Arrow Muslim slaughtering Muslim

Sunni Muslims ambush, murder 16 Shi'ite Muslims in Pakistan

Look at the AFP headline: "Gunmen kill 16 Shiite Muslims in Pakistan:
officials." Note how the mainstream media readily identifies the victims as Muslims, but not the perpetrators, even though they were just as Muslim as their victims, and were killing them at least in part because they regarded them as Rafidite dogs, heretics from the true Islam.

In the story also, the victims are again identified as "Shi'ite Muslims" and the violence described as "sectarian," but the aggressors are identified only obliquely. Since the violence is "sectarian" and "the incident took place...in the Sunni dominated Charkhel area," we can surmise that the murderers were "Sunni Muslims," but they're never identified as such.

This is of a piece with the mainstream media's general tendency to whitewash violence committed by Muslims in the name of Islam. Muslims can only be victims. When they kill, they're not Muslims anymore, they're just "gunmen."

"Gunmen kill 16 Shiite Muslims in Pakistan: officials," from AFP, July 17:
PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AFP) - Sixteen Shiite Muslims were killed and four wounded Saturday in an apparent sectarian ambush in a remote tribal town in northwest Pakistan, a paramilitary spokesman and local officials said.

The incident took place early Saturday in the Sunni dominated Charkhel area on Tal-Parachinar road in the violence-hit Kurram tribal district, close to the Afghan border.

The victims were heading to Peshawar in two passenger vehicles when unidentified attackers ambushed them in a hail of gunfire, officials said.

Major Fazal-Ur-Rehman, a spokesman for the paramilitary Frontier Corps, confirmed the attack.

Local administrative and intelligence officials also confirmed the incident and said that all those killed were Shiite Muslims....

Jihad/martyrdom bombers smile for the camera before killing 28 at Iranian mosque

They were apparently proud that they were about to "kill and be killed" for Allah (cf. Qur'an 9:111). "The last moments: Two suicide bombers pose for the camera as they strap on explosive vests before killing 28 at Iranian mosque," from the Daily Mail, July 16:
These are the last moments of two suicide bombers as they strap on explosive vests minutes before detonating them at a prominent Shi'ite mosque in south east Iran.

Sunni Muslim rebel group Jundollah has claimed responsibility for the attack near the Grand Mosque in Zahedan, which it says was in retaliation for the execution of its leader Abdolmalek Rigi last month.

Iranian clerical leaders have claimed the attack was supported by the U.S. in order to create instability in the Middle East country.

The powerful bombs killed at least 28 people at the holy site, including elite members of the Revolutionary Guard, and were apparently carried out by relatives of Abdolmalek Rigi.

Al Arabiya television reported: 'The group said the suicide attacks were carried out by Abdolbaset Rigi and Mohammad Rigi... and warned of more operations to come.'

Senior Iranian lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi said the U.S. should be held accountable for the 'terrorist acts in Zahedan' because of its support for Jundollah.

Cleric Kazem Sediqi said in a sermon broadcast on state radio today: 'Once more the wicked hand of America appeared out of the sleeves of ignorant and mercenary people.'...
What? Not the Zionist Jews?

Sunni suicide bomber sets off yet another Peace Bomb at Shi'ite mosque, wounds eight

There have been a run of these kinds of attacks lately. "Suicide bombing at Pakistani mosque wounds 8," from AP, July 18:
ISLAMABAD - A suicide bomber ran past guards at a minority Shiite mosque in eastern Pakistan then blew himself up Sunday, wounding eight worshippers, officials said.

The attack appeared to be the latest in a string by Sunni extremists against other Muslims they consider infidels.

It took place in Sargodha city, which is in Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province and its political heartland....

Government official Zulfikar Shah said guards at the mosque tried to stop the suicide attacker, but he evaded them.

Sargodha police chief Bashir Ahmad said eight people had been taken to the hospital, two of whom were in critical condition. The attacker apparently was not more than 17-years-old, he added.

Earlier this month, militants bombed a Muslim shrine in the Punjabi city of Lahore, killing more than 40 people....

The main issue between the Sunni and Shi'ite sects is which sect will bring forth the Mahdi. Sunni groups have been destroying Shi'ite mosques to prevent the "12th Imam" from appearing or rising out of the 'well' that the young boy was hidden in. Even though the '12th' was hidden in a well in Jamkaran, Iran; I suppose that the other Shi'ite mosques are being targeted for good measure. Go figure!!!

http://www.inplainsite.org/html/imam_mahdi.html

Who Is Imam Mahdi?
“According to the Shiite version of Islam the 12th descendant of Mohammed, known as the 12th Imam or the Mahdi, (Also known as the "Hidden Imam”) went into hiding in 941, some 1300 years ago. At an earlier time of rising tensions, the 10th imam was forced from his home in Medina by the powerful Sunni caliph in Baghdad and was sent to live in Samarra, where he could be kept under closer supervision. Both he and his son were believed to have been poisoned by the caliphate. Fearing such persecution, Muhammad al-Mahdi, who was just a child when he became the 12th imam. Then he is said to have gone into what Shiites call occultation, a kind of suspended state from which it is believed he will return. Shiites believe he will reappear when the world has become full of oppression and tyranny. They believe that he is hidden in the Jamkaran well in Iran, which is a place of pilgrimage for believers who drop their requests for help into the well in the hope that the Imam will read them and come to their aid”.The February 22nd bombing of Shiite Islam's holiest shrines, the Golden Mosque in the town of Samarra has sparked considerable retaliatory killing as, according to legend, the 12th Imam, was at the site of the shrine before he disappeared. (2 of the 12 imams revered by mainstream Shiites are buried there including the 11th imam, Hassan al-Askari).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shia_Islam

In contrast to other schools of thought, Shia Islam holds that Muhammad's family, the Ahl al-Bayt ("the People of the House"), and certain individuals among his descendants, who are known as Imams, have special spiritual and political authority over the community.[2][4] Shia Muslims further believe that Ali, Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law, was the first of these Imams and was the rightful successor to Muhammad[5] and thus reject the legitimacy of the first three caliphs.[5][6]

http://answering-islam.org/BehindVeil/btv12.html

"Ibn Qutayba says that the differences between the recitations of the various Qur’anic copies may include the meaning also."
Also on page 109, he says:
"When Abu Bakr and ’Umar assigned Zayd ibn Thabit to compile the Qur’an, there was a previous compilation of the Qur’an made by a group of the greatest companions such as ’Ali ibn Abi Talib, ibn Mas’ud and ibn ’Abbas and others."
The Muslim has the right to wonder and to ask why Abu Bakr and ’Umar took the trouble to do that when ibn Mas’ud and ibn ’Abbas who were (according to Muhammad) the most knowledgeable people in the Qur’an, had already accomplished it? Why did they not at least add them to the committee or solicit their opinions?
In regard to the copy of ’Ali ibn Abi Talib, the Imam Khu’i tells us in his book, "al-Bayan" (page 222), the following:
"The existence of Imam ’Ali’s copy is an unquestionable matter. All scholars admit it and say that it contains additions which are not found in the current Qur’an. These additions are under the title of ‘The Revelation of God for the Explanation of the Intended’ (purpose)."
The Imam Khu’i is one of the greatest scholars among the Shi’ites. He drew his information from what the Imam al-Tabari had recorded in his book, "’al-Ihtijaj"’ ("Apology")

So Ali had his own version of the Qur'an with differing verses and interpretations from other texts. There have always been internal battles within and between the various sects of Islam (not unlike Christianity), only now at the "end times," these differences are erupting into a major conflict between these differing 'schools of thought.' Should the 'real Islam' ever conquer the world, there will still be a war between sects because each sect will have its own Mahdi. 'Islam' will embroil the whole planet in their sectarian battle. Isn't Islam fun!!!???!!!

Mosque bomb injures 20 in Afghanistan

The Taliban don't even hesitate to set off a bomb inside a mosque. As far as they are concerned, those within it are heretics, apostates, for dealing with the elections, and so they're fair game.

"Mosque bomb injures 20 in Afghanistan: general," from AFP, July 23 (thanks to Twostellas):
KHOST, Afghanistan (AFP) - At least 20 people, including a candidate in upcoming parliamentary elections, were injured Friday when a bomb exploded at a mosque in eastern Afghanistan, a general said.

The blast seriously injured the candidate, Sayedullah Sayed, who was campaigning at the time.

The incident took place in Bahramkhail, a village in Khost province's Ismailkhail district, on the eastern border with Pakistan, said General Nawab Khan, commander of the coordination body for Afghan and NATO forces in Khost.

"Twenty people have been wounded in the bomb blast inside the mosque," Khan told AFP.

He said no one had claimed responsibility for the bombing, but blamed it on "enemies of Afghanistan," a euphemism for the Taliban....

Arrow Jihad du Jour: 47 Iraqs Blown to Bits by Fedayeen

By Waleed Ibrahim and Ahmed Rasheed

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - At least 57 recruits and soldiers were killed and 123 wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up at an army recruitment center in Baghdad on Tuesday, two weeks before the end of the U.S. combat mission in Iraq.

The blast, which tore through a line of recruits, was one of the bloodiest this year and occurred as suspected insurgents also launched an assassination campaign against judges in the Iraqi capital and a volatile province north of Baghdad.

The bloodshed added to tensions that have simmered following an inconclusive election more than five months ago that has yet to produce a new government.

Insurgents have been targeting Iraqi police and soldiers as they prepare to take full responsibility for security on September 1, when the United States ends a 7-1/2 year combat mission.

U.S. troop numbers will be reduced to 50,000 for a training mission before a full withdrawal planned for next year.

"We were lined in a long queue. There were also officers and soldiers. Suddenly an explosion happened. Thank God only my hand was injured," recruit Saleh Aziz told Reuters Television while doctors in al-Karkh hospital treated his wounds.

A total of 57 people died and 123 were wounded in the attack on an army base near Baghdad's central Maidan square, the media office of the Health Ministry said. One Defense Ministry source said the death toll could be as high as 61.

The White House said President Barack Obama condemned the attacks, but the U.S. withdrawal timetable had not changed.

"Our combat mission ends at the end of the month, but we will still have troops there who are helping to support (Iraqi forces) as necessary," spokesman Bill Burton told reporters on Air Force One.

The site of the attack used to be the Defense Ministry under Saddam Hussein, turned into an army recruitment center and military base after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

One army source who declined to be identified said there might have been two suicide bombers, a hallmark of Sunni Islamist al Qaeda and its local affiliates.

"They (the recruits) were gathering in large numbers. They let in 250 recruits at a time," the source said.

In Baghdad and Diyala province, meanwhile, insurgents attacked eight judges with bombs and silenced weapons, killing two of them, a source in the Justice Ministry said.

"These attacks are well orchestrated," the source said. "They are targeting the entire judicial system of the country."

48 murdered in jihad/martyrdom attack outside Iraqi army recruitment center

Ramadan: the month of jihad. "48 killed in suicide attack outside Iraqi army recruitment center," by Mohammed Tawfeeq for CNN, August 17:
Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- At least 48 people were killed and scores were wounded Tuesday when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden vest in central Baghdad as men were queuing up outside an Iraqi army recruitment center, the Interior Ministry said.

At least 129 people were wounded in the blast, which took place in the morning in the Bab al-Moudham commercial area.

The spokesman for the Iraqi military command in the capital, Maj. Gen. Qassim Atta, said Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki ordered a number of officers who were near the attacker to be detained for questioning.

Atta told Al-Iraqiya state television that Tuesday had been the final day of a weeklong recruitment drive and that a large number of recruits had been waiting to sign up when the attack occurred.

Atta said the bomber's vest was stuffed with 30 kilograms (66 pounds) of the plastic explosive C4, TNT and ball bearings.

The attack came amid the country's failure to form a government and the United States' troop drawdown ahead of President Barack Obama's August 31 deadline for ending all combat operations.

The U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq, or UNAMI, condemned the act and expressed concern over continued acts of violence in the country, "including those perpetrated during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan that symbolizes the values of peace, tolerance, generosity and solidarity."...

Arrow Jihad du Jour: 30 Construction Workers Murdered

(RTTNews) - As many as 30 Afghan workers employed in a road construction project in Southern Afghanistan have been killed in an attack by Taliban militants, local officials told media on Friday.
The incident which took place on Thursday in Sangin district of Helmand province also left at least 17 people injured.

Those killed in the attack also included security guards deployed to ensure the safety of the workers. According to local authorities, the bodies of some 12 people killed in the attack were moved to a hospital in Lashkar Gah on Friday.

Meanwhile, in Helmand's nearby Kandahar province the body of an Afghan civilian shot dead by militants was tied to a booby- trapped road sign. According to Nato officials, the explosives were intended to kill anyone trying to extricate the body.

Further Nato officials revealed that a joint US-Afghan taskforce has been targeting a a sub-commander with the Haqqani network. Quite often in the past, the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan has taken extra care to limit the number of civilian deaths during security operations.

The alliance also said the bodies of two Afghan nationals kidnapped by Taliban were handed over to police in Logar province on Thursday.
Afghan officials later identified the bodies as those of Azrah district police chief and another official with the country's security agency.

(And yes, CAIR has spoken out about events outside the U.S. before.) I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. "Algeria: Gunmen fire on crowded mosque," from AKI, September 1:
Algiers, 1 Sept. (AKI) - One person has been killed and at least eight injured when gunmen burst into a mosque during prayers southwest of the Algerian capital of Algiers, local newspaper Ennahar reported.

A large number of people were gathered for Ramadan prayers late on Tuesday when the attackers opened fire on the crowd in the Algerian province of Ain Defla, the report said.

The sheikh guiding the prayers was killed in the incident while some of the wounded were taken to hospital serious condition.

Islamic jihadists murder 18 with suicide bombs at Shi'ite procession

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/09/is...--no-wait.html

You'd think that this sort of thing would lead groups like the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations to be much more concerned with Muslim-on-Muslim jihad violence than with the largely chimerical threat of "Islamophobia." You'd think wrong. "Suicide blasts in Lahore kill 18: Pakistan police," from AFP, September 1:
LAHORE: Three suicide bombers in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore on Wednesday killed 18 people and wounded more than 100 during a Shiite mourning procession, police and rescue officials said.

Pakistan has been hit by a wave of Islamist militant attacks over the past three years which many attribute to Islamabad's alliance with Washington and the US-led war against the Taliban in neighbouring Afghanistan.

The blasts hit exactly at the time of breaking of fast in the ongoing holy month of Ramadan.

"Eighteen people were killed and 143 others wounded in the three suicide attacks," a senior local administration official, Sajjad Bhutta, told AFP....

Arrow Jihad du Jour: 30 Shia Pilgrims Ripped Apart

ISLAMABAD: In the latest wave of terrorist attacks, at least 30 people were killed and 250 injured when three suicide bombs ripped through a Shia procession in Pakistan's cultural city of Lahore.

The explosions hit three separate locations as 45,000 Shias marched in a traditional mourning ceremony for the assassination of Ali, the Prophet Muhammad's cousin, some 1,300 years ago during the month of Ramadan. Shias consider Ali as their first imam.

TV footages showed a small blast amid a procession on the street which was followed by another explosion in close proximity. The first two bombs of small intensity went off near Karbala Gamay Shah Imambargah, just when Muslims across Pakistan broke their fast.

Hundreds of people fled from the blast, while others rushed to the area to carry the wounded to safety. Within half an hour, a third and more powerful bomb exploded at Lahore's Bhatti Chowk at about 7:20 pm. The bomb sites are near the famous Data shrine which too was targeted by terrorists last July, leaving 42 people dead.

Earlier Khusro Pervez, commissioner Lahore, said that 18 bodies had been brought to the morgue while 162 people were injured. He warned the number of dead could rise.

The head of Lahore police, Aslam Tareen, said that at least two of the attacks were suicide bombings. "At least 35 of the people hurt in the blast were critically injured," Tareen said.

Lahore has been the scene of sectarian violence between Sunni and Shia Muslims in recent months.

However, there had been a pause in such attacks in the past month, as floods devastated all provinces of Pakistan.

After the blasts, the marchers erupted in fury and set fire to a police station and burnt a police truck. Other vehicles in the city were also torched.

The police had fired tear gas in an attempt to control the angry mob.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the blasts in a statement and said the attackers would not escape justice.

The latest attacks follow two days of government air raids on militant strongholds in the northwest region.

Pakistani forces killed up to 62 militants, their family members and other civilians with no ties to the fighters, officials said.

Jihad/martyrdom bombers murder two, wound 25 in Tajikistan

First jihad/martyrdom bombing in Tajikistan in five years. The virgins were getting impatient. "Car bomber kills 2, wounds 25 police in Tajikistan," by Roman Kozhevnikov for Reuters, September 3:
DUSHANBE (Reuters) - Suicide car bombers struck a police station in Tajikistan on Friday, officials said, killing two officers and wounding 25 in an attack authorities blamed on a militant group linked to al Qaeda.

Tajikistan's first known suicide bombing in five years would deal a blow to the government of the ex-Soviet republic, where poverty pushes youth towards radical Islam and political rivalries still fester a decade after a civil war.
And yet study after study has shown that jihadists are generally wealthier and better educated than their peers. And if poverty pushes youth towards "radical Islam," where are all those Haitian suicide bombers?
A sedan exploded after entering the courtyard of a regional police anti-organized crime unit headquarters in Khujand, Tajikistan's second largest city, Interior Ministry chief of staff Tokhir Normatov said....

The Interior Ministry said the attack was likely carried out by the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, which aims to establish Islamic rule in ex-Soviet Central Asia and has fought alongside the Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

But longtime President Emomali Rakhmon's government often blames the IMU for attacks, while his critics and rights groups accuse him of using the Islamist threat as an excuse to crack down on dissent in the nation of seven million....

Arrow Nine Children Among the Dead in Fresh Ramadan Suicide Blast

Islamabad: At least 19 people, among them nine school children, were killed and 46 injured on Monday in yet another suicide bombing in Pakistan, this time targeting a police station in Lakki Marwat, a town in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

About 130 people have died in Pakistan in bombings and other terror attacks in several cities in the past week even as the country was trying to recover from unprecedented flooding that affected nearly a fifth of the country and took over 1,600 lives.

A suicide bomber Monday morning reportedly rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into the rear wall of the police station, killing nine policemen. Over 45 police personnel were present inside the police station at the time of the blast.

The police station, situated in a busy shopping area of the town, has been severely damaged. Ten civilians killed in the blast included five boys and four girls who were going to a school nearby.

Lakki Marwat is a frontier town in what was earlier North West Frontier Province that has been renamed Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain confirmed 19 casualties in the blast. 'We can't hide from the terrorists and have to fight with them till the time complete success is achieved,' he said.

The school and several other government buildings were also damaged.

Police confirmed the death of nine policemen in the blast.

'We'll only be able to assess the damage once the debris are removed completely', Gul Wali, a police officer, said.

District coordination officer Ayaz Mandokhel said that 46 people, including 20 policemen, were injured in the blast. '30 injured people have been shifted to Lakki Marwat city hospital while 16 have been sent to Peshawar,' he said.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has ordered an inquiry into the blast while Interior Minister Rehman Malik has sought report from the inspector general of police of the KPK province.

Senior KPK Minister Bashir Bilour condemned the incident and said that 'it will not be able to dent our resolve against terrorists'. 'We are in a state of war and have given a lot of sacrifices,' he said, adding that the government will keep the momentum in the offensive against terrorists.

In the fresh wave of terrorist attacks in Pakistan, 73 people were killed in Quetta city and 35 died in Lahore last week when Shia community processions were targeted.

A suicide blast targeting a jirga (meeting of elders) in Shah Hassan Khel village near Lakki Marwat in January this year had killed over 100 people.

KPK province is central to the 'war on terror' due to its close proximity with tribal areas and Afghanistan.

Pakistan:
Jihadists target residential area of police compound, killing women, children

It's one component of a two-part approach: Jihadists not only routinely target civilians deliberately, but they also make human shields out of the people they claim to protect -- see, for another example, Hizballah's arsenal hidden beneath hospitals, homes, and schools -- in order to score propaganda points and incite others to take "revenge" for manufactured casualties. The double standard, of course, does not bother them at all. All that matters is advancing the jihad.

"Women, kids among 17 dead in NW Pakistani bombing," by Riaz Khan for the Associated Press, September 7:
PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- A car bomb ripped through a police compound in a northwestern Pakistani city, killing 18 people, including 14 women and children and four officers, the latest in a string of attacks proving that Islamist militants remain a potent force in the country.
The civilians killed were the wives and children of police officers, said Khalid Omarzai, the city's top government official. Another 94 people were wounded in Tuesday's bombing, he said, adding that they had been taken to hospitals after rescuers cleared rubble of over two dozen collapsed houses and shops.
The complex in the garrison city of Kohat houses officers' homes, a training facility and a commercial area.
Officer Mohammad Arif said there was a huge explosion in the residential area of the compound soon after the evening breaking of the daily fast during the holy month of Ramadan. Power to the area was cut, forcing emergency workers to search for victims in the dark, he said.
Kohat, the major town on the road between the provincial capital of Peshawar and several tribal areas, has been the scene of several militant attacks this year. In April, two burqa-clad suicide bombers attacked refugees lined up to register for food and other relief supplies in the district, killing 41 people and wounding dozens more.
"This city is a war zone. We would always expect such attacks," said Omarzai, the government official.
The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for a series of recent attacks across the nation aimed at destabilizing the country and weakening a civilian government already struggling with a massive flooding that has displaced millions and caused widespread destruction.
The deadliest have targeted minority Shiite Muslims. A suicide bombing killed at least 65 Shiite Muslims at a procession in the southwestern city of Quetta on Friday. Two days earlier, a triple suicide attack killed 35 people at a Shiite ceremony in the eastern city of Lahore.
On Monday, a Taliban suicide bomber detonated a car in an alley behind a police station in a strategically important town in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least 17 police and civilians in an explosion that shattered the station and neighboring homes.
About 40 people were wounded in the attack in Lakki Marwat, which sits on the main road between Punjab province, Pakistan's largest and most prosperous, and the North and South Waziristan tribal regions.
Meanwhile, two roadside bombs Tuesday killed one police officer and wounded three others in the northwestern district of Hangu, said government official Omarzai.

Arrow Children Among the Dead as Sunnis Bomb Sufi Shrine

KARACHI — Eight worshippers including two children were killed in twin bomb blasts Thursday at a packed Sufi shrine in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi, officials told AFP.

Senior police official Hamid Parhial gave the toll, adding that 65 people were also injured, and said it was a suspected suicide attack.

The bombs exploded Thursday at the entrance of the shrine to Sufi saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi as devotees packed it for a weekly gathering in Karachi's seaside Clifton district.

Provincial home minister Zulfikar Mirza said an investigation into the attack was already underway and the government had decided to seal all shrines in the city immediately over security fears.

"It was a terrorist attack," he said.

The shrine's floor was spattered in blood, said witnesses. Slippers, sandals and flowers brought by devotees to lay at the tomb littered the area.
Witness Gul Mohammad said he was outside the shrine when two huge blasts were heard in quick succession.

"I rushed inside and saw blood and human flesh," he said.

"Some bodies were lying on the ground and several people wounded in the blasts were crying in pain. Then ambulances started arriving and moving the injured to hospitals."

Ambulances with sirens blaring were seen ferrying casualties to hospitals as police and paramilitary soldiers cordoned off the shrine.

Doctor Seemin Jamali of Civil Hospital Karachi said 10 women and seven children with serious injuries were among those admitted.

There was no claim of responsibility for the latest attack but the Pakistani Taliban has been blamed for similar bombings in the past.

More than 3,700 people have been killed in a series of suicide attacks and bomb explosions, many of them carried out by the Taliban and other Al-Qaeda-linked Islamist extremists, in Pakistan during the last three years.
The shrine had received threats in the past and had been previously closed for security reasons after a bomb attack in July at a popular Sufi site in Lahore killed more than 40 people.

Militant Islamists see visits to Sufi shrines and some rituals as un-Islamic and Punjab province's law minister, Rana Sanaullah Khan told Express television: "Taliban have no respect for Sufi shrines, that is why they target these places."

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani "strongly condemned" the latest blasts in a statement and ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident.
"It is yet another heinous act of violence reflecting the deranged minds of terrorists," said Gilani, according to the statement issued by his office.
The United States, which in recent weeks has mounted a string of drone strikes against Islamist militants in northwestern Pakistan that have raised tensions with Islamabad, condemned the attack.

"There's obviously no political justification for killing innocent people, and we strongly condemn any deliberate targeting of civilians," Mark Toner, a State Department spokesman, told reporters.

"While terrorists continue to target innocent Pakistanis, the United States continues to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Pakistan in its struggle against terrorism, as well as its recovery from the floods," he said.

The attack came as Pakistan struggles to deal with massive flooding that has killed nearly 1,800 people and left millions reliant on aid handouts.

Islamic jihadists set off bomb at mosque, killing governor, wounding 35 others

"Blast at mosque kills provincial governor in northern Afghanistan," by Ivan Watson for CNN, October 8:
Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- An anti-insurgent provincial governor who had survived Taliban assassination attempts was among 20 people who died Friday in an explosion at a northern Afghan mosque during prayers, a government official said.

The blast in Afghanistan's Takhar province killed Kunduz provincial governor Mohammad Omar, who recently sounded an alarm about the threat of insurgents during an interview with CNN.

The bombing also wounded 35 others, with most of those killed and injured engaged in prayer, said Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Zamarai Bashari.

"It is a terrible incident," said Bashari, who said police were trying to find out more details about the strike and who is responsible.

The NATO-led command condemned the attack, saying that "it's unconscionable that anyone would attack a mosque."

"It's clear the insurgents have no respect for the most holy of Islamic places," said U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Greg Smith, spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF.

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul deplored the act, saying "whoever was responsible" for striking a house of worship "has demonstrated a clear lack of disregard for the Afghan people and for the peaceful religion they practice."

The mosque was bloodied and its roof was shattered, eyewitness Mujib Rahman said, but there were different early accounts on how the strike was carried out.

Gen. Daoud Daoud, commander of the Afghan Interior Ministry's northern zone, said a suicide attacker apparently sitting next to the governor detonated a bomb.

Faiz Mohammad Powhidi, a Takhar governor spokesman, told CNN that a pre-placed mine exploded. He explained that governor had been visiting his family and attending Friday prayers weekly in his native province of Takhar, which borders Kunduz.

Omar, who was a Pashtun, had survived several assassination attempts by the Taliban, and his brother was slain a few months ago....

Will the Islamophobia never end? "Bomb attack at Pakistani mosque kills two: police," from AFP, October 22:
PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AFP) - A bomb attack at a mosque in Pakistan's city of Peshawar killed two people and wounded 11 others as worshippers filed out after the main Friday Muslim prayers, police said.

The nature of the bomb was not immediately clear, but the northwestern city has been on the front line of attacks blamed on Taliban- and Al-Qaeda-linked militants opposed to the government's alliance with the United States....

Jihad du Jour: Sufi Mosque Blown Up (inc. Worshippers)

http://undhimmi.com/2010/10/25/the-w...ed-by-the-rop/

Another deadly blast at a Karachi Sufi shine – this time at the mausoleum of 12th century saint Hazrat Baba Farid, in the Pakppatan district. Remember – they don’t only hate you – they hate each other too:
Four people have been killed in a bomb blast outside a Sufi shrine in Pakistan’s Punjab province, police say.

The bomb, left on a motorcycle, went off at the gates of the shrine in Pak Pattan.

There have been a number of attacks on Sufi shrines in recent months.
Nine people were killed in two blasts in Karachi earlier this month, and 40 died in an earlier double attack on a Sufi shrine in Lahore in July.

The bomb was left in a milk container on a motorcycle at the shrine in Pak Pattan, 190km (120 miles) south of Lahore, police said.

“The rescue work is over. We’re now investigating,” regional police chief Mohammad Kashif told reporters.

Twelve people are reported injured.

There has been no claim of responsibility, but earlier attacks have been carried out by Taliban militants.

Worshippers at Sufi shrines follow a mystical strain of Islam and have been frequently targeted by Islamic militants in Pakistan.

As we’ve pointed out often in the past- and despite what the Muslim talking heads in the media and the credulous, useful idiot journalists that report these things would have you believe – Islam is assuredly not a religion of peace.

Although not all Muslims are violent, the doctrine itself is steeped in blood and was created through conquest – facts which which today manifest themselves not only in acts of terrorism against non-Muslims and barbaric violence against those Muslims deemed to have transgressed the laws of Islam (more often than not women), but in frequent internecine conflict too.

When they aren’t busy trying to blow you and I up, they inevitably turn on each other.
