over 3000 years ago.

I do have one concern, POTUS Trump has/is visiting with 80 odd " Sunni " Arab nations in Saudi Arabia, apparently there is mention of " Military Arms Sales " of over 100 Billion Dollars to these " Sunni " nations, what sort of a deal has the USA work out with the " Sunni's " ?

I'm worried that the faux " Palestinian's " will agree to possible USA State Department offer to a " Peace " deal between Israel and the Faux Palestinian's, in that the " Faux Palestinian's " will recognise the " Jewish State " of Israel, but ONLY if the " Jewish State " recognises " East Jerusalem " as the " Capital " of the faux " Palestinian " people and the " West Bank " as the State of Palestine.

Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel, so it has been and so it will be long after USA is gone and forgotten.

I certainly agree with Your statement.

Whilst, I am a " Trump " supporter , ALL those promises during the POTUS election suddenly seem to be going in to a " silence ".

I'm worried that the 100's of billions of $dollars promised by the Saudi's may " slow down " the promised movement of the USA Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the USA State Department would certainly be backing this.

You only have to look at the 'cowardice ' of the last 4 POTUS's , in suddenly breaking their " promised " movement of the USA Embassy to Jerusalem.

The whole stupidity is the FACT that there no such ethnic people as the " Palestinians ", and NO SUCH Country as 'Palestine".

This whole hoax of Palestine and the Palestinians is laughable. Israel must educate the rest of the World through a few education speeches at the U.N..

All these so called "faux Palestinian's " are, are South Syrian / Egyptian Arabs.

And there so called ' Palestine " is the historic Homeland of its historic Jewish Owners foe over 3000 years, of Judea and Samaria .

United with Israel

Michael Gerbitz and Nir Barkat
Trump, Netanyahu and Barkat Receive ‘Jerusalem Declaration’

May 26, 2017

(JERUSALEM, Israel – May 26, 2017) A historic initiative bearing over 500,000 signatures from 168 countries presented to US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat is a global statement of support for a united Jerusalem.

Just prior to US President Donald Trump’s whirlwind tour of Israel and the breathtaking, emotional 50th anniversary Jerusalem Day celebrations across the country, the staff of United with Israel, the world’s largest grassroots pro-Israel movement, met with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat to present him with the ‘Jerusalem Declaration,’ a historic book containing the names of over 500,000 individuals from around the world who recognize Jerusalem as both the eternal capital of the Jewish People and the undivided capital of the State of Israel.

Mayor Barkat, an outspoken proponent of maintaining Israeli sovereignty throughout all areas of Jerusalem, was very moved by the volume, a beautifully designed hardcopy version of United with Israel’s ever-growing online petition, as he appreciated the powerful statement of grassroots support for a united Jerusalem.

“This declaration is a beautiful way of enabling people to show their love for our city. It’s very original and it warms my heart,” said Mayor Barkat as he studied the book. “I am grateful to United with Israel for helping Jerusalem lovers and supporters come together and show their commitment to the eternal, united and undivided capital of Israel and the heart and soul of the Jewish people.”

With millions of supporters around the world, United with Israel promotes global unity with the nation and land of Israel by spreading the truth about Israel, highlighting the positive global impact of Israeli technological and medical advances, fighting media bias, the BDS movement and online incitement and initiating calls to action that turn its followers into advocates for Israel.

Since the Jerusalem Declaration went live on United with Israel’s online platform several years ago, it has garnered support from individuals in 168 countries, including Arab states and other nations that are fiercely critical of Israel, all of whom are willing to stand with Israel in support of keeping Jerusalem united under permanent Israeli control.

‘Only the First Step’
“Although half a million signatures is a significant milestone, and one worth celebrating, it is only the first step. Thankfully, global support for this historic undertaking continues to grow rapidly, and we are marching towards true international awareness of the underlying issue: Israel’s right to exist and the necessity of a strong and undivided Jerusalem as the foundation of the one and only Jewish homeland,” explained Michael Gerbitz, founder of United with Israel.

“As Jerusalem Day celebrations continue, our petition stands as a reminder to the world that Jerusalem is not merely a city, but an eternal symbol of the Jewish nation’s deep roots in the Land of Israel. If the status of Jerusalem were ever to be called into question, the Jewish people’s right to exist in Israel – and elsewhere – would immediately follow suit. Jerusalem can never be seen as just another item up for negotiation because it is the very basis of our national identity.”

Following their meeting with Mayor Barkat, United with Israel members hung a massive banner bearing the actual names of the Jerusalem Declaration’s more than 500,000 supporters on the outer walls of Jerusalem and in several high-traffic locations throughout the Old City. The extraordinary sign, an impressive feat of Israeli technology and design that was produced using multiple specialized digital printing machines, encouraged dialogue among onlookers, including Israeli residents and active IDF soldiers, birthright groups, and tourists from around the world.

The groups flocked to Hurva Square where United with Israel was displaying additional hardcopies of the Jerusalem Declaration and amassing additional signatures for the online petition. The face-to-face campaigning was so successful that the United with Israel staff returned to the Old City on Jerusalem Day to engage with the thousands of residents, students and tourists who came out to celebrate the milestone anniversary.

Outpouring of Support is Making a Difference

“Jerusalem is our link to the past and our conduit to a bright future. It is our responsibility to spread the message that Jerusalem is simply non-negotiable and indivisible, and the outpouring of support that we saw here in Jerusalem and that we continue to see every day online gives me hope that we are truly making a difference,” said Gerbitz.

In the two weeks since the hardcopy version of the Jerusalem Declaration was sent to print, online support has climbed to well over 540,000 signatures. To learn more about the initiative and sign the petition, click HERE.

United with Israel is a global movement comprised of individuals who are deeply committed to the success and prosperity of Israel. While building a massive network of pro-Israel activists to promote unity with the People, Country and Land of Israel, UWI has developed efficient channels of communication to distribute critical information about Israel in real-time in an effort to educate, inspire and empower their ever-growing readership about practical ways to support, promote and defend the truth about Israel.
