Exclamation Pakistan: Christian sisters kidnapped, forced to marry a wealthy Muslim

Pakistan: Christian sisters kidnapped, forced to marry a wealthy Muslim

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/05/pa...hy-muslim.html

"And the government, said Father John, 'is complicit.'" He says that "the kidnapping of young women has become 'common practice', because the authorities and police are 'puppets in the hands of extremists.'"

"Faisalabad: Christian sisters kidnapped, forced to marry a wealthy Muslim," by Jibran Khan in Asia News, May 27:
Faisalabad (AsiaNews) - A powerful Muslim businessman, with the help of a group of accomplices, kidnapped two Christian sisters, forced them to convert to Islam and marry him. The girl's father reported the kidnapping to the police but the police blocked investigations by reversing the facts: the daughters fled because of their father’s violence. A priest from the diocese of Faisalabad points out that the kidnapping of young women has become "common practice", because the authorities and police are "puppets in the hands of extremists."

The father of two girls, Rehmat Masih is a Christian carpenter from Jhung District, in Faisalabad, Punjab province, an arena of repeated violence against religious minority. Muhammad Waseem - the parent explains to AsiaNews, - is a Muslim businessman in the area, long time leader of a banned extremist group. A few weeks ago he came to my house, along with gunmen, saying he was concerned about my daughters and wanted to marry them. " In case of refusal, the man continues, the Muslim businessman threatened to abduct the two girls.

Masih filed a complaint with the police, but authorities did not want to open an investigation. On May 24 the dramatic epilogue, "My daughters were returning from the market - he says - and a vehicle owned by Muhammad Waseem intercepted them and threw them inside, taking them away." The parent returned to the police to report the kidnapping. In response, officials said that "Waseem is a respected and admired businessman, the accusations against him are" false. "The authorities say the girls would fled because their father is an alcoholic who had "abused" them with "immoral actions."

A neighbour argues the defence of the Christian father, emphasizing his goodness and integrity. "I've known Rehmat for 20 years - Shahid Malik told AsiaNews – he is a decent man. I have never heard words out of place out of his mouth. " On the contrary, Muhammad Waseem is an influential man and we have seen him repeatedly threaten the Masih family. The police, he adds, are reversing the facts because "he can not do anything against Waseem, which is collusion."
The next day, May 25, Muhammad Waseem married by force Saima Masih, in the presence of Mullah Muhammad Qasim Zubair. With the ceremony, according to Islamic laws, the Christian woman was "converted" and has embraced the Muslim faith. Local sources also make clear that the religious leader who officiated the ceremony is linked to outlawed Islamist groups (-e-Sahaba Sipe), protagonists of numerous kidnappings of Hindu or Christian women.

Rehmat Masih is desperate: the police asked him to forget his daughters, leaving him indefenseless. "Instead of serving the Punjab government - says the father - [the police] are the servants of extremist groups."

Fr. John William, a priest of the diocese of Faisalabad, confirms that the kidnapping of young women has become "common practice", because the authorities and police are "puppets in the hands of extremists." In recent days, AsiaNews reported the tragedy of another young girl, again from Punjab, seized by force and forced to marry a Muslim (see AsiaNews, 12/05/2011 Punjab: Christian student nurse forced to convert to marry Muslim man).

Christian and Hindu girls, the priest continues, are forced to marry Muslims and convert to Islam, while police and local authorities "are paid" to settle the bureaucracy to avoid reports. The officials are in the hands of extremists and religious leaders in Friday sermons "speak openly of killing and kidnapping Christian girls." And the government, said Father John, "is complicit."

Arrow Women- Want to Avoid Sex Pests? Stay At Home, Says Turkish Mayor

Women- Want to Avoid Sex Pests? Stay At Home, Says Turkish Mayor

Sagacious, um, advice to women on Muslim sexual harassment, widespread in Turkey:

Women complaining about sexual harassment on the streets of the eastern province of Muş should deal with the problem by simply staying at home, the province’s mayor has said.

“Do not walk around, sit in your homes,” 71-year-old Justice and Development Party, or AKP, Turkish Mayor Necmittin Dede recently told Muş representatives of the Women’s Center, or KAMER, when they told authorities that high employment in the city had resulted in men spilling out of the overcrowded teahouses in the area to verbally harass female passersby.

KAMER representatives said they had enjoyed success in cooperating with local police on women’s issues, but added that public institutions, such as the one led by the mayor, remained indifferent to their cause.

“We have appealed to the authorities time and time again, yet they do not allow us into the schools to conduct training sessions about women. So we visit households instead. We conducted surveys in 700 households until now that show the rate of domestic violence stands around 70 percent,” said Necmiye Boz of KAMER.

Muş municipality does maintain a women’s shelter in the area – although the building is prominently identified by a large sign, allowing potential attackers to find women seeking refuge in the building.

A total of six honor killings have been committed in the province over the past two months although some of the deaths have been passed off as suicides, according to Boz and another KAMER representative, Ayşegül Söylemez.

In previous comments, Dede said, “If women were man enough, they would have become prophets.”

Among state authorities, local police have led the way in trying to combat domestic violence, releasing preparing a report titled “Survey Report on Cases of Domestic Violence.” Law enforcement officers have also rented billboards to create awareness about the problems facing women. One such billboard features the portrait of a happy family, with text underneath saying, “Not everything is what it seems.”

KAMER was officially founded in 1997 and continued to grow and strengthen itself in the following years. At the moment, the group is trying to expand its activities in 23 provinces of eastern and southeastern Anatolia to more districts, villages and remote areas.

Since 1984, thousands of women have joined the group, which advocates for and extends aid to victims who face attack, arrest, torture and even death around Turkey.

The group also aims to provide analysis on the people who are convicted of beating, stabbing or raping women.

In the most convoluted and perverse sense, perhaps the Turkish Mayor Mr. Dede is right. In 2002, the year the Islamist AK Party came to power, the number of female deaths in what could be attributed to ‘domestic violence’ was 66.

In the first seven months of 2009 (the most recent statistics), a total of 953 women were slaughtered.

That’s a 1400% increase since the AKP came to power. We feel no further comment is necessary.

Arrow Exasperated Saudi Women Plea for Sexual Harassment Helpline...

Exasperated Saudi Women Plea for Sexual Harassment Helpline
Allah made them do it:
JEDDAH: Women in the Kingdom, fatigued by repeated cases of Saudi sexual harassment, are calling for a help line number.

Nawal Bukhari, 45, called for more security measures on behalf of all her Muslim sisters, saying it is imperative the law derives a method to protect women in emergencies.

Nawal and her daughter Madiha, who were on Sari Street in Jeddah on a recent weekend, told Arab News they were followed, chased, and profusely invited to sit in the cars of men, asking for their phone numbers for almost an hour.

“There is no barrier, every age and class of men who were there that night — maybe doing it for a thrill — asked us for our numbers and even opened doors to their cars for us to sit with them,” said Nawal. “It scares me to think how our sisters deal with this situation. I was scared, helpless and the worst fear was that I could not protect my daughter if something happened.”

Nawal says her husband was out of the country at the time, and because she uses taxis to get around she faces harassment on the street frequently and has never been able to call for help.

“Who do I call? It is not a crime, what these men do, so it would be an awkward situation calling 999,” she said. “But in the Kingdom, for women this is a real emergency situation. I barely see police cars patrolling an area looking out to help in these situations.”

Describing what happened that weekend, Nawal said that even after she and her daughter waved down a taxi, ill-mannered men temporarily blocked the car from moving, telling the cab driver they would give them rides. Before they could enter the cab, the driver became scared.

“This taxi driver locked the doors and did not let us in. Instead he sped off,” she said.

Nawal had to call a friend with a driver to pick them up. And even then five cars of men were trying to block them from crossing the road to enter the vehicle. The incident — which occurred at night — left her afraid to go out on her own for weeks.

“Women are esteemed and highly respected in Islam, contrary to current state of affairs,” she added. “Would these men be okay with this if it happened to their mothers and sisters?”

Marwa Nasser, 21, said the prevalence of sexual harassment in her day-to-day life needs to end.

“This passé attitude toward the harassment of women, and passing it off as nothing, is ridiculous. It is about time they enforce the law that is there to protect us.”

Marwa described one incident in a mall with her friends when several young men were following them, insisting on getting their phone numbers. An onlooker took a “blame the victim” mentality.

“This passerby just glared at us and murmured, ‘you girls deserve this for roaming around without a mahram (male guardian).’ I didn’t know with whom I was more furious with: the men chasing us or this man who could not help the situation and instead lashed out at us.”

Marwa stated a lot of her friends have faced similar and even intense situations and have had no one to help them.

“Someone to call for help or to simply assist you out of this situation would help us,” she said. “It is about time men on the street realize we are not chattel they can use or abuse whenever they like. They should be made to understand by the authorities that they cannot get away with this.”

Women here say they feel caught between the lecherous behavior of some men and the self-righteousness of others when it comes to how they dress.

Maha Hamran, 25, recalled an incident at Riyadh’s King Khaled International Airport where a group of men “pretending to be religious” sneered at her and her friends.

“Even though we were in abaya with our hair covered, one of them demanded with a look of disgust: ‘Cover your face.’ I just told him I would do no such thing and that he should take his Taleban approach elsewhere.”

Maha said fanatical approaches like this tarnish the face of moderate Islam [Wha' dat? - Ed] , that men who fixate on women who don’t cover from head-to-toe only reflects poorly on what they are thinking.

“Firstly, why are you looking at me and my lady friends? It is lecherous and demeaning, especially if you come up to me and talk about it. And, if you have a problem, then look away.”

In the Muslim world, levels of public sexual harassment are extremely high. Higher incidences of rape, incest and open street harassment (often dismissed as ‘Eve Teasing’), combined with the low status accorded to women in Islamic societies, affirms and reinforces a boorish sense of ‘entitlement’ from males of all ages.

But it’s not just Muslimas who are at risk. Whether you are a Muslim or non-Muslim, sexual harrassment is a major risk. The vicious sexual assault by Egyptian men of US reporter Lara Logan in the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ protests in Cairo in February is just one high-profile example.

(As an aside, we think these protests provide further evidence that the unrest in several Middle Eastern signifies anything but the renaissance the ‘Arab Spring’ epithet, so beloved of and overused by Western journalists, implies; and Logan’s assault only sever to underline this).

Ask any woman, native or foreign visitor to places such as Egypt and Turkey how they feel when walking in crowded places in these countries and you will here the same complaints time and again.
And it isn’t us saying this. Muslim women themselves are beginning to speak out, too.

Just one more of the many ‘benefits’ the Religion of Peace™ bestows on the world.

Ukraine: Muslim girl stoned to death for participating in beauty contest

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/05/uk...y-contest.html

The fact that this was an extrajudicial killing doesn't let Sharia off the hook. The fact that stoning is prescribed for adultery (as often as apologists might also try to deny it for non-Muslim consumption), where the murderers in this case apparently decided for themselves her actions were tantamount to adultery, doesn't let Sharia off the hook, either.

No, the simple fact that this punishment exists in Islamic law, and Muhammad himself participated in it, means Sharia's inherent defects where human rights are concerned have a direct bearing on this case. So does the broader sense that originates in Qur'an 4:34 that violence is an acceptable recourse against "disobedient" women.

The murderers' consciences were informed by these ideas, hence the lack of regret expressed below. "Muslim girl, 19, 'stoned to death after taking taking part in beauty contest'," by Will Stewart for the Daily Mail, May 30:
A teenage Muslim girl was stoned to death under 'Sharia law' after taking part in a beauty contest in Ukraine.
Katya Koren, 19, was found dead in a village in the Crimea region near her home.
Friends said she liked wearing fashionable clothes and had come seventh in a beauty contest. Her battered body was buried in a forest and was found a week after she disappeared.
Police have opened a murder probe and are investigating claims that three Muslim youths killed her claiming her death was justified under Islam.
One of the three - named as 16-year-old Bihal Gaziev - is under arrest and told police she had 'violated the laws of Sharia'.
Gaziev said he had no regrets about her death because she had violated the laws of Islam.

Recently, she decided to participate in a local beauty contest. She placed seventh. But her passion for fashion may have led to her death. Shortly after the pageant, Koren went missing. Now, a young man has apparently admitted to police that he killed Koren under Shariah Law.
The Daily Mail reports she was stoned to death:
Her battered body was buried in a forest and was found a week after she disappeared.

Egypt Military Admits 'Virginity Tests' on Female Protesters
Cairo (CNN) -- A senior Egyptian general admits that "virginity checks" were performed on women arrested at a demonstration this spring, the first such admission after previous denials by military authorities.

The allegations arose in an Amnesty International report, published weeks after the March 9 protest. It claimed female demonstrators were beaten, given electric shocks, strip-searched, threatened with prostitution charges and forced to submit to virginity checks.

At that time, Maj. Amr Imam said 17 women had been arrested but denied allegations of torture or "virginity tests."

But now a senior general who asked not to be identified said the virginity tests were conducted and defended the practice.

"The girls who were detained were not like your daughter or mine," the general said. "These were girls who had camped out in tents with male protesters in Tahrir Square, and we found in the tents Molotov cocktails and (drugs)."

The general said the virginity checks were done so that the women wouldn't later claim they had been raped by Egyptian authorities.

"We didn't want them to say we had sexually assaulted or raped them, so we wanted to prove that they weren't virgins in the first place," the general said. "None of them were (virgins)."

This demonstration occurred nearly a month after Egypt's longtime President Hosni Mubarak stepped down amid a wave of popular and mostly peaceful unrest aimed at his ouster and the institution of democratic reforms.

Afterward, Egypt's military -- which had largely stayed on the sidelines of the revolution -- officially took control of the nation's political apparatus as well, until an agreed-upon constitution and elections.

The March 9 protest occurred in Tahrir Square, which became famous over 18 historic and sometimes bloody days and nights of protests that led to Mubarak's resignation.

But unlike in those previous demonstrations, the Egyptian military targeted the protesters. Soldiers dragged dozens of demonstrators from the square and through the gates of the landmark Egyptian Museum.

Salwa Hosseini, a 20-year-old hairdresser and one of the women named in the Amnesty report, described to CNN how uniformed soldiers tied her up on the museum's grounds, forced her to the ground and slapped her, then shocked her with a stun gun while calling her a prostitute.

"They wanted to teach us a lesson," Hosseini said soon after the Amnesty report came out. "They wanted to make us feel that we do not have dignity."

The treatment got worse, Hosseini said, when she and the 16 other female prisoners were taken to a military detention center in Heikstep.
There, she said, she and several of other female detainees were subjected to a "virginity test."

"We did not agree for a male doctor to perform the test," she said. But Hosseini said her captors forced her to comply by threatening her with more stun-gun shocks.

"I was going through a nervous breakdown at that moment," she recalled. "There was no one standing during the test, except for a woman and the male doctor. But several soldiers were standing behind us watching the backside of the bed. I think they had them standing there as witnesses."

The senior Egyptian general said the 149 people detained after the March 9 protest were subsequently tried in military courts, and most have been sentenced to a year in prison
.
Authorities later revoked those sentences "when we discovered that some of the detainees had university degrees, so we decided to give them a second chance," he said.

The senior general reaffirmed that the military council was determined to make Egypt's democratic transition a success.

"The date for handover to a civil government can't come soon enough for the ruling military council," he said. "The army can't wait to return to its barracks and do what it does best -- protect the nation's borders."

Katya Koren's murder by stoning is perfectly legitimate under Islamic law as the perp has rightly said. There might be some justice served since the crime was in Ukraine, had it been in KSA or Pak etc, this would be impossible and the accused would be lauded for taking the "honourable" course of action.

Kuwaiti MP Calls for Legalized Sex Slavery to Curb Adultery

http://www.kuwaittimes.net/read_news...NzQ3NzY0MzE%3D

KUWAIT: A female political activist and former parliamentary candidate has recommended the introduction of legislation to legalize the provision of enslaved female concubines for Muslim men in Kuwait in a bid, she says, to protect those men from committing adultery or corruption.

The activist, Salwa Al-Mutairi, suggested apparently seriously in a video broadcast online that she had been informed by some clerics that affluent Muslim men who fear being seduced or tempted into immoral behavior by the beauty of their female servants, or even of those servants 'casting spells' on them, would be better to purchase women from an 'enslaved maid' agency for sexual purposes.

She suggested that special offices could be set up to provide concubines in the same way as domestic staff recruitment agencies currently provide housemaids.

We want our youth to be protected from adultery," said Al-Mutairi, suggesting that these maids could be brought as prisoners of war in war-stricken nations like Chechnya to be sold on later to devout merchants.

This is not religiously forbidden," she added, indicating that Caliph Haroun Al-Rashid (766-809 AD) was married to one woman but possessed 200 concubines.

Woman sold multiple times by stepbrother

RAHIM YAR KHAN:
A man attempted to sell his step sister for the third time in Ameenabad on Saturday.

According to police officials, Azam sold his stepsister multiple times and had threatened her life. Moza Malkani resident Maqsood Bibis aid that after the death of her father Khuda Buksh five years ago her step brother Azam and his cousins Abbas and Iqbal had forcefully seized her property and sold her to work in a wine distillery.

“My father left me his property in his will. Azam’s mother died several years ago and he and his sister kept trying to get me to sign over the papers to them. They eventually seized the property by force and destroyed the will,” Maqsood Bibi said. “He sold me for Rs10,000 to a bootlegger, who made me work in a wine distillery for nearly a year. The illegal factory was located in the basement of his house and five other women had also been bought from other villages to brew wine,” she told reporters. Maqsood Bibi said she was sold on the central chowk after midnight to Nadir Shaheed. “I escaped from there after nine months but his men caught me and brought me back to him,” she said.

Maqsood Bibi said that she was locked up in a room for several weeks by Azam and then sold off to Hakim Abdul Qadir for the price of two buffaloes. “He forced me to marry the man and I had to sign the documents at gunpoint. He sold me for two buffaloes,” she told police officials. Maqsood Bibi said that her husband Qadir frequently beat her and made her work in his fields all day. “I finally managed to escape from Qadir two months ago but within a week of my having fled Abbas and Iqbal found me. They brought me back to Azam and he was planning to sell me a third time,” she said.

Maqsood Bibi’s neighbour Rehana said that she had knew of her situation. “I never knew the details but I did know that her step brother had recently sold her for two cows. When she came back she was terribly scared and I called her uncles and told them about the situation,” she said.

Maqsood Bibi’s paternal uncles’ Rasool Buksh and Allah Buksh arrived in Moza Molkani last week and approached police to register a case against Azam. “We didn’t know about what was happening to our niece after our brother’s death. These men have taken her property and we are resolved to get it back,” they said during a press conference on Saturday.

Allah Buksh filed an application with the local court in this regard.

Maqsood Bibi, Rasool Bukhsh and Allah Bukhsh came to press club on Saturday afternoon and said that they had registered a case against Azam and his aides Abbas and Iqbal.

“These men were trying to sell me for a third time and have seized all my property. They have taken over my father’s house and are threatening my life,” Maqsood Bibi told the press.

“Abbas and Iqbal have previously been jailed on murder charges and Azam also has a criminal record,” said Malkani Police station Superintendent Liaqat Gondal. “We have registered a case against the accused and are beginning proceedings. We are also searching for both men that purchased Maqsood Bibi,” he added.

Maqsood Bibi is currently living with her uncles’ Rasool and Allah Buksh and has been provided police protection until the court hearing.

Arrow Muslim Woman Seeks to Revive Institution of Sex-Slavery

How else would one keep Muslim men from committing adultery?
by Raymond Ibrahim

Last week witnessed popular Muslim preacher Abu Ishaq al-Huwaini boast about how Islam allows Muslims to buy and sell conquered infidel women, so that “When I want a sex-slave, I go to the market and pick whichever female I desire and buy her.”

This week’s depraved anachronism comes from a Muslim woman—Salwa al-Mutairi, a political activist and former parliamentary candidate for Kuwait’s government, no less: She, too, seeks to “revive the institution of sex-slavery.”

A brief English report appeared over the weekend in the Kuwait Times (nothing, of course, in the MSM):
Muslim men who fear being seduced or tempted into immoral behavior by the beauty of their female servants, or even of those servants “casting spells” on them, would be better to purchase women from an “enslaved maid” agency for sexual purposes. She [Mutairi] suggested that special offices could be set up to provide concubines in the same way as domestic staff recruitment agencies currently provide housemaids. “We want our youth to be protected from adultery,” said al-Mutairi, suggesting that these maids could be brought as prisoners of war in war-stricken nations like Chechnya to be sold on later to devout merchants.
The Arabic news website, Al Arabiya, has the sordid details, including a video of Mutairi addressing this topic. I summarize and translate various excerpts below (note: I am not making any of this up):

The Kuwaiti female activist begins by insisting that “it’s of course true” that “the prophet of Islam legitimized sex-slavery.” She recounts how when she was in Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, she asked various sheikhs and muftis (learned, authoritative Muslims) about the legality of sex-slavery according to Sharia: they all confirmed it to be perfectly legal; Kuwaiti ulema further pointed out that extra “virile” men—Western synonyms include “sex-crazed,” “lecherous,” “perverted”—would do well to purchase sex-slaves to sate their appetites without sinning.

Here’s a particularly interesting excerpt from her taped speech on the rules governing sex-slaves:
A Muslim state must [first] attack a Christian state—sorry, I mean any non-Muslim state—and they [the women, the future sex-slaves] must be captives of the raid. Is this forbidden? Not at all; according to Islam, sex slaves are not at all forbidden. Quite the contrary, the rules regulating sex-slaves differ from those for free women [i.e., Muslim women]: the latter’s body must be covered entirely, except for her face and hands, whereas the sex-slave is kept naked from the bellybutton on up—she is different from the free woman; the free woman has to be married properly to her husband, but the sex-slave—he just buys her and that’s that.
She went on to offer concrete suggestions: “For example, in the Chechnyan war, surely there are female Russian captives. So go and buy those and sell them here in Kuwait; better that than have our men engage in forbidden sexual relations. I don’t see any problem in this, no problem at all.”

Mutairi suggests the enslaved girls be at least 15 years-old.

She further justified the institution of sex-slavery by evoking 8th century caliph, Harun Rashid—a name some may recall from Arabian Nights bedtime stories; a name some may be surprised to discover politically active Muslims modeling their lives after:

“And the greatest example we have is Harun al-Rashid: when he died, he had 2,000 sex slaves—so it’s okay, nothing wrong with it.”

Mutairi’s rationale is ultimately guided by a sense of efficiency, a desire for the good of society: legalizing sex-slaves helps prevent Muslim men from transgressing Allah’s laws (as we have seen, extramarital relations with fellow Muslim women is strictly forbidden, but not with infidel sex-slaves, since they are scarcely considered human). Thus, the institution of sex-slavery provides a convenient, Sharia-compliant way of satiating the libidinous urges of Muslim men.

The Kuwaiti activist’s blunt approach also has universal parallels. For example, in the West, some seek to legalize marijuana, arguing that, since people use it anyway, let it be made compliant with the law. In the Muslim world, we have those who seek to legalize sex-slavery, arguing that, since Muslim men will use women anyway, let it be made compliant with Sharia law.

Such are the inevitable differences between the Western mindset (based on reason and universal rights) and the Sharia mindset (based on the life of a 7th century Arabian caravan-raider and slave-trader).

Mutairi concluded by piously supplicating Allah: “Oh I truly wish this for Kuwait, Allah willing—Oh Lord, Lord, you are bountiful…”

While she waits, Mutairi can take solace in the fact that, if sex-slavery is not institutionalized in Kuwait, it thrives underground throughout the Muslim world, where non-Muslim girls—mostly Christians—are routinely abducted, enslaved, and forced into lives of unspeakable degradation.

After all, just because a practice is not formally institutionalized does not mean that those who deem it their divine right are not practicing it.

MP Wants Russian Women Captured and Sold in Kuwait

A woman politician from Kuwait has sparked anger and disbelief by calling for legalization of sex slaves, saying it would protect men from adultery, and suggesting that female prisoners from war-torn countries should be purchased for the same, as it would be a "better life" for them, and they would not die of starvation.

Salwa al Mutairi, who once ran for parliament, argued buying a sex slave would protect decent, devout and ''virile'' Kuwaiti men from adultery or being seduced by other women''s beauty because an imported sex partner would be tantamount to marriage, reports the Daily Mail.

"There was no shame in it and it is not haram'' (forbidden) under Islamic Sharia law," Mutairi claimed.

To justify her claim, she cites an 8th century Muslim leader Haroun al-Rashid, who is rumoured to have had 2,000 mistresses.

Mutairi recommended that offices could be opened to run the sex trade in the same way that recruitment agencies provide housemaids.

"For example, in the Chechnyan war, surely there are female Russian captives," she said.

"So go and buy those and sell them here in Kuwait. Better than to have our men engage in forbidden sexual relations."

Mutairi said that during a recent visit to Mecca, she asked Saudi muftis - Muslim religious scholars - what the Islamic ruling was on owning sex slaves. They are said to have told her that it is not haram.

The ruling was confirmed by ''specialized people of the faith'' in Kuwait, she claimed.

In an attempt to consider the woman''s feelings in the arrangement, Mutari conceded that the enslaved women, however, should be at least 15.

Her remarks, made in a video posted on YouTube last month and carried by newspapers in the Gulf states in recent days, have sparked outrage in cyber-space from fellow Kuwaitis and others in the wider region.

''Wonder how Salwa al Mutairi would've felt if during the occupation (of Kuwait) by Iraqi forces, she was sold as 'war booty' as she advocates for Chechen women,'' tweeted Mona Eltahawy.

ICC: Gaddafi Ordered Mass Rape as a Weapon

The International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor has said that Libyan leader Muammer Gaddafi ordered mass rapes and bought containers of sex drugs for troops to attack women

Luis Moreno-Ocampo said he may ask for a new charge of mass rape to be made against Gaddafi following the new evidence.

The chief International Criminal Court prosecutor is expecting a decision from judges within days on his request for crimes against humanity charges against the Libyan leader.

"Now we are getting some information that Gaddafi himself decided to rape, and this is new," Mr Moreno-Ocampo said.

He said there were reports of hundreds of women attacked in some areas of Libya, which is in the grip of a months-long internal rebellion.

Mr Moreno-Ocampo said there was evidence that the Libyan authorities bought "Viagra-type" medicines and gave them to troops as part of the official rape policy.

"They were buying containers to enhance the possibility to rape women," he said.

"We had doubts at the beginning but now we are more convinced that he decided to punish using rapes," the prosecutor said.

He told reporters at the UN in New York that he had collected evidence suggesting the Libyan leader had decided to punish women by using rape as a weapon in the hope that it would instil fear and curb dissent.

In March, a Libyan woman, Eman al-Obeidi, made headlines around the world after she burst into a Tripoli hotel and said she had been raped by Gaddafi's troops. She is recovering at a refugee centre in Romania.

"It was very bad – beyond the limits, I would say," Mr Moreno-Ocampo added.

Exclamation Islamic Republic of Sudan Troops Go on Rape Spree

Islamic Republic of Sudan Troops Go on Rape Spree

KHARTOUM — The UN human rights envoy for Sudan on Wednesday highlighted reports of rape in Abyei after the army's occupation last month and criticised Khartoum for failing to provide essential aid to newly displaced Darfuris since January.

"I received allegations of killings, rape and other forms of inhuman and degrading treatment during and subsequent to the attack" on Abyei, Mohamed Chande Othman told a news conference in Khartoum at the end of an eight-day visit.

He urged the government to grant the UN Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) unqualified access to Abyei town to verify the claims, and to conduct its own comprehensive investigation of events there.

Northern troops and tanks overran the contested border district on May 21 in response to a deadly attack two days earlier on an army convoy to the north of Abyei town, in which at least 22 northern troops were killed.
Little is known about the extent of the violence, due to restricted access, although around 100,000 people are now thought to have fled the region, and this week UNMIS reported continued looting in the Abyei area, despite the army's assurances they would stop it.

On Tuesday, army spokesman Sawarmi Khaled Saad strongly criticised the UNMIS report.

Chande also complained of "strictly limited" humanitarian access to camps for those fleeing the violence in Darfur and expressed concern about continuing fighting between government forces and armed groups, especially in Jebel Marra, the region's fertile central plateau.

"IDPs (internally displaced persons) in Nyala... informed me that the newly displaced have not received aid, in the form of food, medical aid and shelter, since January," Chande said, adding that the "escalation of hostilities" in western Jebel Marra and in North Darfur was also affecting aid access.

It was Chande's third visit since his appointment as independent human rights envoy for Sudan in 2009, and he said it was the government's policy "not to favour an extension of the mandate."

He said he was "disappointed" to have his request to meet the national security chief turned down, for the second time in a row, after a similar request was blocked during his trip in March.

The UN rights envoy said he had received numerous reports of people being held for long periods without access to legal representation, and urged the government "to release all detained persons or try them with a recognisable offence."

He also highlighted serious concerns about the fighting between the army and the rebel militias in the south, where so far this year more than 1,500 people have been killed in violence, according to the United Nations.

"I continue to receive reports of human rights abuses with the most frequent and worst abuses perpetrated by the police and security forces of south Sudan," Chande said.

He urged the Juba government to take concrete measures to address "widespread impunity" ahead of the region's independence from the north next month.

Graphic Vid Allegedly Shows Coptic Christian Girl Being Sexualy Assaulted in Order To ‘Islamize Her’

June 9, 2011
by Jonathon M. Seidl

The content warning above may say it all. Below, you are about to see a group of alleged Muslim men sexually abusing a Coptic Christian girl recently in Egypt. And it’s not strictly for pleasure. The embarrassing episode is supposedly part of a larger plot to shame and blackmail the woman into marrying a Muslim man and converting to Islam. It’s apparently a growing practice in the region.

The video’s description explains the disturbing event in detail. According to that description, the video was posted on a Coptic website along with an explanation in Arabic. The video’s producer then had it translated and posted a summary in English:
(1) The video was received by a group calling itself “Free Copts”. It shows an incident in which a Coptic Christian girl was sexually abused in an attempt to Islamize her. She belonged to a large and wealthy family of Christian Copts living in Minia in upper Egypt. One of her Muslim neighbours induced her to go to his house. Upon arriving there she was surprised to find a group of young Muslim males. They forced her to go with them to a nearby house. They threatened to kill her if she made any noise or cried for help. They forcibly took her clothes from her and videoed her completely naked next to one of the young men. The plan was to blackmail her into marrying him by informing her and her family that the tape would be made public unless she did so. They also threatened her with the same fate as had befallen another girl not far away, a girl who had been raped by 8 Muslim men, murdered, and had her body dumped in a nearby graveyard. The police and the prosecuting authority let those 8 men go free. The ringleader of the men in this video was supposed to receive a reward of 30,000 Egyptian pounds from a mosque in El Manya if they managed to get the girl to convert to Islam. The four men in the video are habitual criminals who constantly rob the shops and businesses of the Christian Copts.

(2) The girl eventually escaped back to her family. The men then tried to extort money from them.

(3) This is one of the methods Muslims are using to Islamize Egypt — they kidnap young Christian girls, rape them, force them to convert to Islam. Sometimes they are forced to marry old Muslim men who keep them as hostages for their sexual gratification and kill them when they are of no further use.

CONTENT WARNING: this story contains graphic images that may be disturbing to some. While the woman’s nudity has been blacked out and then men are not shown performing sex acts, the subject matter and some of the footage is still unsettling.

Exclamation Nepali women victims of prostitution and slavery in Muslim countries

Nepali women victims of prostitution and slavery in Muslim countries

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/06/ne...countries.html

Might this have to do with the belief that Muhammad legitimized sex slavery for infidel women?

'Nepali women victims of prostitution and slavery in Arab countries," by Kalpit Parajuli for AsiaNews, June 9):
Kathmandu (AsiaNews) - Hundreds of Nepalese women who emigrate to Arab countries in search of better jobs and wages, are unaccounted for. According to husbands and relatives they become victims of prostitution and slavery. The migrants who manage to return, show signs of physical exhaustion, injuries, psychological damage and are often infected with AIDS. To resolve this tragic situation, the Government of Nepal wants to block migration to Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan where most cases are registered. In 2010, 242 women emigrated for work and were never heard of again....

According to Maiti Nepal, an association against the trafficking of women, alleged disappearance are still rising. In eight years we have gone from three cases in 2002 to 242 in 2010. The growth is mainly due to increased migration to the Arab countries that attract women aged 25 to 35 years with jobs as nurses, domestic helpers and caregivers. However, many of them are sold as prostitutes in brothels or are employed in private homes as domestic servants-slaves and subjected to constant abuse by employers.

Exclamation 'Uphill Battle' against Kidnapping, Rape and Forced Conversion of Christian & Hindu G

'Uphill Battle' against Kidnapping, Rape and Forced Conversion of Christian & Hindu Girls (Pak.)

By Jeremy Reynalds

LAHORE-- In Pakistan forced conversions to Islam, rapes and forced marriages are on the rise.

According to a story by Agenzia Fides (the information service of the Pontifical Mission Societies), the victims are mostly Hindu and Christian girls, belonging to religious minorities. The information came from Fides' local sources.

Fides said this has been a worrying phenomenon for the Church in Pakistan for some time, and one that the Church is trying to address. It is looking for institutional cooperation, but the process is an uphill battle.

"The Christian girls are the weakest and most vulnerable, because their communities are poor, defenseless and marginalized, therefore easily exposed to harassment and threats. Often they do not even have the courage to denounce the violence," a sister told Fides.

The sister hides and assists the girls who have managed to escape, Fides said.

The sister said, "But the trend is worrying: There are hundreds of cases a year registered and those that come to light are only a fraction."

Fides said in a society that tolerates discrimination of religious minorities, especially of women, the dominant religion and related social position are used to impose tyranny.

A report sent to Fides by the Center for Legal Assistance and Settlement (CLAAS), which takes care of legal assistance for Christians who are discriminated against and persecuted in Pakistan, confirmed this issue. It reported a number of troubling situations, occurring mainly in the province of Punjab.

Fides said Sidra Bibi, a 14-year-old Christian in the district of Sheikhupura in Punjab, is the daughter of a worker in the cotton industry. A Muslim from the village had his eye on her and began to molest her. He eventually abducted and raped her, before threatening her with death.

Physically and psychologically abused, the girl became pregnant.

Fides said she managed to escape from her captor, and is now back with her family. Police have refused to accept her complaint, Fides said, and now CLAAS lawyers are handling the case.

Fides said Tina Barkat, a 28-year-old-Christian, was approached by a Muslim friend who, after being friends with her for several months, asked her to convert to Islam. Her family began to read her verses of the Koran, kidnaped and threatened her, and then gave her in marriage to a Muslim family member. Her attorneys have filed a motion to dissolve the marriage.

Fides said a similar situation has occurred to Samina Ayub, a 17-year-old Christian, who lives with her family near Lahore. Kidnaped by a Muslim, she was forcibly converted to Islam, renamed Fatima Bibi, and forced to marry in the Muslim tradition.

Fides said her family reported the abduction, but police have not prosecuted those responsible. The case remains unsolved, and her family is asking for help from everyone interested in saving Samina.

Fides said Shazia Bibi, a 19-year-old Christian from Gujranwala, in Punjab, worked as a maid in the house of a Muslim woman, the owner of a grocery store. The Muslim boy from the store was in love with Shazia. In collaboration with the owner, they held a "conversion" and forced her into marriage. Fides said the plan was successful, but now as a result of intervention from Shazia's family the case has ended up in court.

In addition, Fides said, two other Christian girls, Uzma Bibi, 15, and from Gulberg, and Saira Bibi, 20, a nurse from Lahore, were abducted by Muslim neighbors, converted to Islam and then forced to marry in an Islamic ceremony.

Fides said the horrified families of the girls have reclaimed their daughters, and the cases are currently before the High Court of Lahore, represented by lawyers provided by CLAAS.

Exclamation "When I want a sex slave, I just go to the market and choose the woman I like and pur

Egyptian imam:
"When I want a sex slave, I just go to the market and choose the woman I like and purchase her"

http://www.translatingjihad.com/2011...-want-sex.html

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/06/eg...nd-purcha.html

This is the second Islamic spokesman to speak out in favor of sex slavery in recent days. And that should come as no surprise: taking women captive and enslaving them as concubines is sanctioned by the Qur'an: "And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess. It is a decree of Allah for you." -- Qur'an 4:24

Sharia Alert: "Video: Shaykh al-Huwayni: 'When I want a sex slave, I just go to the market and choose the woman I like and purchase her,'" from Translating Jihad, June 11:
After Egyptian Shaykh Abu-Ishaq al-Huwayni's controversial comments about jihad and slavery (see here) were published on YouTube, Facebook, and also in Egyptian press, he was given the opportunity to respond in a telephone interview aired on the Islamic satellite television station al-Hikma on 22 May 2011. In his approximately 20-minute response, he contended that his words in that clip were taken out of context--he was talking within the larget [sic] topic of offensive jihad. In this interview he explained the meaning of offensive jihad, and established through sources in the Qur'an and sayings of Muhammad that both offensive jihad and the taking of spoils of war, namely slaves and "sex-slaves," are legitimate under Islam.

I condensed the 20-minute interview down to about 8 and a half minutes; the subtitled video is above, and the transcript is below:
[...] It is clear that offensive jihad, which I was talking about in that interview, that its purpose is to call people to Islam, and it is not permissible for anyone to hide the divine guidance from the people, under any name. They rejected Islam and the jizya, that's it. The Prophet (PBUH) said: "If they refuse, then seek Allah's aid and fight them." If fighting occurs, there is going to be a winner and a loser. If the army of the Muslims is victorious, it will take spoils. Taking spoils is a fixed ruling in the Qur'an. Allah permitted it at the day of the Battle of Badr, as it is (recorded) in Surat al-Anfal. Allah Almighty said: "And know that out of all the booty that ye may acquire (in war), a fifth share is assigned to Allah,- and to the Messenger, and to near relatives, orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer,- if ye do believe in Allah and in the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Testing,- the Day of the meeting of the two forces. For Allah hath power over all things" [Qur'an 8:41]. [...]

I want to say that it is not at all permissible to take prisoners from among Muslims, even if they are heretics, because the rule for Muslims is that they are free, and not prisoners. Jihad, as I stated in the beginning, is between Muslims and non-Muslims, from among the infidels. But if two Muslims fought each other, like from Iraq and Iran for example; if Iraq invaded Iran to occupy it, it would not be permissible for an Iraqi man to take a Shi'ite woman captive, because she is Muslim, even though she's a heretic. Likewise if Iran invaded Iraq, it would not be permissible for one of their men to take a Muslim woman captive, because she is free.

Therefore jihad is only between Muslims and infidels. [...]

Do you understand what I'm saying? Spoils, slaves, and prisoners are only to be taken in war between Muslims and infidels. Muslims in the past conquered, invaded, and took over countries. This is agreed to by all scholars--there is no disagreement on this from any of them, from the smallest to the largest, on the issue of taking spoils and prisoners. The prisoners and spoils are distributed among the fighters, which includes men, women, children, wealth, and so on.

When a slave market is erected, which is a market in which are sold slaves and sex-slaves, which are called in the Qur'an by the name milk al-yamin, "that which your right hands possess" [Qur'an 4:24]. This is a verse from the Qur'an which is still in force, and has not been abrogated. The milk al-yamin are the sex-slaves. You go to the market, look at the sex-slave, and buy her. She becomes like your wife, (but) she doesn't need a (marriage) contract or a divorce like a free woman, nor does she need a wali. All scholars agree on this point--there is no disagreement from any of them. [...]

When I want a sex slave, I just go to the market and choose the woman I like and purchase her. I choose the man I like, one with strong muscles, or if I want a boy to work in the house, and so forth. I choose one, and pay him a wage. I employ him in a variety of different tasks, then I sell him afterwards. Now, the country that I entered and took captive its men and women--does it not also have money, gold, and silver? Is that not money? When I say that jihad--offensive jihad--with the well-known conditions that I already mentioned from the hadith of the Prophet (PBUH), from the hadith of Burayda in Sahih Muslim, the coffers of the Muslims were full. Would someone who is pious and intelligent--would he say that this is a type of poverty? Or that it is a type of wealth? No--this will fill the coffers of the Muslims with riches and wealth, but as we said, with the recognized conditions. [...]

Arrow Catholic woman kidnapped, drugged, and forced to convert to Islam and marry a Muslim

Pakistan:
Catholic woman kidnapped, drugged, and forced to convert to Islam and marry a Muslim may now be sold abroad

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/06/pa...m-may-now.html

In Pakistan, our "friend and ally," "at least 700 Christian girls are kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam every year." And sold abroad or not, any fate for Farah Hatim short of her being reunited with her family and legally recognized again as a Christian, and not a Muslim, is intolerable.

There is supposedly "no compulsion in religion" (Qur'an 2:256). And so Farah was made to sign a document saying she married and converted freely. Is there "no compulsion" in kidnapping victims' signing documents, too?

The claim of "no compulsion" is a shell game in practice: all claims about "compulsion" aside, Islamic law is replete in letter and spirit with numerous means of coercion to convert. In Qur'an 9:29 itself, the alternatives to conversion are subjugation or war. The goal is to make life so difficult, so terrifying, and so intolerable as to make the targeted non-Muslims convert under duress... at which point their overlords will crow about their supposedly "free" choice.

And most crucially, after a certain point, the lines between persuasion and compulsion become blurred, and those doing the compelling could care less, because it is difficult, if not dangerous, to challenge those wielding power under Islamic law on where the distinction lies.

An update on this story. "Kidnapped Pakistani Christian may be sold abroad," from Catholic Culture, June 13 (thanks to Twostellas):
Pakistani Catholic sources have told the Fides news agency that a 24-year-old Christian woman who was kidnapped, forced to convert to Islam, and forced to marry a Muslim may soon be sold abroad.
Farah Hatim, 24, “was forced to sign a declaration stating that she had converted and married [according] to her will,” said a Pakistani nun. “The text was brought to the police and in court, so legally the case is considered closed. It will be possible to reopen it only with a written statement, in which Farah testifies that these communications were drawn out by threats and torture.”
The nun called for prayer and international pressure to help secure Hatim’s releases.
There are over 700 cases of forced conversion to Islam in Pakistan each year, according to Fides.
There are probably more than that nowadays. More: "Fear for Farah, Catholic girl drugged and forced to sign the conversion to Islam," from Fides, June 9:
Lahore (Fides Service) - There are fears for the life of Farah Hatim, the Catholic girl kidnapped and forced into marriage and conversion to Islam in the city of Rahim Yar Khan in southern Punjab (see Fides 08/06/2011 7 and ). As the girl`s family refer to Fides, Farah is constantly drugged and her life is in danger. Meanwhile, attempts to discourage the family to carry on with the request to free Farah are still in progress. Yesterday Qasim and Huma Hatim, the victim`s brother and sister, were summoned by the local police who showed them the marriage certificate, a declaration of conversion to Islam and a picture of Farah, in traditional Muslim clothes. The police concluded that "everything is in order", stressing the request to abandon all claims on behalf of the family. According to Huma and Qasim, the documents are obviously artifacts. The supposed signatures of Farah are in Urdu – they observe- while the girl used to sign in English. In the photo, moreover, the girl is totally veiled, "to hide the beatings", they said. "The police wants to convince us to forget Farah, but we will carry on" say the family members.
"It will be very difficult to win this battle and get the girl back", said His Excellency Mgr Lawrence Saldanha to Fides, Archbishop Emeritus of Lahore , and for several years President of the Episcopal Conference. "The law is not in our favor, and then there is a lot of pressure on Christians and public officials' he remarks. "It must be said that our Justice and Peace Commission document numerous cases like this. And many cases remain unsolved, because Christians are threatened and are afraid to expose themselves. These are blatant violations of human rights, freedom of conscience and religion".
As already reported in recent months to Fides from local sources, forced conversions to Islam, rapes and forced marriages are increasing in Pakistan. The victims are mostly Hindu and Christian girls, the most vulnerable because they come from poor, defenseless, marginalized communities, therefore easily exposed to harassment, threats and violence. They often do not have the courage to denounce the assaults.
We who are still free must speak out for them. There should be no foreign aid to Pakistan until Farah Hatim is released. And Saba and Anila Masih. And Asia Bibi, Hector Aleem, and all non-Muslim captives and prisoners of conscience, especially those held for "blasphemy."

Exclamation Movement Forms to Stop Forced Conversion of Hindu Girls (Pak.)...

Pakistan, forced conversions of Hindu girls to Islam.
Often unreported out of fear

Hindus “Rights movement" launches a campaign to seek justice and to limit violence and harassment by landlords. The court in Rawalpindi exonerates three Christians of blasphemy, now there are fears of retaliation by Muslim fundamentalists.

Lahore (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Young Hindu girls forced to become Muslim and forced to marry their captors, denounce Pakistani Hindus members of the Rights Movement for "scheduled castes" recently formed in Pakistan. They also call for greater respect for their rights. Hindus belonging to "scheduled castes", ie the protected Hindu minorities, form 6% of the total population of Pakistan, and 10% in the region of Sindh, but are under-represented in both public service and in the elected assemblies. In addition, the movement calls for the creation of a law for the registration of marriages of "scheduled castes" that used the term "Hindu" rather than "scheduled castes" in the column that specifies the religion in the registrar, and that the National Parliament promote a law against religious hatred against them.

The movement brings together various ethnic Hindu groups such as the Kolhi, Bhel, Bagri, Meghwar and Rawar. They have no permanent homes, living in temporary camps at the mercy of local land lords. Since the creation of Pakistan the number of seats in Parliament reserved for minorities has never gone beyond 10. This is why the Movement for Rights calls for granted lands, where they can establish their residence, that they be allowed to celebrate religious festivals and the application of the 6% quota reserved for them in public services. The leaders of the movement point out that the situation is such that the groups are kept in a state prison by landowners, and that instances of forced conversions of Hindu girls are extremely common, and not reported. They ask that measures are taken against those responsible.

The Christian minority suffers for similar reasons. A positive development should, however, be noted: a court in Rawalpindi has acquitted three Christians of blasphemy, even though fears that the three may become the target of an act of violence by Islamic radicals. On June 12 court judge Akhter Sarfraz ordered the release of Hector Haleem, Basharat Masih and Robin Masih because the prosecution was not able to provide evidence supporting the charges presented against them last year by a Muslim, Ghufran Sialvi. The accusation was that they had sent blasphemous messages. The court has opened an investigation to prosecute both the Police Commissioner for failure to provide evidence of the charges for the prosecution. Haleem, 55, runs an Pakistani NGO called "Peace Worldwide”.
